Panchito leaned one elbow on the counter of the souvenir stand. Smiling, he chatted with the castmember on the opposite side. Her name was Julie, and she was very pretty.
The vacquero hoped she would go out with him when she got off work, and he was leading up to asking her, not paying any attention to the people around him.

"Curious little place..." Jack muttered to himself, holding his map upside down, getting awkward glances from everyone around him. He was not noticing the fact that he was walking towards Panchito's location, that is, until he lowered the map, glancing at the souvenir stand, the employee inside and the rather strange bird.
"Hm. That's odd, he looks rather familiar..." He slid behind a rather large tree, as the Animal Kingdom was known for, there was an inner conflict in his mind right now. "Well, I might as well give it a shot, after all, life is no fun without a good scare." A large mischievous look spread over his skull, as he silently tiptoed over to the back of the stand...

"So, Senorita Julie," Panchito was saying, "do you like dancing?"
He was a very good dancer and was hoping to impress this girl. Suddenly, she looked up over the rooster's shoulder with a startled expression.
Uh-oh, was it her boyfriend walking up behind him? Panchito turned and found himself face to face with...
"Jack Esqueleto!"
With a yelp, he was over the counter muy rápidamente, landing in the arms of the surprised Julie. Panchito had hoped to find himself in her arms, but not like this!
The girl asked with a smirk, "You two know each other?"

Jack laughed, not in the menacing or making fun of you sort of way, it was more of a friendly laugh. "My." He grinned, his mouth forming a Jack-o-Lantern shape. "I must be more recognized then I thought." He put his bony hands together, clapping. "Bravo! That's certainly the best yelp I've heard in a long time!" His everlasting grin remaining prominent. He clapped, until he turned the castmember.
"To be quite honest, it's been a long time since I've ran into Mr..." He put his hands up to the place where his chin would be, scratching it with thought. "Mr. Panchito here, but he still seems to be quite afraid of me." He chuckled. "Good to see that at least someone here's scared of the Pumpkin King, even if it isn't Halloween."

"Oh, no, senor," answered the rooster with a weak laugh, "you only surprised me. I did no expect to see you outside la mansión embrujada."
Panchito couldn't bear to admit that he was afraid of anything. But no matter how friendly Jack tried to be, one look at those bones moving around by themselves just gave the vacquero the willies.
As he made no move to disengage himself, Julie took the initiative and put Panchito on his feet once more. He looked none to happy, but at least there was a counter between him and Jack.
Until Julie spoke up. "Only castmembers are allowed in here."
"Oh, si, si, but I am...um...going to buy something. Yes, many things."
"Sorry, you'll still have to leave." She was still smirking.
Oh, to be laughed at by a pretty girl was muy terrible! Panchito climbed reluctantly over the counter until he stood much too close for comfort to Jack Skellington.

"I always thought the surprising someone was always some sort of sub-form of scaring." Jack gave a quick snicker. His bony fingers adjusted his bat-bowtie as he watched the humorous scene unfold. At last having Panchito stood next to him, Jack looked down at him, feeling a bit sorry for him. He looked rather uncomfortable.
Jack coughed. "You know, I can always leave if you want." He gave a quiet smile. Jack could stay if Panchito liked it or not, but he tried not to be rude.

"Oh, well, only if you want to," he answered carelessly. "If you have some important businesses, do no let me keep you..."
Why did he have to display such bravado? Why couldn't Panchito just admit he was afraid and vamoose? He knew he wanted to.
But, no, that would not be macho. Panchito would continue to pretend he was not scared, although it wasn't a very convincing act.

If Jack had an eyebrow, he would raise it. Then again, he didn't have eyesockets in the first place, so it would be impossible for him to have one. "Nope." Jack admitted. "There's really nowhere I should be, just wandering." He laughed in his usual scary-but-friendly manner. "I'll hopefully find some scary ideas for next Halloween as well, ones that will really make them scream!" He grinned.

(hope ya don`t mind me joining. i need to post a bit more and i just adore you guys ;D )
further down the street, a rather unusual pair could be seen wandering along the Asian fashioned town.
Actually the two received quite some stares as Merlin, despite his age, had let his childish mischievous side get the better of him, and he`d morphed into the shape of a bright blue Asian dragon. Just to "set the mood," as he put it, before he`d gone into full lecture mood about the dragon`s place in local legends.
While enjoying the new knowledge given to him by the wise wizard, Quasi weren`t quite that comfortable of being a part of his parade, his natural shyness kicking in.
The two paused as they eyed two familiar fellows by a souvenir stand nearby, Merlin`s sharp dragon ears couldn`t help but catch a tiny part of the conversation. Pardon me for interrupting, the shapeshifting magician spoke as he went over, quickly followed by Quasi. But i couldn`t help picking up this subject of Halloween, he rubbed his large ears with the tip of his tail in a kinda apologizing manner.
he smiled gleefully as he morphed back to his old self, in his opinion, Halloween was among the more magical of the holidays.

Now what? How could Panchito get away without losing face?
Living things didn't scare him. Dead things didn't scare him. But dead things that were living? Ay, y, yi!
Suddenly, he spotted an old friend heading his way with, of all things, a blue dragon. Panchito didn't care who it was or what he was with at this point.
He backed away from Jack and toward the hunchback as rapidly as possible. "Quasimodo, mi amigo!" he said with genuine relief. "Who is el dragón?"
The question was answered when it turned into Merlin. "Ah, hola, Senor Merlin."
The rooster slapped Quasi on the backin a friendly way, but his heart wasn't really in it. He kept the hunchback between himself and el esqueleto as much as possible.

Jack turned as Panchito ran towards Quasi. He looked on at the two strangers, not knowing which he was more curious about, the orange-haired hunchback or the rather large dragon who just morphed into an old man. Wait a minute, did he just ask about Halloween? How delightful! He might finally be able to get some new ideas!
"Well, sir..." Jack began. "You may or not already know, but I am Jack, the Pumpkin King and ruler of all Halloween Town." He sighed. "However, I was going oh so tired once again. I stumbled upon this merry little place and plan to take a break! However, that doesn't keep me from my duties."
Jack pulled out a small blue notepad that he had bought in one of the shops, with a black pen attached, he began talking once again.
"With this new place and it's wonderful things, I've decided to scout out for new ideas for Halloween here! So far, I've got nothing, but that shan't stop me."

Quasi
Hi, Panchito.. Quasi smiled, glad to see a familiar face, especially since most of his friends seemed to be gone.
He looked puzzled at the rooster, noticing his hasty, nervous manner. There was nothing scary here as far as he could see, just Merlin and the strange fellow in the skeleton costume.
Convincing as it was, that costume would be a winner at the festival of fools.
Tell me, do you have any idea what halloween is? he discreetly whispered to the rooster, as not to interupt the enthusiastic conversation between Merlin and the skeleton.
Merlin
Oh so you`re the pumpkin king, Merlin chuckled. A pleasure to finally be able to meet, you, i`ve heard quite a bit about you, he winked, a glimpse of humor present in his eyes. My name`s Merlin, he winked once again, knowing his reputation often ran way ahead of him
Hearing of his trouble of planning this years halloween, the eder wizard nooded, thoughtfull for a moment. Well, if your halloween needs an extra spark.. he trailed off. I`m certain magic and brain combined will be able to pull out something creative, he offered.

"Oh, si, si. It is the holiday where you have the picnic at the grave of su familia. Also you eat bread in the shape like un esqueleto."
Here he looked sideways at Jack, but the Pumpkin King was busy talking with Merlin.
"Los niños run through the streets with lanterns and ask for coins. And there are the great bonfires and firecrackers, too."
Mexican Halloween customs are a little different than American.

Well, if your halloween needs an extra spark..I`m certain magic and brain combined will be able to pull out something creative, he offered. Jack was very intrigued by this wise old man, nodding and scratching his skull at certain points. Hearing about the magic and brain thing got him extra excited. "Ah!" He cried, shaking Merlin's hand. "Thank you so much, Mr. Merlin! You've given me a great idea!" He took out the pen and started doodling on the notepad, mumbling, crossing things out, at last, He came to a realization. "Eureka!" Jack turned the notepad around so Merlin could see. It was a doodling of a monster, that resembled a walking brain with spider legs, with a giant magic wand protruding from it's head. Apparently, Jack hadn't been listening very well.

Although he refused to get any closer to Jack, Panchito could see the drawing, and he thought it was very funny, laughing a little in spite of his fear.
The vacquero couldn't sketch or draw at all. Though, to be fair, it was something he'd never tried.
