Phantom Manor
Character's Personality:
Melanie Ravenswood is depressed, seriously depressed. She took depression into the levels of dementia, obsessing over her lost love until the day of her death… and beyond. If Melanie wants something, she won’t take no for an answer. If she loves something, she’ll never accept that she has to let it go. Yet Melanie is not entirely doom and gloom, at least she didn’t use to be, and if she’s ever distracted from her loss she can be a reckless free spirit, doing whatever she wants to regardless of the consequences. Miss Ravenswood is incredibly loyal; never abandoning those she cares about even when the situation is truly hopeless. She is also however rather naïve, often refusing to believe the worse of people despite the evidence. She’ll never forget the things important to her, even if she has to wait for an eternity.
Character's History:
The tale of Melanie Ravenswood is not a happy one. She moved to the town of Thunder Mesa many years ago, when her father struck it rich in the gold rush. Though to say she moved there isn’t strictly true, for the town sprung up around the mine operations. The Ravenswood became rich very quickly; building a large and elegant manner that looked over the town they had been responsible for founding. Henry Ravenswood and his wife Martha wanted nothing but the best for their daughter, unfortunately growing up spoiled created a reckless streak in Melanie that often caused her to disobey her parent’s orders.
Unfortunately for the young Miss Ravenswood, there was one transgression that was too serious for her father to forgive. Henry often attempted to set her up with the various rich young men in the area; however Melanie turned her back on him and instead got engaged to a railroad worked, planning to leave town with him as soon as they were married. Her father was enraged and determined to stop the marriage, however two months before the set date both he and his wife were killed in an earthquake that struck Thunder Mesa. Melanie was distraught by the death of her parents, pushing back the date of the wedding by several months whilst she dealt with her grief. Unfortunately, this gave Henry just the time he needed to form his plan.
Even death itself was not enough to sway Henry Ravenswood’s determination to stop his daughter’s marriage; leading him to return to the world in the form of the terrifying Phantom. On the day of Melanie’s wedding he lured the groom into the Mansion’s portrait gallery and hung him from the rafters, sealing away the body so that it would never be discovered. Miss Ravenswood never learnt what had happened to her husband, not believing that he would simply leave her at the altar. Her depression turned into an obsession, and she spent the rest of her days roaming the manner still dressed in her expensive wedding gown, waiting for her true love to return to her.
Like Henry’s determination to stop the wedding, Melanie’s determination to find her love again was enough to bring her back from the world beyond as well, locking the Bride and Phantom in an eternal struggle for power within the manner, over its cursed and haunted inhabitants.

A soft yet hauntingly elegant peal of song was ringing clear through Main Street, chilling the hearts of everybody that heard it. It wasn’t hard to find the source, for the pale redhead rather stuck out from the crowd, after all a wedding dress wasn’t the usual attire for visiting Disney World. Several, more curious guests looked like they were about to say something to the girl who seemed to have simply stepped out of thin air, however the look of grief in her eyes was enough to send all onlookers scurrying away again in search of something more happy.
“Where are you, darlin'?” muttered Melanie Ravenswood, turning translucent for a moment as she stepped through a shaft of direct sunlight, “darling please come back…” she wiped a pearly tear from her eye, which dropped to the ground and vanished without marking the tarmac. The bride stepped back into the shadows, becoming opaque once again, however this didn’t sway the shocked expressions on those who had seen her fade away for a moment.
“Excuse me miss?” began a rather nervous voice from nearby, “are you okay?” Surprised, Melanie turned to face the source of the noise, identifying it as the young boy stood just to her right. She’d been locked away in the manner for so long that she wasn’t immediately sure what to do, however eventually knelt down so that she could talk to him eye to eye.
“No sugar, I’m not,” replied the ghostly bride honestly, yet still in a friendly, if rather dejected, voice, “but I do declare I will be one day. You’ll see…” she half smiled, tousling the boy’s hair for a moment before straightening up again and almost floating down the street, although in truth she was just moving smoothly. One thing that many people do not know about ghosts is that they are only incorporeal when they want to be. Most of the time the spirits left behind are perfectly capable of interfering with the human world, so it was perfectly natural for Melanie to be able to pick up a map someone had discarded on the ground.
“Haunted Mansion?” she murmured, reading aloud from the map. Why, that sounded like they were mocking her haunting race, making them an object of amusement. She would have to take a look at that if she ever got the opportunity. Her search was the main reason she was here, for Melanie was determined to search the whole world for her true love if she had to, regardless of how long it took. And Walt Disney world was the perfect place to look, for with so many people passing through each day and so many different places one could hide, it could be eons before she was convinced enough to leave again.

I already play Ariel.

I certainly do!
Anything you need us to know or any questions?
I kinda doubt Melanie Ravenswood will be allowed, being from a ride. Her history is a combination of the official stuff and the most common fan interpretations. It’s what I’ve always believed to be her story.
