Warren's gaze jerked over to Audrey when she mentioned her mother. His dark eyes held an emotion rarely seen in the teenage pyro: concern. "Your mother is..." he trailed off. "I'm so sorry. I only have one parent, too. Well, my dad ain't dead, but... uh, he's got a life sentence." Quadruple-life sentence, Warren thought, careful not to dwell on the subject too much.
He looked at Audrey with an amused expression as she criticized his spanish. "Roll my tongue?" Warren tried with another word in his very limited spanish dictionary. "Rojo..." All he managed was flicking the 'r' off the roof of his mouth. "Errr..." he tried again, hilariously failing. "I can't get it!" he laughed, blowing a rasberry. "I've heard it's genetic or something. Guess I just don't have it."
"And I think that most you ever need to know of any language is how say, 'I need food', 'Where is the bathroom?', and perhaps a few well-placed curses." Warren said teasingly as he gently elbowed Audrey.
"The thing is, learing chinese..." Warren trailed off with an impish smile. "I can actually understand what my boss is saying, and it's quite the learning experience. It's funny how creative the chef's language can get when she's yelling at me to get my lazy butt in gear for the lunch rush."
Warren raised his index finger in a "wait a sec" guesture, then pulled out a cell phone from his back pocket.
"Hey, would it be okay if I could get your number?" he asked, flipping his phone open. "I thought I could call you sometime if you ever want to hang out again."

"Aah," Rosetta sighed happily.
A job well done! Rosetta was so pleased - this looked like a match made in the heavens! That girl had just met to boy of her dreams, Rosetta was sure of it! And she was sure of many things in her life.
She blew a kiss as they began to walk away. "Best of luck, buttercup," she said to herself.
And off she went.
*Exit Rosetta* ... but she WILL be back!

Audrey laughed at Warren's raspberry. But what had he meant by life sentence... "Hey, it's not my fault you have a genetic problem that won't allow you to speak my language!" She said with a smile. "Anyway, I think you'll survive without knowing any Spanish!" It was weird to think that anyone couldn't pronounce spanish, it was easy. Well at least to herself it was.
Audrey snorted at his food comment and rolled her eyes. "You are such a guy, stomach's first!" She widened her eyes and laughed at his reasoning for Chinese. "Okay I guess that does make sense, but my boss is my Dad as a me-" Shoot! She couldn't say mechanic that was in no way girly! "Er- well my Dad was my boss for a while, so it wouldn't have a use for me!" Audrey concluded with a nervous laugh.
"Number?" Audrey stared at Warren's cell phone wide eyed. She'd seen the shiny contraptions but refused to believe something like that was possible. Could people really have phones that could be used without wiring? Audrey had seen the advanced technologies, but were they really that far ahead?
"Uh... I don't really have a 'number' per say." She murmered sheepishly still gazing at the phone with longing. Audrey hadn't seen anything as interesting as that for ages.
{Sorry for taking so long, crazy busy and bad muse TT_TT}

"Ouch, your dad's your boss?" Warren laughed, pushing his glasses up his nose. Uber-dorky guesture. Nicely done. Warren noticed that Audrey stayed away from discussing her job... What was the problem? Was she embarassed about working with her dad? She had come close to mentioning her profession a few times, but had always stopped. It started with an 'M'... Was she keeping something from him?
A small look of confusion crossed Warren's face as Audrey looked at his phone. Her expression... it was like he was holding a ray-gun or something.
He opened his mouth to ask what she meant when she mentioned that she didn't have a number... but then it dawned on him.
"You're from the past, aren't you?" Warren asked, handing Audrey his phone for her to look at. "What era are you from?"
He flipped open the phone for her. "Telephones go smaller and wireless in the future. You can also type a message on the buttons here..." he demonstrated with a message to Will that read: '(//-^) <-- EMO XD'
"And then you push 'send', and the phone rings and the other person just reads the message. It's called 'texting'."
Warren's own phone sang a Metallica ringtone, and Warren tapped one of the keys to reveal a reply from Will: 'Pyro-Freak! XP XD'
Warren snapped the phone closed and whisked it away from Audrey before she could inquire about the 'Pyro-Freak' comment. Warren blushed a bit... that was close. He have to be careful not to let Layla or anyone else reveal his powers... Surely they'd scare Audrey.
"I guess I'll send you a... letter." Wow. An actual letter written with a pen. There's something you don't see everyday...

Audrey cringed as Warren slid his glasses up his nose in just about the nerdiest move that she could think of. Wow, if this goes anywhere I am seriously going to have to stop that. It was just so... Milo.
"Past...? Oh right! Yeah I met some of you futuristic people before, it's so weird." She said in a dazed tone still following the cell phone with her eyes. "Well I guess I'm from... 1914. Um... like the titanic sank two years ago if you want something to mark it." Audrey said awkwardly, it was so strange that think different time era's could live together."
She watched the phone carefully as Warren's fingers typed out a message and an impossibly quick pace. "Ah mi dios..." Audrey murmered in astonishment, it was amazing.
And then with a little beep another message popped up, with something... py- though Audrey couldn't read it before the phone was quickly stolen away. "That's really cool!" She exclaimed exitedly, she wanted to buy one of those now and take it apart! Imagine the cranks and gears and everything inside of that!
"Yeah, a letter would be great thanks. Sorry but I've never seen a phone that doesn't need a cord, it's kinda' odd." Audrey explained politely. She felt kind of smug, this boy was actually willing to write her a letter maybe she didn't look too bad after all.

Warren gave a low whistle. "1914? Wow, you're right from the dawn of World War I... That makes our eras almost a century apart!"
Warren smirked as an idea popped into his head. "You wanna see something else that's cool?" he said as he led Audrey over to a photo booth. He popped a dollar into the slot, then held open the curtain for Audrey.
"Alright, just look at that lens and smile..." Warren said as the camera flashed.
"Now quick! Strike another pose!"
The camera flashed three more times, and the pyro got out and retrieved two slips of photos.
"Check it out..." He said to Audrey with a smug grin, handing her a copy. "Photos are in color now."

Audrey stared bewilderedly as Warren dragged her over to a small photo booth, that promptly began flashing. The first picture had to be one of shock, but for the other ones she tried her best to make some poses, following Warren's lead on the funny faces.
"That is like crazy. Do you often use those small little booth's for pictures?" She asked bewildered. It was such an odd thing.
Audrey laughed at the little set of pictures. Even if she looked like a deer in the headlights the pictures were pretty cool, and they were in color! The future was pretty awesome.
"Ah esto es tan refresca! Have you done this before, these are so cool!" Audrey exclaimed carefully craddling her little set of pictures.

"Only a few times." Warren answered her, a slight smile creeping over his face as he looked at the pictures. In the first one, Audrey looked just like someone whom Warren was giving "the look" to...
Warren laughed, a true rarity. It was a deep, joyful sound, resonating in Warren's low voice. Warren almost stopped his chuckle halfway through out of shock. I'm laughing... When's the last time I did that?
Wow... maybe this whole thing wouldn't be a waste of his time after all. She was pretty, funny... And she seemed just as nervous as he was. Sure, she was a bit of a girly-girl... But he didn't have to stick with her, right?
And she made him smile. Almost no one could do that.
Warren stuffed his set of pictures into his jeans, turning back to Audrey. "So... how about the rest of the park?"

Audrey laughed along with Warren at the pictures, even with her pride she had to agree that the look on her face was priceless.
"Ai yai yai, I can't believe that you actually pay for these pictures, and in color too!" She exclaimed with a giggle. Despite all the tortures Rosetta had put her through Audrey had to admit that she wa having a fun time, Warren was cool. Even with the glasses.
"The rest of the park... Oh right, yeah well um, do you want to go look around then?" She stammered awkwardly. Audrey wasn't exactly known for being smooth.
But hey, this had to count as a date right? Maybe that would teach Milo a thing or two. "come on let's go!" Audrey announced more resolutely grabbing Warren's hand and marching off to the trains. No way was she letting this chance escape her.
