<<Prince Ferdinand>>
LOG-IN » Ferdinand.
FILM » Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs [1937].
PERSONALITY » Ferdinand is, without a doubt, a stereotypical fairy-tale prince. He is brave and adventurous. He is willing to take risks, even those that endanger his life. Too, he is also bold and dashing. Despite having good looks and having many women attracted to him, Ferdinand does not gloat about it. He prefers to be looked at for what he is on the inside, rather than the outside.
He is a man of great faith and morals. He, like Snow White, is deeply religious, upholding a strong faith in God that cannot be wavered. Ferdinand holds his values close to his heart, and will speak out against anything he finds to be injust or immoral. He deplores violence, preferring to settle things peacefully (and hopefully with words). When this fails, he will draw his sword. Despite his young age, he is a force to be reckoned with. It is said he is Germany's finest swordsman, and he has yet to be beat in a sword fight.
Ferdinand is also a hopeless romantic. He dwells on thoughts of true love and goodness, and fawns over his beautiful wife. He does what he can to please her, and loves her with all his entirety. Thinking of her can get in the way of important matters, though he has yet to slip up.
He loves animals, just as Snow White does. He considers them some of his greatest friends, and shares his wife's feelings for them. He refuses to go hunting, and he cannot stand to see someone harm an animal.
Ferdinand can also be a bit too late, though usually, this is beyond his control. This is particularly evident of when he got himself caught by Grimhilde's guards and imprisoned in the dungeon. He was too late to stop her from poisoning Snow White, and as a result, he almost lost her. He finds it important he gets to things on time.
HISTORY » Ferdinand was born the son of a powerful king and queen. They instilled in him a great faith in God, as well as high morals and values. Sadly, when he was a very small child, they took ill and died. He swore he would live the best he could, in honor of them. As he grew, Ferdinand was given the best education of his day. He was schooled in every grace and charm, and became a prime example of what a prince should be.
On his 16th birthday, he was given a magnificent stallion as a gift. He decided to take him out for a ride. While riding through a neighboring kingdom, Ferdinand passed by a castle. Behind its walls came the sweetest sound he'd ever heard. He was so charmed by it that he had to discover where it was coming from. He climbed over the castle wall and spotted the fairest maid he'd ever seen. She was raven-haired, with pale skin and ruby lips. She was singing into a well, and Ferdinand joined her in song. Frightened, she retreated into the castle. But he serenaded to her, and it was love at first sight.
He eventually went back to his own kingdom, but could never forget the maiden's sweet voice and face. He knew he was madly in love with her, and longed to see her again. News soon spread through the country that the maiden's stepmother, the wicked Queen Grimhilde, was planning to poison the girl. Hearing the news, Ferdinand mounted his steed and rushed to search for his beloved. He rushed to Snow White's castle. Upon climbing over the wall, he was ambushed by the queen's guards. He was taken to the dungeon and locked away.
It was there the queen revealed to Ferdinand she was in love with him, and had been since she saw him serenading Snow White. She proposed he forget Snow White and marry her, but true to the princess, he refused. She offered him many things – power and wealth beyond his wildest dreams – but he remained defiant. Finding she was getting nowhere, Grimhilde told him if she couldn't have him, no one could. As such, she tried to flood the dungeon before going off to the cottage of the seven dwarfs with her basket of apples. To Ferdinand's amazement, Snow White's animal friends came to his rescue, breaking away his shackles and helping him escape.
He continued to search for the maiden, but news that she was dead soon reached him. He searched for the maiden who slept in the glass coffin, and came upon her in the forest. He serenaded her one last time before approaching her and kissing her farewell. Ferdinand was heartbroken. But behold! Love's first kiss had broken the spell, and Snow White awakened. Overjoyed, he took her in his arms and sat her on his steed. After bidding farewell to the seven dwarfs and their animal friends, Ferdinand and Snow White set off for his castle. It was there they celebrated a joyous wedding.

ROLE-PLAY » Prince Ferdinand rode along, unknowing of where he was. He knew he was in a forest, an unfamiliar one at that. It seemed deathly quiet here, save the clop-clop of his horse's hooves. He wasn't unnerved by it, however; rather, he found it rather calming. The Prince often took rides alone in the forest to take time and reflect, as well as calm himself.
As he and his stallion went, Ferdinand began to hear sad chirping. He wondered where the sound was coming from, and steered his horse in the sound's direction. It didn't take him long to find out what it was. At the base of a tree sat a little bluebird, probably just a baby. Its sad chirping made the Prince stop his horse and dismount.
He walked over to it slowly and with a smile on his face. The poor little thing. It looked absolutely scared to death. He knelt on one knee and reached his hand out to the creature. The bird backed away against the tree. Ferdinand could see how frightened it was. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I'm a friend."
The Prince rested his hand on the ground, upon which the bird cautiously stepped into it. He lifted his hand a bit and stroked the bird gently. "There. You see?" The bird didn't seem as frightened after that, but it still chirped ever so sadly. Ferdinand looked around. "Where's your Mama and Papa?" He looked around, but saw none immediately.
"Are you an orphan? I do hope not. Your parents must be around here somewhere." He then looked up and saw a nest in the tree. There were two other birds in it, both chirping sadly. The Prince smiled. "There they are." He looked with gentle eyes at the bird. "I'm sure you want to get back to them. I'm sure they miss you."
The bird looked up and began to chirp happily. Ferdinand smiled. "You'd better hurry!" He lifted his hand and watched as the bird flew up back to its nest. His heart leaped with joy as the bird was reunited with its parents. The Prince stood and began to walk away, but not before turning around and waving. "Goodbye! Goodbye, little friend!"
