Arthur found himself wandering in a strange forest. The sun's harsh rays beat down upon the boy, burning his pale skin. It made him wish he were somewhere shady, preferably inside. But sadly, such a luxury evaded him in this place. The trees in this forest were the strangest Arthur had ever seen, quite thick and towering to the sky. There was also tall grass everywhere, reaching up to Arthur's waist.
He found it difficult to wade through the grass. It was like trying to move against the rough currents of a river; it kept forcing you back. For a time, the boy tolerated this. But when he began to find himself tiring out, he had to think of something. Then, an idea came to him. Arthur unsheathed his sword, Excalibur, from his side. He swung it in front of him, finding it easily cut the grass. This would make it easier for him to walk through. So Arthur went, slicing his way through the tall grass.
Eventually, the boy found himself out of the tall grass. He sheathed Excalibur and went on. Arthur began to wonder if anyone he knew was here. He called out their names as he went among the trees. "Father!" "Merlin!" "Archimedes!" he would say. But after a time with no response, Arthur became resigned. He guessed they weren't here.
He turned to leave and continue looking when...

A little owl floated on the winds, high up in the sky, above the forest. How strange winds there was today, the owl; Archimedes thought. They almost sounded like.. a voice. A very faint, but familiar voice.. Thinking better of it, he looked down, to discover that his imagination weren`t just imagination at all. A little boy was wandering alone in the forest below him. A boy that looked a lot like Arthur. He made a swing, as he lowered his flight closer to the boy. He dived at fast speed down the last metres, casuing the hoptoads to jump frightened in every direction. Now, so there you are, boy. he spoke strictly, though glad to finally see him again. The closest you`ll get to a friendly reunion-greeting from Archimedes. Merlin is looking for you.
(.. and he`s here any minute. let`s just say they share a special bond *winks*)

The sound of beating wings caused Arthur to stop and turn around. When he looked, he saw a brown owl land on a nearby branch. The boy recognized who it was immediately. "Archimedes, it's you!" he exclaimed. He hadn't seen the old owl since Merlin, he, and himself arrived at the park. Arthur was certainly glad to see him again.
Archimedes spoke rather harshly to the boy, but he'd learned by now not to take it to heart. Archimedes was always cranky and irritable, probably from staying out all night. That's what Merlin had said anyway. The owl told Arthur Merlin was looking for him. Arthur's eyes went wide. "Merlin! Oh Archimedes, where is he?" the boy asked. He hadn't seen Merlin since he'd been lost in the woods of Discovery Island, and missed him dearly.

Archimedes landed on the boy`s shoulder. off course it`s me, did you expect another owl today? he replied a sarcastically. Oh he`s here any minute now, he replied to the boy`s question. Rubbing on his still hurting tail, he was relieved that his master new student weren`t around today. He still got an open scar, were his feathers had been blown away. ( background story: lessons of magic in discovery island)
So what have you been up to lately, boy? Met Merlin`s new apprentice yet? He spat out the word apprentice, the thought of Esmeralda weren`t to pleasant. Or should i say apprentices.., he added, as he came to remember that medieval princess they had come to know recently.
As they talked, a tall man in blue, came up from behind them. He had gotten the call from his owl, of were their little king`s whereabouts. he smiled relieved when he spotted the two of them in the jungle. He knew he had neglected the boy a bit recently, which shouldn`t be happening. For the case of England, and for history, he had to make a king out of him somehow.
Why hello, Arthur, Merlin greeted, happy that the boy hadn`t ran into trouble while he were gone.

Arthur smiled lightly as Archimedes landed on his shoulder. He spoke to the boy with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Of course not, Archimedes." Arthur replied. The owl then told him Merlin would be there any moment. It was no surprise that the boy was quite excited. He'd missed having the wizard around. It'd be nice to see him again.
Archimedes asked Arthur what he'd been up to, and if he'd met Merlin's other student. The boy chuckled. "Oh, not much. I've just been looking about the park. I seem to keep getting lost." He wasn't so happy about that. "As for Esmeralda, yes, I've met her; many times, in fact. She's such a kind person." The boy saw a motherly figure in her, though he hadn't told her that yet. He didn't really know how she'd react. But from how Hercules had described her, she'd probably be glad.
Just then, a tall man with a long, snowy beard dressed in blue appeared. It was none other than Merlin. Arthur's face lit up instantly. "Sir, it's you! I'm so glad to see you!" he exclaimed.

Archimedes looked shocked at Arthur, as he spoke fondly of Esmeralda. KIND!?....She`s barking mad, that what she is! he spluttered. Just look at my tail, he added, pointing towards his injured tail feathers.
Merlin, who had appeared just in time to overhear his owl`s judgment of Esmeralda, chuckled. Now, if i remember right you weren`t quite that harsh when she let you out of that cage, he commented dryly, before turning back to Arthur.
It`s good to see you again as well, he grinned. And still in one piece i see. I suppose that means it`s still hope for you, he blinked jokingly.

Arthur frowned as he listened to how Archimedes described Esmeralda. "She's not mad! She's good, and everything about her is good too!" he defended. The owl then pointed to his tail. The boy looked at it. It was missing several feathers, and there was dried blood on it. Arthur gasped, his anger fading into concern for Archimedes. "Archimedes, what happened to you?" he asked.
Merlin then appeared, commenting dryly on the owl's comment about Esmeralda before turning to the boy. He too seemed glad to see Arthur again, and mentioned he was still in one piece. "Likewise, Sir." he replied. Arthur smiled lightly, knowing the last part was only a joke. "Oh, I suppose so." he added.

Archimedes just glared at him, not believing what he heard. What happened..? he echoed the young king`s question. I tell you what happened, that dreadful gypsy witch happened, he growled.
Merlin grinned, both with humor over his owl`s temper, and relieved to see Arthur again. Now, it have been quite a while since a saw you, he commented. It have taken up a lot of time to.. sort out things with Esmeralda, to put it that way. he admitted, a bit shamefully for neglecting him. A certain owl, however, have yet to sort things out, he added dryly, with a look at Archimedes, who snorted in return. So, how have you been doing in the meanwhile? he asked concerned. (psst.. that`s your keyword to spill your little story Arthie)

Arthur's eyebrows slanted, his mouth turning downwards into a frown as he listened to Archimedes speak poorly of Esmeralda. The boy couldn't and wouldn't stand to hear anyone talk so horribly about her. He liked her too much to let that happen. He would've said something, had Merlin not stepped in and spoken up.
The wizard told the boy it'd been some time since he last saw Arthur. Arthur's expression softened and he nodded. "Yes, Sir, it has." he replied. Merlin explained why this had been. He said it'd taken quite some time to sort things out with Esmeralda. The boy didn't know much about her relationship with Merlin, other than that she was a witch-in-training. Merlin spoke with a bit of regret in his voice.
Archimedes, apparently, however, had yet to do such a thing. Arthur looked at the owl, sighed, then looked back at Merlin. "It's alright. Esmeralda's training is quite important."
The wizard then asked the boy how he'd been doing. A wide smile appeared on Arthur's face. "Oh, Merlin! I have a father now!" he exclaimed.

But that`s no excuse, Merlin replied to Arthur`s comment about important Esmeralda`s training was, still feeling bad about neglecting him. Indeed, her training is important, but so is yours. After all you`re the legendary King of England. Or will be. Merlin chuckled, if the boy new of all the books and movies featuring different versions of their story, he would`ve been surprised.
Instead, it were Merlin who startled in surprise, as Arthur confessed to have a father. How?.. Who? he stuttered. For a minute, he hoped it were his old friend Uther who had rose from the dead. But that had been too much of a miracle, he told himself. So who could`ve adopted the boy..?

Arthur listened to Merlin continue to apologize to him. He explained that while yes, Esmeralda's training was important, so was his. The boy frowned when Merlin called him the legendary king of England. Arthur hated being so. He smiled weakly at the old wizard. "Please, don't worry about it." he pleaded.
After the boy had mentioned how he now had a father, Merlin looked at him with a shocked look. He stuttered as he spoke, asking Arthur how this had happened, and who'd adopted him. The boy's face beamed as he spoke in a rather cheerful voice. "Oh, Sir! I met a lion named Kopa not long ago. He treated me like his son the moment we met, and I finally asked him if he'd be my father. And he said yes! So now I'm his son!"

( okay Kopa *squeezehugs cute lion) Kopa you say? Merlin smiled, happy the boy had started to find family on his own. I think i know him, actually. How fitting you found a lion as a father. You know, lions are natural born kings. He commented, with a humorous glimpse in his eyes. He knew Arthur hadn`t yet grown comfortable in his role as a king, and couldn`t help but tease him a bit from time to time. Then a idea hit him, lions.. kings.. he mumbled quietly to himself. You know, he spoke up. It`s pretty long since our first lessons in good old days isn`t it? he blinked. As a side thought, he suddenly remembered his newest apprentice, Eilonwy. If she still were so, she didn`t seem to be very fond of his habits of changing his student into animals. I wonder what she would`ve said if she`d seen me back then, he thought quietly to himself, chuckling.

Arthur nodded to his tutor as the wizard repeated the name Kopa. The boy was worried of what Merlin's reaction might be. It certainly wasn't commonplace for a child to have an animal for a parent. But Merlin simply smiled at Arthur, telling him he knew Kopa, and that he certainly approved of the boy's choice. A wide smile appeared on the boy's face. "Oh, do you mean it, Sir?!" he asked cheerfully.
The wizard then commented that it'd been quite some time since they'd had any lessons. Arthur knew he was speaking about when they first met, and he was being transformed into different creatures. "Yes, Sir, it has." the boy replied. He'd grown accustomed to it after a while, and certainly did miss those old days before he became King. But the boy could sense that Merlin had something up his sleeve. But what could it be?

Merlin smiled of the boy`s excitement. What i know of him, Kopa is a good enough fellow, he replied, glad for Arthur`s sake. It was on time he got a parent to look after him. Someone who didn`t treat him like dirt, like sir Ector had.
Ever thought of being a lion yourself? he asked out of the air, with a tone of humor in his voice. Knowing the answer he pulled out his wand in all silence, mumbling. Weggetus Meggetus Abra doo. Miggety Waggity shabbity doo.
