Panchito had never tried Chinese food before. But the smell coming from the restaurant was too good to pass up.
He had no idea what any of the menu items were, so the rooster simply told the waiter to bring the spiciest dish they had. At least it would be better than eating rats in that Ratatouille place.
When the meal came, Panchito prepared to dig in, but found that, for some reason, his silverwear had been replaced with a pair of wooden sticks.
Now, vacqueros didn't care much about table manners and could make do with nothing but a knife. But they didn't give him a knife. Nothing but these two oversized toothpicks.
Panchito scratched his head in a puzzled way.

ooc: hope my post is okay... I'm not the best role player >.<
The aroma of delicious food was too good to pass up, as Mulan soon discovered when she was within 100 feet of the source. She was blasted with not only a grumbling stomach reminding her she hadn't eaten yet, but a wave of homesickness as well. The food smelled so familiar and so like her mother's cooking. She reminisced on the times when she was little and had come running inside after a long day to the smell of delicious food...
With a small smile Mulan entered the restaurant and was seated at a table. She browsed through the menu for a few brief moments, deciding what to order. Pursing her lips together, she ran her finger down the menu, realizing most of the words were in English and reading that was quite difficult. Translations were luckily provided.
After deciding what to order, her eyes landed on the chopsticks that were provided for the meal. A small laugh escaped her lips as she remembered the time her good buddy Ling had put them in his mouth and wiggled them around as if he was a walrus with big teeth. Mulan picked up the two sticks and rested them between her fingers. She was quite skilled with these utensils, since that was all she ever used for food. They were impractical in some situations, however very useful for dipping and other methods. Plus they were simple.
For a moment she pondered whether to follow her friend Ling's suit and stick them in her mouth, but she restrained herself from doing so. The last thing she needed was for people to stare at her oddly. Placing down the chopsticks, she glanced around the restaurant, trying to see if there was anyone familiar. So far no one. To one guest in particular she made eye contact with and waved a quick "hello".

<<That's great. Thanks for posting>>
At a loss, Panchito continued to stare at the sticks, wondering how funny they would look stuck up someone's nose. Suddenly, he noticed a pretty girl seated at a nearby table.
There was nothing unusual about this; he noticed a lot of pretty girls. But this one was waving to him.
Yes!!
Panchito wasted no time; he was at her table in a flash. "Hola, senorita, my name is Panchito. Cómo estás?"
He had seen her holding the sticks in a strange way, and that seemed like a good way to get a conversation going. "Can you tell me, por favor, what are these sticks?"

ooc: SO sorry I took so long to respond. I've lost all role playing ability for some reason >.> I am getting back into the swing though. My apologies and thank you for responding.
Before Mulan had a chance to turn back to her menu, the one she had waved at zipped over to her table and introduced himself as Panchito. Mulan bowed her head slightly, a tad confused as to what language he was tying in with his English. Nonetheless she responded:
"Good evening sir. My name is Mulan." She wasn't sure exactly how to introduce herself, whether her native, formal way, or any other conversational greetings she had seen previously. Not worrying too much about it, she stuck out her hand strongly, waiting for him to shake it. "Nice to meet you Panchito."
As she let her hand linger there she placed down her chopsticks. As she did so Panchito questioned about the sticks. Mulan turned to stare at the chopsticks, following the gaze of Panchito. Black bangs fell in front of her face slightly and she quickly brushed her hair behind her ear.
"These," started Mulan, "are chopsticks and are used for eating." She picked them up once more and held them between her fingers as she had done previously. "You hold them like so and you use them to pick up food. They are great for dipping and all in my homeland use them."

Panchito lost no time in grasping the hand offered to him, planting a kiss on the knuckle.
He watched her demonstrate the sticks in answer to his cuestión.
"Used for eating?" That would've been his third guess. "Ah, your pretty little hands make it look muy fácil...so easy!"
"Never have I seen such things before. Senorita Mulan," continued the rooster with his most charming smile, "would you teach me to do this?"

He took Mulan's hand into his and kissed it sweetly. A small blush formed across Mulan's face. She bowed her head slightly, a gentle smile playing across her lips.
"Yes they are for eating. I remember it took me a while when I was little to get used to them but I was determined and I finally figured out how to use them." At his next question Mulan glanced at his charming smile and nodded with agreement.
"You may take a seat Panchito, if you would like, and I can teach you how to use these." She picked up her chop sticks once more and displayed them between her fingers. "See," started she, "you rest the first one in between your thumb and pointer finger and rest the other part on your middle. Then you take the other one and do the same except rest in between your pointer finger and thumb. This allows room to "chop them together"." Mulan demonstrated by clicking the two sticks together.

He sat down happily at Mulan's table and took up a pair of the sticks.
Although the girl patiently explained the technique, Panchito paid more attention to her pretty pink cheeks than her instructions.
"Ah, senorita, I think it works only for those with cinco dedos...five fingers."
Taking the sticks in his hand once more, the rooster continued, "If you will place your hand on mine, perhaps I can do better, yes?"

Panchito sat down next to Mulan and picked up a pair of his own chopsticks. She tried to teach him how to hold the chopsticks however she felt that she was failing. That didn't make her try any less though. She was determined.
"Ah, senorita, I think it works only for those with cinco dedos...five fingers." said he and Mulan glanced down at his fingers, realizing he only had four fingers, not five. She sighed deeply and brushed some hair out of her face. A wide smile spread across Mulan's face. The amount of fingers shouldn't stop her from trying hard to help him.
"Do not worry Panchito. You can still hold them!" Mulan encouraged with a wide smile. He took the chopsticks once more and questioned something that caught Mulan a bit off guard. She blushed slightly and suppressed a tiny chuckle. "Oh of course," started Mulan as she gingerly placed her hand over his and tried to assist him.
"Okay, so, if you hold it between your fingers as so..." trailed off Mulan as she moved her fingers to try and help him hold the chopsticks correctly. She accidentally bumped into him and apologized quickly: "So very sorry sir."

Panchito was delighted to be able to sit so close to Mulan. Holding her hand was nice, too.
When she apologized for bumping him, the rooster replied, "Do not be sorry, querida. It is the nicest bump that ever I have felt."
"And the prettiest profesor...how you say...teacher."
Between you and me, Panchito hoped the lesson would go on a long time and wasn't really trying very hard to learn correct chopstick-handling.

"The nicest bump you say?" Questioned Mulan with a small chuckle. Panchito was certainly amusing. Mulan felt a sudden pain of sorrow at the thought of how much of a gentleman Panchito was, even if he was a rooster. A definitely handsome rooster, added Mulan to herself. She missed her friends greatly. She missed having fun and being around people who were nice to her. She was just glad that Panchito was being so kind to her.
"And the prettiest profesor...how you say...teacher." Panchito commented. Mulan was usually not so weak under such circumstances but she could not help but let her cheeks turn a slight tint of red. His comments were certainly getting to her.
"Why thank you Panchito. Yes, I believe I am your teacher if you would like me to be. As a teacher I have to say I will not stop until you learn how to hold these chopsticks." Eyeing the seat across from her she gestured to the chair and questioned: "Would you like to sit and eat with me?"

No way would he pass up an invitation like this! "Si, you are most kind."
Before settling himself in the indicated chair, Panchito moved it around the table until he was sitting as close to her as possible.
"And now, lovely Mulan, will you tell me todo...everything about yourself?" His meal nearly forgotten, the rooster gazed dreamily at the girl.
He'd met many pretty girls in the park, but not many would actually go out with him. Maybe Mulan would be different.

Panchito accepted Mulan's invitation to sit and eat quickly, taking the seat and scooting it closer to her. At first Mulan was surprised by the sudden close proximity that the rooster was in but as the rooster started to speak once more, Mulan completely forgot about her uncomfortableness. While Panchito was a complete stranger, Mulan felt a warm sense of friendship about them. She knew they had just met but she felt maybe they could get along well. He was certainly charming, despite being a tiny bit of a flirt.
"Everything about me?" Questioned Mulan with a small giggle. She paused and blinked a few times blankly, wondering why she had just... giggled... since when did she do that? taking in a deep breath, Mulan glanced into the eyes of the rooster. She forgot about ordering and about everything else. She just wanted to talk to Panchito. There was a certain aura around him that made her feel comfortable and free spirited.
"Well that might take a while. I could always introduce myself. My name is Fa Mulan, as you know, and I am new to the park. I don't know my way around here very well and haven't been to many places but the park is most certainly enjoyable from what I have seen. What brought you here?" Mulan questioned.

"Me? Oh, I love to see nuevos lugares...new places. And new people," he added with feeling.
"When an hombre is alone, there is not much to do but travel. He needs una razón to stay. Something...or some person...to make the house a home."
Panchito laid his hand on the table so that it was just barely brushing hers.

"When an hombre is alone, there is not much to do but travel. He needs una razón to stay. Something...or some person...to make the house a home." Panchito said. Mulan nodded with agreement. She understood completely. Being alone meant traveling alone too and until you found someone to be with, usually you would just travel in hopes of finding that someone. Mulan wouldn't call herself a nomad entirely, but she was certainly alone. There was barely anyone she knew where she was. In fact, there was probably no one she knew here or at least, no one she ran into yet. So far Panchito was the only one.
His hand rested on the table and barely brushed against Mulan's. Feeling the warmth of his hand, Mulan blushed slightly, a kind smile across her face. She brought hers closer and patted his for a moment, hoping he wouldn't mind, before pulling away. The food had arrived.
"Thank you," Mulan said to the waiter before picking up her chopsticks and starting to eat.
"Have you always been traveling alone Panchito? Have you ever had anyone to travel with you?" Mulan asked, striking conversation.

"Oh, I have dos amigos muy especiales...my very best friends, Jose and Donald."
"We have travel together sometimes and had the fantástico adventures." He began to laugh just thinking about them.
"I wish you could meet them, querida. Jose is so sofisticado. And Donald is muy loco."
Hmmm...the more he thought about it, the more he was glad Mulan could not meet Donald and Jose. Those two would definitely try to steal this girl away from him, and Panchito didn't want the competition.
