The Year of a Million Dreams is scheduled to discontinue for 2009. Word has spread that the new theme is "What will you celebrate?" And if it's your birthday you get free admission. But they also include celebrations like graduation, weddings, etc.
What are your thoughts?
Personally I'm not really impressed with this theme. But then again I wasn't impressed with YoaM until much later did I begin to appreciate the theme and the impact it also had on the world. I'll see if the new theme is beneficial XD

My opinion: How stupid! XD It just isn't a catchy, inspiring name. I think they should've kept YOAMD.

Yeah, the sad part is, they have to end things sometime like VMK. The theme, stinks. They are losing their touch. Disney is great, but their new ideas are not that great. I think they need someone from this site to come and talk to them haha. But anyways, yeah, those are my thoughts.

I never cared much for VMK...I was on for a month but gave it up rather quickly.
YoaM had a great impact worldwide. Like, the Make-A-Wish Foundation affected so many ill-children. They brought them to Disneyland or Walt Disney World as like a last wish if the child could not make a full recovery.
YoaM brought so many great new features like the Nemo sub. But what also stinks is that now they're getting rid of so many beloved features. Like at Disneyland, Ariel's Grotto has been replaced for the pixies of Neverland. And the Princess Fantasy Faire keeps all the Princesses locked up. it's a small world, I'll have to wait and see if it's still the same, classic boat ride.
Not only are they very successful, but Disney can be quite cheap sometimes. Like, at WDW they'll be removing so much stuff, like the castle show, and even Captain Jack! They're promoting all the top rated franchises like HSM or Hannah Montanna (I don't hate them...but I'm not a big fan).

Disney is losing their touch and going all downhill. But lucky for me, I hope to revive it. Also, what's the deal with Years of a Million Dreams going down the tubes?

Well, they have to have a new theme, otherwise it'd get too old and boring.

I really don't think HSM and Hannah Montana deserve to be at Diseny World or WDW. I don't despise it, it just is annoying that they are (from what it seems, although I've never been to either parks :[) turning it into a tween fest! If they want to market stuff that stuff, they should make a park for the disney channel .... Although that won't happen. I respect those who like HM and HSM, but it it nescessary to floud the parks with that?? [/size]

^I heard that Disney will be heavily promoting HSM for HSM 3. And at Disneyland, Miley Cyrus is celebrating her 16th birthday for I believe $1000 per guest.
It's almost as if everyone forgets the classics and move on to the modern favorites of today...just because it brings more money to the company =( I would have appreciated improving the Disney Princess franchise, because THAT made loads of money. Now, I don't know how very successful it is, but Hannah Montanna and HSM are beating them by a lot.

I know they are, and I have strong opinions on all this which would be a rant for 10 pages, but I wont. lol. Anyways, I Disney is all about money, period. After hearing interviews for Mary Poppins and other stuff like that from the old stuff, I would have loved to meet Walt Disney, the problem is, Wlt was in charge of EVERYTHING, and now the Disney family has allowed others to do it for them. So...I think the Disney family needs to come back into power.
Whoa creepy huh? lol.

I can understand promoting HSM 3, truthfully ... eeer, it looks kind of good for an HSM movie!! -flinches- Don't hurt me! But having to pay so much to get into the park just because it's Miley Cyrus' B-day!?

In my opinion, I think the theme should be called "Fantastic Disney" or something. Nothing crappy (excuse me) such as this.

Ok, I've never been to either Disney park. Even though I want to SO badly.....but if they're gonna overload it with all the modern junk, i don't want to ever go. what about the classics, the movies/shows that people like us grew up with? are they going to wipe out the old disney, the good disney, the classic disney, and repalce it with the fake disney? its terrible! i agree with you, ariel, they should make a seperate disney channel park, and put hannah montana, and hsm inside, instead of ruining the classic disney park. ol' walt disney must be somersaulting in his grave...........

Well I am not surprised they are charging so much for it. I went to the Pirates 3 premiere at Disneyland, and they charged $1000 to make your dream come true to walk on the red carpet, now obviously I did not walk on the red carpet, but come on!
I have to admit, though it has a lot of the modern stuff in there, the parks themselves are not all that about the modern stuff. They do have ALOT of the classic Disney. which is why I like to go so much. The rides are the classic, their shows (mostly) are about the classics, and everything else. Don't fear, Disneyland can't fully change modern.

Well, at WDW specifically, they're getting rid of a lot of the fun stuff. Like Dream Along With Mickey, a very nice castle show, as well as other shows that I've never seen.
They're getting rid of some characters like Clarabelle Cow, Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, Bert from Mary Poppins...and, yes, Wendy from Peter Pan. The character department, apparently, is very cheap. I don't know if Bert and Wendy apply to Disneyland, though.
Although at the Disneyland Resort they're refurbishing CA Adventure because it doesn't make a whole lot of money. BUT, at Disneyland Park, Ariel's Grotto is closed for the new Pixie Hollow for Tinkerbell and her pixie friends. Ariel has been moved to the Princess Fantasy Faire with her legs this time.
