“I just told you,” replied Eilonwy with a slight giggle in her voice, “I made it myself. Well, I suppose as its glass I didn’t really make it, but it’s only animated because of my magic. Though I’m not sure you’d be able to make one,” she looked at Esmeralda apologetically, “your type of magic seems to require constant effort whilst mine is more instinctive. Not that you don’t have an instinct for magic, it’s just the styles are too different.” She looked back to Merlin as he asked her about her precious magic instructor.
“Well my only other instructor was my mother,” she began, however her explanation was interrupted by a brief and friendly argument between Esmeralda and Merlin over the subject of her study, which culminated in Merlin whipping out his wand and transforming Esme into… well a very large, if strange looking dragon.
“Oh my!” she exclaimed, bauble whirling around her defensively in case Esme’s new form turned out to be a danger, "what did you do that for!?" She rounded on Merlin angrily. "Is this supposed to be teaching? Mutating your pupils for disagreeing with you?" She stamped one foot as she crossed her arms. "You're just as bad as... as that pirate!" And quite unexpectedly, she turned and began to storm away.

Archimedes just couldn`t help himself, the sight of a dragon in a DRESS was just too hilarious. He laughed so hard he almost fell down of the branch he was sitting on.
His laughter quickly silenced as he felt a burning,g sting in his tiny tail.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOW
He howled in pain as he half jumped half ran several meters out in thin air, rubbing his butt.
He went in for a high speeded dive to hide behind Merlin, yelling, oh my.. she`s totally mad! She`s a lunatic! Hide me from that.. that..! He ducked behind his master`s back, throwing a suspicious glance back at the dragon, in case it followed.
Merlin crooked in laughter. Deep inside he felt a bit bad for his dear pet, but the way he had acted towards Esmeralda he had practically begged for it.
However, he became deadly serious again, as his other student, Eilonwy, started yelling at him. Calm down Princess, i`m only giving her a task worthy a proud witch like herself, he tried to calmly reason with her. That didn`t work too well, she quickly turned on her heels to run away, comparing him with a pirate. Which pirate did she mean? he wondered confused, pondering weather or not he should follow her.

Esmeralda the dragon looked at the wand in confusion. For one moment she had forgotten how to use it. She held it between her front claws, examining it curiously, sniffing it. A spark from the wand hit her, and she started shrinking.... and shrinking.... and shrinking...
When she finally stopped, she was standing on the ground. Everything was much taller than she was. She looked down at herself in worry, relieved when she noticed her dress had shrinked along with her. Her eyes widened when she discovered that she now had turned into a mouse.
In fact, she was a very cute little mouse, with fur the same color as her skin in human form. She had kept her long, raven curls, and her emerald eyes under long, dark eyelashes. She had mouse ears, and she had a very well-shaped body under her rainbow colored dress. When she spoke, she sounded like one of Cinderella's female mouse friends.
She looked up at Merlin in confusion. Then she noticed Archimedes looked at her... with lust in his eyes. Lust for food, that was. Suddenly she remembered that owls eat mice.
A vicious grin went over Archimedes' face and his green eyes started to glow. He flapped his wings, and started chasing Esmeralda around in the room. Esmeralda ran as fast as she could, trying to avoid the owl's attacks. Then it happened, the one thing that should not happen in a situation like this. She got stuck in a crack in the ground, and couldn't get free. And Archimedes flew in circles above her, getting ready to catch himself a tasty meal. Esmeralda saw him coming and screamed.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"

Eilonwy turned back for a moment as she heard the scream, looking back and spotting the mouse about to be devoured alive by the owl.
“What did you do to her now?” she yelled angrily at Merlin before rushing over and scooping up Esmeralda to safety, inadvertently kicking away the gypsy girl’s wand at the same time. “Though one can’t deny she’s so cute like this; just like Gurgi when he wants an apple.” She smiled as she remembered the odd creature she had encountered, however soon rounded on Merlin again. “I’m getting her away from you until you turn her into a flea or something next!” She twirled on the spot and began to walk away, completely oblivious to the fact that she was carrying Esme away from her wand, or that it hadn’t been Merlin to change her into a mouse.
“I’ll find you a nice cage until I work out the spell,” she told Esme calmly, “not that one can’t do it, it’s just that it’s beyond anything I’ve attempted before. Oh! I’ll get you one of those wheels too.” Her bauble floated behind her, flashing in an attempt to draw the Princess’s attention to the discarded Wand.

((This post is perfect Eilonwy! ;D ;D I am planning on letting Esmeralda be a mouse for awhile. I hope that she will meet Basil of Baker Street while she is still in her mouse form. I wonder how he will react. ;D ;D ;D ))
Esmeralda the mouse was certain that this was the end of her. Then suddenly the princess ran over to her, scooping her up in her hands... and kicking her wand away from her at the same time. Esmeralda sighed when she noticed her wand rolling over to Merlins feet. It had shinked with her, and was tiny enough for a mouse to use. Would Merlin notice the wand laying before his feet, or would he step on it, and possibly break it? If that happened, would she ever get back to her human form?
She shook off her depressing thoughts and sat down in Eilonwy's palm, smiling up at her.
"Thanks for saving me from Archimedes. He is mad - he tried to eat me!!"
She gave Archimedes an angry scowl.
"Cannibal!" she yelled at him in her cute little mouse voice.
She listened to Eilonwy while she spoke of a cage.
"Well, I suppose it would keep me safe from that lunatic owl," she said. "But you won't lock the door will you? Am I free to come and go as I please?"
Her emerald eyes looked pleadingly up at the princess. Even in her mouseform, Esmeralda had kept her gypsy heart, and as all other gypsies, she couldn't stand the thought of being locked in. The loss of freedom would kill her.

“Why of course you would be,” replied Eilonwy with a giggle, “you’d be my guest until you change back. Though I wouldn’t mind if you stayed like that, you’re so cute now after all.” The bauble gave up, seemingly sullen as it stopped flashing and followed after Eilonwy.
“That wizard’s crazy though,” she stated, irritation clear on her voice, “transforming his students into this and that just because he thinks its right.” Eilonwy certainly didn’t want to be transformed into anything unnatural, so she supposed she would have to find a different magic instructor. “I must say though you don’t seemed as upset as one would expect,” she added as she looked down at the mouse sat on her hand, “you might be stuck like that for quite a while. It’d be like walking into a tiger cage with no tiger in it when you know there’ll be one coming along soon.”
She didn’t look back at the wizard as she walked away, still erroneously believing him to not be a nice person.

Esmeralda the mouse looked up at Eilonwy and smiled, grateful to have a friend that was fond of tiny animals - and kept her safe from Archimedes...
"Thank you. I am glad I have somewhere safe to stay until I return to my human form. I hope there's a way for me to return back, eventually."
A smile lit up her face. Suddenly she thought of her old friend Basil of Baker Street. She had broken his heart when she chose Kovu over him, and she felt bad about it. Maybe now, in her mouse form, she could visit him and try to sort things out? She wondered how he would react if he saw her in mouse form... Eilonwy had said she was a cute mouse. Would Basil think the same?
"I admit Merlin is a bit out of the ordinary, but he has always been kind to me. Kind of like a grandfather. I don't mind being in mouse form for a while though. I have a friend I need to sort things out with. A while back I accidentally hurt his feelings. I hope this transformation will give me an opportunity to meet him and clear up things. You see... he is a mouse. Perhaps I should bring some cheese and visit him. What do you think?"

Still rubbing his burned tail, Archimedes looked down to send the gypsy witch another one of his famous death glares. Instead of her, he instead spotted a delicious looking mouse. he smirked as a plan formed in his mind, this were the perfect opportunity to finally take revenge over that nuisance. with a hungry look on his face, he swept down. Just to give her a real fright, he thought wickedly. However, as he chased the little mouse girl, his owl instinct, and growling stomach took control of him. As eilonwy grabbed Esmeralda, almost right out of his claws, he shaked his head confused, as he came to his senses again.
Merlin stood befuddled, not believing his owl would go as far as to actually eat her. What "I" did..? now listen.. he began, before the princess ran to pick up Esmeralda. It dawned upon him as he listened to the conversation between the two of them. Did they actually believe he would hurt any of them? He harkled, Now Eilonwy, how do you believe she`s going to learn anything if i don`t give her tasks to figure out, i`d like to know. He calmly tried to explain the fact that her magic was powerful, yet still uncontrolled, and tended to go it`s own special ways. He didn`t have a clue weather she were listening or not. He threw a warning glance at Archimedes, to tell him how much trouble he was in as soon as they were alone..

Esmeralda scowled over at Archimedes, giving him a death glare. Now she was glad she had scorched his tail feather. She hoped it hurt! That... that..... cannibal!!!
She snorted and looked up at Merlin again, from her place in Eilonwy's palm.
"Merlin, I don't have my wand. It is laying in front of your right foot."
She pointed at the place where the wand was.
"Now that I know how to turn into a mouse, I can do it again if I need to be a mouse. But for now, I want to get into another shape until Archimedes has been fed. Do anyone have a cracker?" ;D ;D ;D

Eilonwy quickly hurried back over to Merlin for a moment to retrieve Esmeralda's wand, handing it back to the mouse sat on her palm.
"Oh well," she sighed in faux-sadness, "at least I'll have a pet mouse part of time time." She giggled, setting Esmeralda down on a tree stump so that she could change back, whilst making sure to keep her shielded from Archimedes. The bauble seemed more pleased that the wand had finally been noticed and was glowing with its usual bright light once again.
"One did have a pet once," stated Eilonwy as she watched Esmeralda intently, not wanting to miss the transformation, "only I wasn't really supposed to have one. Not that I'm bad with pets," she made sure this point was clear, "it's just that mother did dislike the rat I had so. Though he wasn't like you, you're a lot cleaner then Oscar was."

Esmeralda chuckled with laughter when Eilonwy set her down on the floor. She took the wand, happy to have it back. Now she memorized the words she had used to change herself into mouse form. She wanted to use it again in the future, so she could meet Basil and make things up to him.
"Thank you. I am glad I bathe more often than the rats," she replied, her voice filled with humor. "And I know you are not bad with pets."
She changed into her human form, throwing Archimedes a teasing look.
"Sorry to spoil your lunch, Archie," she said teasingly. "But I still have those crackers if you're hungry."

Merlin sighed impatiently. So you`re planning to keep her as a pet, he stated dryly. With your sense for right and wrong, do you think it`s right to treat her as a pet? he asked, eager to hear what answer she`d come up with. Don`t forget she`s not a mouse, even though she look like one at the moment.
Bravo, Esmeralda, he complimented as she succeeded in returning to her human form, with a tight grasp on a snorting Archimedes. He turned back to Eilonwy, a slight victorious smile on his lips. Do you now trust i don`t give my students tasks i don`t believe they can handle? he questioned.
And now, what to teach you. he began, pondering. I suppose you already know the simplest forms of magic? .. And you`re no animagician type of witch..?
Well, if you know that sort of thing, tr to make that bush over there come back to life. He pointed to a nearby bush. Because it were winter time, it were ribbed for leaves, and almost dead, like almost all other plants on this time of year.

Esmeralda beamed with joy when Merlin complimented her. She wasn't used to getting encouragement. She wrapped her arms around Merlin and hugged him as if he had been a kind old grandfather.
"Oh, thank you Merlin! You are the best teacher I ever had! I just hope I remember how to turn back into mouse again. I have some plans for a very dear friend of mine..."
She was thinking of Basil. She missed him, and hoped to see him again very soon. She saw a vicious smile on Merlin's lips and looked at him, slightly surprised that he could be wicked. She looked over at Eilonwy, watching the magic study she got. With glittering emerald eyes she started watching the almost dead bush, wondering how Eilonwy would master the task.

Merlin chuckled by the compliment, at least someone still have faith in me. He came to look up at his owl again, still rubbing it`s injured tail feathers. He got a mischievous glimpse in his eyes again. While we wait for Eilonwy, why not play a bit more with Archimedes? He`s really a nice owl, deep down. laying a humorous emphasize on the word "deep" And i can tell you, he haven`t seen one of his own for a long time. He blinked, hoping she would get the picture.

Esmeralda noticed the mischieveous glimpse of humor in the old wizards eyes. This was what she loved the most about him, his irrestistable sense of humor. She grinned broadly and winked at him.
"Ooooooh, I see what you're getting at...." She said, seemingly innocent. "Well, then he might want some company....."
She lifted her wand and it started glowing. This time two things happened.
1. Mrs. Sparrow returned... and
2. Was transformed into an owl by Esmeralda's wand.
Mrs. Sparrow immediately flew over to Archimedes and started flirting with him.
"HI CUTIE!! WHY DON'T WE FLY TOGETHER? I CAN SHOW YOU THE WO-O-O-ORLD...."
Esmeralda wasn't capable of hearing the rest of Mrs. Sparrow's words. She cramped with laughter and laughed so hard she had to lean against Merlin for support.
