Basil searched the cottage from cellar to garrett. The place was filled with odd contraptions, intriguing inventions similar to the type of thing he had built back in his rooms in London to make prints of various shoes for study.
Could he have built these things?
There was no sign of Queen Susan; somehow, he felt she was in danger and it was his duty to find her before...before what?
Basil didn't know, and it troubled him. Why could he not remember?
Stepping outside to search the grounds, Basil found some traces that could only be Susan's dainty shoes. They lead away from the cottage, into the forest. Toward the castle.
Where did that come from? What castle?
The mouse frowned, suspecting that something was interfering with his thoughts, tampering with his mind. And he didn't like it.

*BANG!!!!*
"I GOT IT, GASTON!!!!!" Jim yelped, awaking with a start. He had fallen asleep on a bench near a fountain, right in the middle of a bustling square in a little town... How in the Etherium did he get here? And to boot, he was dressed in a tacky suit that was much too big for him, and his hair was somehow much longer and pulled into a low ponytail.
Jim held open a sack that he found about his person, holding it open and staring at the sky as he tried to catch a falling bird... when it hit him.
What was he doing? And who the heck was Gaston? Why was he trying to catch falling game? And why did he have such a delayed reaction to the whole thing?!
*Plop.* The bird hit the pavement in front of a ridiculously buff and handsome man, leaving Jim staring slack-jawed, quite stupidly. How did he miss that...? He was certain that his positioning and calculation of the bird's trajectory had been correct...
Wait... huh? What did trajectory mean? Oh, no. Jim thought, worried. Augh! Quick, if the diameter of a circle is 4.5 inches and if I use 3.14 for Pi... Jim couldn't remember how to complete the problem! And why did they even call it Pi? Jim clutched his head and moaned... all his intelligence... down the toilet...
Ooh, speaking of Pi, he was getting pretty hungry...
Hardly knowing what he was doing, Jim trotted over to the burly man, spouting out numerous apologies for not catching the bird.
"Yeep! Gaston, I-I-I missed it, It's all my fault! But what a great shot! You've got to be the greatest hunter in the world! No beast alive stands a chace against you! And no girl, for that matter!" Jim said with fawning admiration, waving and winking to the pretty girl who was looking at Gaston.

Susan let out a gasp as the small clock bounced into the hall. Her hand went to her mouth in shock as the clock talked. "I'm a girl, yes, do I look like a boy?" she whispered to herself behind her hand. She lowered it and stared at the clock. "I'm so awfully sorry--the master?" Susan cut herself off, eyebrows rising above the blue eyes. "Oh, oh! I shouldn't be here if there's a master of the house! It's so rude to intrude on someone's company!"
It was then that a candlestick entered the hall. She covered her face in shock and started away towards the staircase. She would have to leave before intruding on this 'Master's' home. She hadn't known there was anyone in the house.
"Maybe I'm dreaming," she whispered to herself.

“Yes yes Lumiére, but more importantly, does the Master know?” babbled Cogsworth (Doppler), unsure himself where these words were coming from. In fact, the surer he was that he had no clue what was happening, the more he seemed to know about the tragic story of the castle. “If not, why someone should tell him at once!” He lowered his voice in an attempt to stop Susan from hearing him. However he suspected that she was so close that the attempt was futile.
“This could finally be our chance to break the curse!” Cogsworth (Doppler) suddenly became aware that Susan was about to leave. Thinking on the spot he sprang forward and seized the hem of her clothes, giving them a sharp tug.
“Ah but you haven’t had… the tour yet!” he began uncertainly, “you can’t leave now!” He leant in to Lumiére (Jose) once again. “Do something!”

Belle (Susan) let out a gasp, the hem of her skirt had been grabbed by the clock. Her ears had perked up at the words 'break the curse'. She had been thinking of what curse could've befallen this place. Perhaps the curse of emptiness and lack of light. The girl walked forward a few more paces before giving up and stopping in place.
"Tour? What tour?" she asked, looking from the clock to the candlestick. I'm talking to a clock. Belle (Susan) thought to herself with a mental groan of frustration.

Ah yes, the curse of the castle... To tell the truth, the parrot-turned candlestick didn't quite know why he was remembering all of this. In fact, it was only when he assumed this... candlestick form when he learned all about it.
Seeing his friend's frantic attempts to get the girl to stay, Lumiére (José) decided to help him out. He quickly hopped in front of the woman's path. "Ah yes," he said, "no visitor leaves without a tour of the castle. It would be rude for the master to know that a visitor has come here without first seeing the castle. It's part of the tradition." Suddenly he realized that the maiden did not officially know them. "Oh, pardon me for not saying this before, mademoiselle," the candlestick apologized. "Allow us to introduce ourselves. I am Lumiére, and this is my friend Cogsworth." Since when did he speak French...? Better yet, since when was his name Lumiére?

The girl knitted her hands together in front of her. She should've been getting home, her father would be getting worried. Her father? Oh yes, in the village, in the workshop...her eyes slid in and out of focus briefly at the dim memory from...that morning? How could it have been that morning? The girl shook her head again, a small movement at another memory. The brawny animal that had been followed around by Lefou and the girl who practically worshipped the ground he walked on.
"Well, if you promise that it wouldn't be rude to your...um...master...I guess I could take the, er, tour." her mind strayed back to her book, she would pick it up on her way out after the tour, unless it was too dark after the tour to head home.

((AHAHA!!! Foxy, you're a genius!! I can't stop laughing at how you put Gaston's dialogue in Brer Fox's accent!!))
Jim's... Lefou's eyes widened in amazement and confusion.
"The inventor's daughter? But she's... I mean, she's just... I know, b-but.." Lefou stuttered.
His simple mind couldn't exactly process why Gaston would want Belle... Sure, she was the most gorgeous girl in town, and even Lefou drooled at the very sight of her. But she was always... reading. Sensible girls didn't read! Real ladies were always ready to impress the men, even though Lefou himself had never been admired by a woman... But Belle? She never admired anyone! Her face was always buried in a stupid book!
Lefou suddenly flinched as Gaston lifted him up by his collar, a rather common action.
"Eeep! Of course you do!" he squeaked, his short legs flailing about in the air. "You always deserve the best!!"

Fifi (Esmeralda) had finished her duties in the kitchen, not easy when you are the size of a featherduster wearing a maid's uniform, and with a goat transformated into a featherduster small enough for you to work with.
She made her way through the castle, her hips swaying seductively and she tickled Lumiére playfully in the face with the featherduster Djali before she turned to the guest with a polite curtsey and smiled brightly, hoping she could melt the guest to stay.
"Welcome to our castle, Mylady. I hope you will enjoy your stay here."
She turned to José and whispered to him.
"She is very beautiful. I think she can break the curse."

Elisa followed Gaston, wondering how much longer he wanted her to hold this bird. Le Fou was also following him, complimenting him on his shot, his skills, and his overall greatness.
Upon hearing Gaston speak of Belle, however, she burned with jealously, dropping the bird on Le Fou's head.
"What on earth does he see in that bookworm?"
"She wouldn't even give him the time of day!"
"Why doesn't he want me?"
Elisa was going insane. It wasn't like her to be jealous, or throw herself at men, particularly guys who thought they were God's gift to women. But every time she started to walk away, she'd get a glimpse of Gaston flexing his muscles, and she'd melt.
"Whatever's happening to me, it can stop anytime now." Elisa thought as she gazed at Gaston, once more wishing he would take her in his arms and kiss her.

"Oh, excellent," the Brazilian said in response to the hopeful guest. "We'll get started right away."
All of a sudden, Lumiére (José) felt some feathers lightly tickle his face. Who else should it be but the lovely Fifi (Esmeralda)? A smile crept onto his face as she curtsied and introduced herself to the newcomer. After all, the new girl should know about all the servants of the castle as well, no?
"Oh yes," he whispered back to his sweetheart, "it is my hopes as well as yours. Do you want to go on a tour of the castle with the three of us?" he asked the maid, motioning over to Cogsworth (Doppler) and Belle (Susan).

Fifi (Esmeralda) giggled flirtatously and blushed by the sight of Lumiére (José). She had been afraid he might send her back to the kitchen to help wash the dishes. She should have known that he wouldn't force her into boring work like that. She tickled him playfully with the featherduster again.
"I would love to go on a tour of the castle with the three of you. If Madame allows it of course," she said, looking up at Belle (Susan) and offered her a beaming smile.
Then she turned to Cogsworth (Doppler) and gave him a curtsey as well.
"Bonjour, Monsieur Cogsworth. Have you seen the Master today? Someone should inform him that we have a guest."

Cogsworth (Doppler) sighed in exasperation as Fifi (Esme) approached the group and began to flirt with Lumiére (José). He gently pushed the maid, moving her away from the group.
“Someone certainly should,” he began, turning back to face Belle (Susan) once again, “so why don’t you go and do that whilst I proceed with the tour.” The clock had little patience for the flirtatious feather duster, though for reasons he couldn’t quite remember she always reminded him of a cat. What an odd thing to think.
“Now then if you’ll turn your attention to this fine example of a 16th century tapestry…” within seconds Cogsworth (Doppler) had launched into full lecture mode and was telling the story of the tapestry in great detail. Which was strange, as he’d swear he’d never seen it before.

Lumiére (José) quickly rushed to Fifi's (Esme's) defense. "Cogsworth! I am surprised at you!" he exclaimed. "She cannot go to see the Master right away, escpecially in his..." He did a quick glance at Belle (Susan) before continuing. "... er, current condition."
The candlestick stood beside his sweetheart. "I will go see him in her place," he announced before turning to the maid. "Enjoy yourself on the tour, mon amour," the Brazilian said before lightly kissing her on the cheek.

Fifi (Esmeralda) had looked up at Cogsworth with eyes like a frightened doe when he pushed her aside, forcing her to go to see the master. Didn't he know what Masters did to featherdusters who dared to disturb him before breakfast? He wasn't serious, was he? Her unhappy eyes turned to Lumiére (José) for help, and once again her knight in shining armor, well albeit silver candlelight holder, came to her rescue.
Fifi blushed and smiled when her sweetheart stood beside her, but she was a bit anxious when he said he would go to the master in her place. She placed a tiny hand on his arm.
"Oh, Lumiére, you are so brave! You will be careful, won't you?"
She looked deeply into his eyes, then she stood on her toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"My hero!"
