"A tour would be super!" She was glad he wasn't an enemy after all.
"My name's Gadget. And this is Bambi." Wondering about the mouse's weapon, she asked "Are you a warrior or something?"

"As a matter of fact, I pretty much am a warrior," Reepicheep explained as he got up close to Bambi, encouraging him to bend down and get on with Gadget.
Bambi noticed Reepicheep's motion of requesting him to bend down and did so, going into his resting position and allowing the warrior mouse to climb on before getting back on his feet again. Then he followed the directions Reepicheep gave him as the mouse was giving them both a brief tour of Narnia.
Reepicheep started off the tour by showing them the Beaver's Dam, the beauty of the Western Woods, and the Rock Bridge.
In some ways, Bambi certainly found parts of Narnia very much like the forest he grew up in, and there were some parts of it he had never seen before back in the forest. "This certainly doesn't feel like home, that's for sure," he commented.

"It's a beautiful place," said Gadget, and she meant it. "Is it in the southern hemisphere? 'Cause it's winter here, but summer back home."
She thought of another question that was kind of bothering her.
"How does all of Narnia fit inside a little wardrobe?"
"I mean, it's little compared to a whole country."

"Wardrobe?" Reepicheep asked Gadget, as he had no prior knowledge of what went on outside the world he knew and had grown up in.
"Yeah, it doesn't seem to make much sense to me, either," Bambi remarked, agreeing with Gadget. "How does all this land fit into a tiny wardrobe?"
Finding a way to answer their questions, the little mouse replied, "Well, as far as I'm concerned, with the power of and unknown forces of magic, anything can be possible here. And I wouldn't know if this is the 'Southern Hemisphere' as you call it. It's all one land as far as I know. I don't believe I"ve ever been outside Narnia."
"Maybe we can show you what our world is like when we're done exploring here," Bambi said, grinning to Reepicheep.
"Yes, perhaps you could. I would be delighted in that offer."

Gadget thought it would be great to show Reepicheep around her world. But first...
"So, what else is there to see in Narnia? Besides snow?"

"Oh, there is much more to show you about Narnia," Reepicheep explained to Gadget. "It's just that it may be dangerous out there with the evil forces that reside here, including the White Witch and Maugrim, a wolf who works for her. I'd hate to see newcomers like you two get into trouble with people like her."
Bambi grew nervous at the idea of encountering those two villains. "M-maybe being here wasn't such a good idea after all," he said, cringing a little in fear.
"But never you two fear," Reepicheep assured them. "With me being here as your guide, I and the other warriors of Narnia can keep you both safe and out of harm's way."

"A witch? and a wolf?" That sounded pretty dangerous. But Gadget had confidence in Reepicheep.
"If you say you and your warriors can take the bad guys, that's good enough for me. I'm ready for a tour of Narnia."
"What should we see first?"

(Sorry for the delay; combination of low muse and real life)
"Well, there's lots more to show you," Reepicheep said. "We just got to be on our toes in case the White Witch or Maugrim come out to get us."
"But I don't have any toes," Bambi remarked, stepping out his front hooves to prove his point.
"Whichever. You get the idea."
Just up ahead was the Frozen Lake. Immediately, Bambi could recall ever trying to skate out on the ice with Thumper, which wasn't exactly easy as pie. "No way I'm going out there," he said. "I don't want to end up slipping and falling on my stomach again."
"You don't have to," the little mouse said. "We can just go around it and walk along The Great River."
The little fawn agreed and walked along the edge of the lake and the banks of the river, which led them past the Witche's Camp and toward the frozen waterfall. "Just be careful where you step there, Bambi," Reepicheep warned.
"Don't worry, I wo-!" Before Bambi could finish, one of his hooves stepped on a piece of bank that was actually ice, which broke away and flowed away with the current. This made Bambi's heart jump and cause him to fall backward, which encouraged Reepicheep to grab onto Bambi's back with one paw and Gadget's paw with the other. "Whew! That was close!" said Bambi with a startled look on his face.

Up ahead they saw a waterfall covered in ice. Gadget thought it was beautiful...in a scary sort of way.
As Bambi edged closer to the frozen river, Gadget began to ask, "Is it thick enough for us to cross?"
Just then, the fawn stepped on a piece of ice that broke off and floated away. Bambi stumbled then, and Gadget would've fallen off if it hadn't been for Reepicheep's quick thinking.
"Whoa! We almost went into the river that time. And it's way too cold for swimming." She smiled winningly at her rescuer. "Thanks, Reepicheep."

"At your service, M'Lady," Reepicheep said to Gadget, giving a gesture with one paw and bending his head down lightly to acknowledge his rightful duty of helping out his new friends. Then he asked Bambi, "You all right there?"
"Yes, I'm fine," Bambi said, standing back on his four feet. "I just didn't know that would happen. Who knows if I fell in there? I would have accidentally taken you both with me."
"As long as we're on land, we're all OK," Reepicheep replied.
Bambi continued on with the walking through Shuddering Woods and Reepicheep soon raised a paw to say, "Hold it. I sense...danger."
Bambi looked around. "Where? Where?"
"Up ahead. I believe it's Maugrim's pack out on a hunt. We better find a place to hide, and quick."
Bambi scrambled to look for a safe hiding spot, and Reepicheep suddenly spotted a small rocky hill that had an opening which would lead to the inside of a small cave. Thinking quickly, he pointed to it and said, "Over there!" The anxious fawn saw the opening and ran up to it, going inside and getting down to rest on a spot away from the opening. The warrior mouse held Gadget close and kept a careful watch at the opening, saying, "We should be OK in here for a while."

Trying not to move needlessly or to make a sound, Gadget whispered, "What'll we do if they smell us? They are wolves, after all."
Think, Gadget, think! There must be a way to protect ourselves from the wolf pack.
Growing just at the entrance to the cave was a small, scrubby pine tree. Hmmm...pine sap has a very strong smell, she thought to herself. Maybe...
Creeping forward, Gadget pulled a screwdriver from the pocket of her coveralls. She used it to carefully nick the tree and release some of the gooey sap.
The smell of pine would mask the scent of the travellers. At least, Gadget hoped it would.

Reepicheep watched Gadget see what she was doing with the screwdriver and began to realize what good the sap might do. "Aha!" he exclaimed. "I see where you're getting at. The sap's odor will block our scent so that the wolves can't find us. Genius!"
Bambi wondered about the sap and gradually began to understand how its camouflaging effects could work by taking a whiff of the sap himself. "Ohh, I see now! This is a great idea!"
Reepicheep volunteered himself first to gather the sap and smear it on himself. He chuckled to himself thinking how great the sap idea sounded to him. "Why I never thought of this before, I'll never know. Thank you so much for figuring it out, Gadget."

"Thanks, but it's only a great idea if it works. I've never tried this before."
Watching Reepicheep smear sap on himself, she cringed a little. "I think you'll only have to put it on your feet. To cover our tracks. At least, I hope so."
She didn't relish the idea of getting sap in her hair. Instead, Gadget coated the bottoms of her feet with the goop, and then proceeded to spread it on the ground at the mouth of the cave.

Stopping to take note of what Gadget told him of not having to rub the sap all over himself, Reepicheep realized the possible mistake and chose to stop where he was at rubbing the sap into his fur at this point. "You're right. How silly of me," he replied, chuckling to himself in embarassment. Then he helped Bambi with putting the sap on his hooves, hoping the camouflage trick would work.
Bambi giggled at feeling ticklish with the way Reepicheep helped rub the sap onto his hooves. "This tickles," he said with a grin.
Afterward, they were both set and ready to face the forest again. "Well, then, where should we go next on our 'tour'?" Reepicheep asked them both.
Bambi thought about the dangers that occured in Narnia and had fear strike him at the heart, causing him to feel afraid of facing such dangers head on. "I-I think we ought to go back through the wardrobe," he stuttered in a bit of fear. "I've had enough fun here."
Reepicheep took pity on Bambi's natural fear of the unknown and said boldy, while trying to console him, "Ah, but Bambi, think of the adventure! The excitement! Places left to be explored! Places beyond what you know already!"
"Yeah, but...," Bambi replied with some personal conflict going through his mind. Yes, there were things he'd be missing in Narnia, though his personal instinct told him to not go where danger was. He turned to Gadget and asked, "Oh, Gadget, what should we do? Keep going or turn back and head back through the wardrobe?"

Personally, Gadget was perfectly willing to explore for a while longer. She had complete confidence in Reepicheep's ability to keep them safe.
But she felt sorry for Bambi, he seemed so scared. After all, he was only a kid. And wolves must be especially scary to a fawn.
"I'm kind of cold. I think we should go back." It was the truth, though not the whole truth.
"You know the way back, don't you, Reepicheep?"
