Welcome to Illuminati Chronicles, a story that deals with both missions that the Illuminati give Xanatos, and how Riley ends up being roped into the tangled web called the Illuminati. Before the story begins thought I want to make sure the whole number thing in the Illuminati is explained. In the Illuminati there are 36 ranks with each rank having the same number of members in it as it's number(for exampel Rank 1 has one member, 2 has two members, etc.). Well now that that's through on with the story.
Illuminati Chronicles
Mission
Xanatos sat quietly in a corner of the café, sipping on a cup of coffee while he waited for his ‘business partner’ to arrive. In truth David had been given a message to meet with a higher member of the Illuminati.
The Café doors opened and in walked a man who looked like he was in the early to mid forties carrying a brown envelope. The man went straight across the room and sat down next to David. “Hello
David, I expect my product to be delivered on time,” he said making it sound like any other business deal.
“It’s nice to see you too Reynard” Xanatos said with a slight smirk. He had done business with this man before and he knew how devoted he was to his job. “Yes the micro-chips security system you ordered are all ready and waiting to be sent over to your office” Xanatos said easily slipping into the façade of doing regular business. “Now that business is done why don’t you join me for a drink, the coffee hear is delicious,” Xanatos said knowing the others answer but found it amusing to ask.
“No thank you Xanatos, lets just get this transaction done with,” Reynard said as he slipped Xanatos the brown package, in a way that it seemed like he was giving money. “Besides I have someone else I have to meet here,” Reynard said as he got up.
David watched the older Illuminati member leave. ‘I wonder what that’s about, could be interesting’ Xanatos thought as he opened the package to see it’s contents.

Father
As Riley stood in the elevator at the Grand Floridian Resort he nervously fingered the note that was in his hands. On the note, in quite eloquent handwriting, were instructions to go to Suite 506, and apparently it was from his father. It seemed strange to Riley that his father was contacting him, he actually didn’t know his father very well since he left Riley and his mom when Riley was still little.
As Riley approached the suit number he used the keycard that was in the letter and slowly opened the door. As Riley walked in he looked around but could not see his father anywhere. Curious Riley started to look for him but still could find no trace.
“Welcome son, it’s been a long while” said a deep voice from behind Riley startling him. The voice came from Reynard Pool, Riley’s father.
“Yes it has been a long time” Riley said with an edge in his voice. He couldn’t believe his father could be so casual about his abandoning his family. As Riley got a better look of his father, he noticed to his surprise that he didn’t look much different than he remembered. The same sparkling blue eyes that Riley inherited, with the few locks of grey hair that made him look distinguished.
Reynard sighed, it was useless to try to get Riley to understand why he left so it was probably best to just get to business. “Yes, well we both know that I didn’t just call you for a check up so lets get down to business.” Reynard said as he took a seat, motioning Riley to follow suit. “I am a member of the Illuminati, number 20 to be exact, and I have come here because the Illuminati has decided to use you as a resource.”
“Wait, you mean the illuminati is real? I was right?” Riley asked excited about learning that his theories were correct. Completely ignoring the rest of what his father told him.
“Yes” Reynard replied, glad he didn’t have to prove it to his son.
“Yes I knew it!” Riley exclaimed excited. “But why do I have to work for them anyway” Riley added as the last part of what Reynard said sunk in. Sure he liked the idea of finding out all the secrets about the illuminati but he didn’t like being ordered to work for them, especially by his father.
Reynard was expecting that question, “Well for one thing you hacked into one of it’s members achieves. You didn’t gain much knowledge but even that could mark get you killed. You should count your blessing that all you have to do is work for them, with time you could even gain membership.” Reynard then added with a more serious expression, “but more importantly to you, we know you little secret, the one you keep from Ben, and if push comes to shove we will inform him of that.”
“So, the Illuminati has resorted to blackmail now,” Riley said, figuring it useless to ask how they even got that information. It was still something that was painful to think about. He knew his father got him; it was no use to struggle now.
“We do what we must, you will lean in time not to question it” Reynard said with total confidence that what he said was the truth. “Normally we wouldn’t even go this far but your gift for computers could become very useful. And to think I never knew my son had such skill,” Reynard added proud that his son could help the Illuminati.
“Maybe because you were never their in his life” Riley replied with the same edge in his voice.. Even if he had no choice in the matter of joining the Illuminati, he still hated his father. “So, what do I have to do” Riley said, wanting this unpleasant meeting to be over with.
“It’s simple really. Do you know the man David Xanatos” Reynard asked with a grin.

Meeting
Xanatos leaned against a wall in the abandoned Backlot studio, he was waiting for Riley to show up for their first meeting. Now normally he wouldn’t of picked someplace so conspicuous, but it was the place the Illuminati chose, and ‘they know best’.
As David was waiting he reread the mission given to him. There were many smaller missions but the main one was simple. Find out the powers of the Disney heroes and villains, and see if any of them could be useful to the Illuminati. To actually test the strength however would be another matter. Just using the Steel Clan would not work, that would end up gaining enemies from both sides. He had to do it in a craftier way, which was what he was good at. He had already thought of some plans and one of the biggest ones was to get the Heroes and Villains to fight each other. Xanatos figured that was the main reason the Illuminati decided to have Riley help Xanatos.
Xanatos didn’t work with people he doesn’t have info on so he checked up on Riley Poole after getting the news. Xanatos knew about Riley’s involvement in both the Templar Treasure and the City of Gold, as well as what his father does but the rest he found out in a simple search. Now all that was left was to test his usefulness, which would come latter.

Riley walked through Hollywood Studios trying to look as inconspicuous as he could while he walked towards the abandoned Backlot. So far, so good, but then again there weren’t a lot of people there that day so there wasn’t anyway to tell. As Riley walked he tried to remember all he knew about David Xanatos. Riley knew Xanatos was the owner of Xanatos Enterprises, as well as some other companies that branched off of it, as well as Xanatos being the wealthiest man alive. Other than that though, Riley didn’t know much about his new boss.
When Riley got to the Backlot he looked around to see where Xanatos was. He wasn’t going to be startled twice by Illuminati members, and looked around the sides and behind him so he wouldn’t be caught of guard. The one place Riley didn’t look however, was in front of him.
Xanatos looked up from the mission papers to see whom he recognized as Riley Poole. Xanatos put the papers away and walked towards Riley, who was too busy looking around the place to notice him at first. Once Xanatos figured Riley wouldn’t notice him for a while he started to walk towards Riley. “Hello Mr. Poole, it seems you got here safely” Xanatos said once he got a few feet away from him..
Riley, who was at the moment looking behind him, jumped a bit when he heard the voice behind him. “Man, what is with you Illuminati people that makes you able to appear out of nowhere” Riley exclaimed startled.
“Nothing really, just that we know how to stay discrete, like for instance not yelling out who we are” Xanatos said with a slight smirk. Well now he knew why they were meeting in the Backlot.
“Oh yeah, sorry about that” Riley said glad that their was no one else there to hear that. “So, what’s this mission that the, you know, assigned us.” Riley said trying not to accidentally say Illuminati again.
“You know when were alone you can say Illuminati” Xanatos said as he pulled out smaller envelope from the one holding the mission papers. “This is a packet full of all of the info you need. Anyway this place is way to conspicuous for my taste so next time I’ll call you to arrange the meeting.” Xanatos said as he gave the envelope to Riley.
Riley watched as Xanatos left before looking back at the card. ‘Well this will be interesting’ Riley thought as he put the envelope in his computer case before leaving the Backlot as well.
