<<Even if you didn't say you were joining this thread, you are still welcome. Even those without talents are welcome to come and watch. Even if your talent stinks, you are welcome to try performing>>
There was a talent show this afternoon in the park, and Basil had decided to perform. He walked through the Animal Kingdom with his violin case in one hand and a sheaf of sheet music in the other, headed for the open-air stage.
When he arrived, the mouse saw rows of folding chairs set up for spectators, and a table of judges waiting to view the contestants. An announcer was just beginning the show, asking for the first participant.
Who would be first?

What was this? A man was standing on a stage and calling for someone to get up and show their talents.
Panchito just happened to be wandering by, not expecting anything like this, but he wasn't shy about exhibiting what he could do.
The rooster hopped onto the stage and, in answer to the judges, introduced himself.
"Me llamo Panchito Romero Miguel Juniperro Francisco Quintero Gonzalez Pistoles. I will sing for you now."
He produced a guitar from somewhere, perched on a high stool, and began to play an old Mexican folk song. His beautiful tenor voice was filled with pathos, audible even to those who couldn't understand Espanol.
When he finished, Panchito bowed to the warm applause, hoping that some pretty ladies in the audience were impressed.
<<I thought I'd start things with a pretty straightforward talent, before some of the stranger ones showed up>>

Eilonwy ------------- A young princess waltzed into the room. She was carrying not only a bow, but a sword as well. It was her talent. She was going to wow the audience with her talents of dangerous weapons. She was searching for someone to practice with before she went on. For the lack of said person she walked up to a mouse. "I'm so nervous." she said to the small mouse next to her. The mouse had a violin. How wonderful. "It's like butterflies are in my stomach." she said. The princess watched as a rooster hopped onto the stage. He was singing. Imagine that a rooster singing. Eilonwy clapped when the rooster was finished. "How wonderful sir. That was just magnificent." she said.

Although Panchito appreciated the comments, he had hoped to impress some slightly older ladies.
"Gracias, nina. Do you perform in the show as well? And you, Senor Basil?"

Hmmmm...Basil didn't much like the way this was beginning.
He'd thought the show was for amateur performers. But Panchito certainly sounded professional. He played expertly, and without any music to read.
The mouse was competent on the violin, nothing more. He hadn't the passion for music and didn't spend enough time practicing. Nor could he play many pieces without sheet music.
In fact, he only took up the violin to emulate his mentor Sherlock Holmes.
Perhaps Basil wouldn't play after all. He had no desire to make a fool of himself.

The sounds of a show where something that interested Robin. As he got closer to the area he saw a familiar mouse. With a smile Robin happily spoke to Basil.
"Oh hello there Basil. I did not know there was a talent show going on. Your not trying to show off to the ladies again are you?"
It was obvious Robin was joking, but he couldn't help teasing someone he had met before. In fact Basil thought about so much, Robin often wondered if he would ever settle down with someone. Of course that wouldn't be easy, Basil was so much like him, loved adventure, being held down never suited Robin either.

"Ah, what a pleasure to see you again," answered Basil sincerely, though he pointedly ignored that pawky comment about the ladies.
He enjoyed Robin Hood's company as they had quite a bit in common.
"Have you come to exhibit some talent? Archery skills, perhaps?"

Edna was walking along pulling a large case on small wheels when she heard some noises going on which caught the fashion designer by surprise. "Now what could be going that is so impressive. Hmmmm a stage, perfect idea to show off my stylish wears of dresses and casual wear all made for the everyday citizen. All i need is someone to model them for this show and I'll be set" She said with a grin as she stopped and waited to see if any lady was interested.

<<Gadget is just here as a spectator>>
Gadget applauded Panchito's number enthusiastically.
"Wow! That was teriffic!"
She couldn't sing or play anything. In fact, she didn't do anything that could be called a "talent." But she sure enjoyed the show so far and couldn't wait to see who was up next.

Esmeralda
A tall, slender beautiful gypsy girl with long raven curls and emerald eyes entered the stage, dressed in a red dress. She was followed by a tiny goat with a tiny tambourine clamped in his mouth. The musicians started playing a fiery flamenco. Djali played along by shaking his little head.
Esmeralda allowed her heart to follow the music. She was a star performer, and could do this. She moved gracefully across the stage, her dress swirling in the air around her. She threw her raven curls back proudly, stomped her feet, and snapped her fingers along with the music. When the music ended, she bowed and accepted the applause from the audience.

Notwithstanding all the time he had spent thus far in the parks, Basil had never seen her dance before.
There was no denying her skill, but the detective found the performance painful to watch. The gypsy girl had the uncanny ability to make it appear she was dancing for one pair of eyes only.
Or perhaps that was simply in his perception. Either way, he found it convenient to look elsewhere. "Ah! A left-handed solicitor with asthma. How interesting."

*****Lady Tremaine*****
Lady Tremaine entered the room, swirling past the stageworkers as she owned the stage. She was dressed in an equisite dress, looking like the lady of aristocracy she was. Without noticing the people in the audience, she sat down by the piano and started playing. She closed her eyes, and forgot the world around her, only focusing on her music of the night. ;D
This is what she was playing:

"Wow, that was great!"
Gadget couldn't paly a note on any instrument, but she sure enjoyed hearing other people play.
She applauded happily, enjoying it all the more because she loved that particular musical.

(Maid Marian is here just as a spectator as well ) Maid Marian too applauded after hearing the music, and was surprised when the Lady by the piano stood up and curtsied before leaving the stage. Maid Marian turned to Gadget with a smile. "I wonder if all the people here in this new world are equally talented. It will be hard for the judges to pick just one winner of this competition." She turned her gaze to Robin Hood and blushed deeply, giving him a shy smile.

Basil frowned even more after that performance, not because he so despised Lady Tremaine, but because she played so frightfully well.
He was definitely not going to play. If only he had some talent that was quite outstanding. Well, in his own opinion, he had many such talents.
But which could he perform on stage? One couldn't solve a crime for an audience, or solve some abstruse mathematical equation.
It must be something that would make people sit up and take notice.
