Hello all,
There have been so recent talks about rekindling the Esmerelda/Kovu pairing. The current rper for Kiara has agreed with this idea, but I would like to hear the comments/concerns of the rest of the site members. I want to avoid the backlash of last time and address any problems before they arrise.
Thanks for the feed back.

Remembering the backleash of December, I agree with Kovu. I too am glad for all the feedback we can get. Love you all!

First of all, let me just say that this is in NO way intended to be against you two, because I LOVE you guys! This is just how I think of it, kay? Alright, well I don't think that it's the best idea. I don't know if you're planning on turning Kovu into a human again, but I'm just putting it in that perspective. See, if he's a lion in his avatar/signature and he's described in roleplay as being a human, I think that it could just defeat the purpose of the character in a way. Also, it would be confusing to new members. They expect to roleplay with a lion, and then find out that he's a human with no explanation. It even took me a while to realize that had happened, and I got a little confused over it myself. It's in the best interest of new members to maybe stay away from that whole concept, especially after the whole situation that happened over December. Sure, crossovers are alright. But I think that the human/animal combo is just pushing it a little in terms of Disney continuity. Hope that helps your decision a little!

Well... what happened with the Swan Princess? Although she was a human that had a spell on her and she turned into a swan and she did fall in love. And the Swan Princess was a Disney movie... did the spell ever get broken?

It's a general statement, lets not get into all the details, ahaha. ^^ Oh, and on a minor note I believe that The Swan Princess is by Nest Entertainment/Richard Rich Studios. Correct me if I'm wrong, though. xD

Besides, the Swan Princess was a human to start out with. She was turned into a swan, which made it okay for a human to fall in love with her.
And just a warning... My friends and I constantly converse about our random rp sites, and I mentioned the Kovuralda pairing. Everyone just stopped and stared. I hurriedly said that we turned him into a human for the plot, but everyone was just a little creeped out.
Just for new members that don't know the circumstances, I think an animal/human pairing may be a little creepy.

Couldn't you turn Esmeralda into a lion instead? I dunno how I feel about this, but I think a Brothr Bear type thing would be cool since I think Kenai is a human.

I'm all for it, no matter what context it's in. Disney has never shied away from characters of different species falling in love. Belle fell in love with the Beast, Ariel, a mermaid, fell in love with a human, and Elisa fell in love with a gargoyle.
It's not as if Kovu and Esme are talking about having kids together or something like that. They're just saying they'd like to play two characters who are in love, and I see no issue at all.

I know I'm being a bit two-faced when I say this, but although Kenai was transformed into a bear, doesn't mean it makes it ok to do crossbreeding. Kenai was originally human, so it makes it alright to some degree. Anyways, I don't think it's very in-character for Esmeralda to fall in love with a lion...she did turn down Quasimodo after all, and ran into Phoebus' arms. I would think Esmeralda would have preferred a human. So it's not very IC and it's not something too ethical.

With all due respect, Kenai, as I said, I doubt we'll be seeing human/lion babies in the future. I've RPed with Esme and Kovu practically since I've arrived, and they way they write about their love is very tasteful.
And Quasimodo is a human, so I really don't understand your argument on that end.

Understood. Well, you see, speaking of Quasimodo - yes, it's quite obvious he's a human. But Esmeralda wasn't romantically interested in the poor deformed fellow, so why would (I hate how shallow I am sounding now, please do not think me as such) she fall in love with a lion? I adore Kovu, really, I do. I have nothing against the character. Yes, it wasn't specified that there would be any mating involved, but to some degree it is a little, well, eerie. Then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I never quite said that their romance was tasteless, on the contrary, I found it very pure and innocent... But it's just not right. That's my opinion.

As much as the Kovuralda pairing is adorable and melts my heart to itty bitty pieces, not everyone has followed up with that epic thread, "Wishing On a Star."
So the newbs that come here might not find it at all tasteful (I think otherwise).
Don't quite remember the title, but I agree with Kenai. Esmeralda did not see Quasimodo romantically, so why would she see a lion any different? It's a little out of character. As I recall in the HoND novel, she was more interested in the looks of Captain Phoebus, swooning over his flawlessness.
-hangs head- I'm sorry.
I seriously loved the pairing though.

I'm definitely for this pairing. I personally think it's sweet, and besides that, I miss the days of when Kovu, Esme, and Zephyr were a family. *Huggles his charrie.*
