Movie(s) your character is in: The Great Mouse Detective
Character's Personality: A proper English gentleman of the Victorian Era, Dr. Dawson is always impeccably polite and very kind-hearted. As a Doctor, he sees it as his calling to help those around him, especially the sick and wounded. This calling has led him through many adventures and transformed him from a once timid and easily excitable mouse to a braver, more intent adventurer. While he is not as keen or sharp as his friend and partner, Basil, he is reasonably sharp and is very knowledgeable about the world of medicine, which often helps Basil in his cases. A great lover of literature and other books, Dawson often is found with a volume of some kind or another in his hand and he does so love to learn more about the world around him. This is partly because he wishes to be able to better keep up with Basil and be a greater help to the detective. The portly Doctor will do anything to help his good friend and has done a great deal over the years.
Character's History: Born to a rather well-to-do family in the city of London, David Dawson was the son of a very successful Doctor and a well-learned Lady. From a young age his parents sought to interest him in 'the family business' of medicine. They did not have to try as hard as they did, because David became intrigued from a very young age. His father had a talent in the field of medicine and David wanted to be able to fix people as well as his father did. As soon as he was old enough to understand most of what he was reading, the portly young mouse threw himself into the collection of medical journals that his father was in possession of.
When he was old enough, David enrolled in Cambridge and entered the rigorous medical program in existence there. While in university, the young mouse was introduced to a lad whose father was a general in the army. This adventurous life seemed so much more appealing than that of a mere city Doctor and David was instantly enchanted with the idea of going abroad in service of Queen and Country. When he had finished his medical program--graduating with honors, of course--he volunteered for service in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. He became the medical assistant to the Doctor for the Queen's 66th Regiment. His first assignment was to Afghanistan, where the empire was expanding and quelling rebellions.
Sadly, David did not remain long in Afghanistan. A bullet entered his shoulder, rendering his arm all but useless and forcing him to return home to England to recuperate. It took months for him to be able to regain the use of his arm to such an extent that he would be able to work as a Doctor once more. When this happened, he attempted to return to his duty in the army, but was sent back to England once more, as his wound would never fully heal and only served to slow the poor mouse down. Returning to England disheartened, Dawson sought to find lodgings where he could further recuperate. It was at this time that he met young Olivia Flaversham and the famous Basil of Baker Street. After helping Basil in rescuing Olivia's father and saving the Empire from the rule of Professor Ratigan, Dawson became Basil's partner, taking in patients when their cases were few and far between. The good Doctor could not ask for a better life than this.
Characters Likes: Reading, being able to help people who are ill, cheese, tea, listening to Basil practice his powers of deduction, children
Character's Dislikes: Being ill, wet weather--it makes his old wound throb terribly, cats, rats, bats, alcohol of any form stronger than the occasional sherry or port wine
Roleplay
Task: You have just arrived at Walt Disney World. Your character has just been brought to the Happiest Place On Earth, but what happens then? What do you do first? What park are you going to go to? Write a 3-5 paragraph RP using our rules into effect.
Dawson was rather swept away by the vibrant and active world that now surrounded him. It was so amazing and lovely. Much nicer than dreary, wet old London. Not that the Doctor didn't love his hometown. On the contrary! He adored that old city. But it was rather deucedly irritating to have his right shoulder throbbing almost every day as the rain pelted the cobblestones and rendered him quite unable to be of much use to anyone, let alone help his good friend, Basil of Baker Street.
But this was not a time to reminisce about London. Dawson was here to explore--and to find Basil, if he could, but that was a secondary objective--and he intended to explore. America was such a foreign country to the Doctor. It was not as cold and wet as England and nowhere near as hot and oppressively humid as India, but it was so very sunny and lovely. Taking a discarded map from a bench nearby, the mouse opened it briskly and folded the unnecessary flaps back as he pulled out his spectacles and placed them lightly on his nose, his whiskers twitching with excitement.
The opportunities that were available were almost endless! "Upon my word," he murmured to himself. "I shall never be able to see all of this even if I lived to be a hundred years of age."
For a brief moment, the Doctor was disappointed when he did not hear Basil's dry voice commenting on his overuse of metaphors and such that reflected a sad love of those dashed thrilling novels. But Dawson pushed that aside and returned to inspecting the map, his ears flicking back and forth.
"I do believe…Fantasyland is first on my list," Dawson declared, folding the map up carefully and tucking it under his arm as he began to make his way towards the train that would take him to his destination. After scurrying around for a moment, the mouse found a nice seat and settled back for the short ride.

How did you find us? Looking through the affiliates of one of the other RP sites I'm a part of.
Do you like the site so far? It looks promising, and I think I will like it a great deal.
Anything you need us to know or any questions? I am rather obsessed with the Victorian Era, so if I freak out that Dawson is 'not quite right' then it is perfectly normal for me, because I want to write the perfect Victorian Doctor.
