Panchito shook his head slowly. What was it with these hombres and peppers? It was only a little spicy.
Oh, well, that didn't matter. Nuestro héroe joined in the dance and was doing just fine.
"Muy bien! You are very good!"
Then turning to Chicken Little, Panchito called, "Come and dance with us, my friend."

"Thanks!" Our Hero said to Panchito.
(Just waiting for CL to continue his part now)

Chicken climbed out of the pool drying himself off as he heard Panchito mentioning dance as he was still a bit reeling from the hot pepper. "I'm coming, at least theres something that i won't have to end up falling to the pool." He said as he watched them do a dance that seemed new to him.

"If you wanted to go swimming," said Panchito, eyeing the dripping Chicken Little, "why do you no say so?"
They could always turn it into a pool party. Although it wasn't exactly traditional Cinco de Mayo.

"Swimming does sound like fun..." Our Hero said. "But then again, yo-yos sound way more fun!"
Our Hero absolutely loved his yo-yos. He really hoped that was a part of the fun of the Cindo de Mayo festival.

"If you really want to have fun, perhaps we should break the pinata now. That is the best part of Cinco de Mayo."
Panchito pointed to the brightly-colored object hanging from the tree branch overhead.
"Inside is filled with maravillosas sorpresas, like the candy and toys and...all kinds of things."
He held up a stout stick. "Now, who will be first to try to break the pinata?"

"I will!" Our Hero said, grabbing the stick from Panchito.
Our Hero had been waiting for this one. He really hoped he'd be the one to break open the pinata and collect all the prizes.
He held the stick back to take a good whack at it...

<<Hope you don't mind Panchito playing a joke on Our Hero. He really is incorrigible, but he means it all in fun. :) >>
Little did the flamingo know that Panchito had substituted a rubber stick for the real one. He couldn't resist a practical joke!
The rooster stood back grinning, preparing to watch the fun when Our Hero tried to break the pinata with that phony stick.

Our Hero smacked the pinata with the stick as hard as he could, only to find that nothing happened.
"Well, this certainly is a surprise!" Our Hero said, clearly annoyed. "I wanted candy and toys, not for nothing to happen!"
He threw the stick down on the ground, only to watch it bounce back up just a bit.
"Um, is it supposed to do that?" Our Hero asked, beginning to realize what was going on.

Chicken looked on as Our Hero was attempting to hit the pinata with the stick given to him but suddenly Chicken noticed something odd about the stick when Hero dropped it and it began to bounce a bit. "Hmmm something is strange about that stick indeed"

Panchito burst out laughing, holding his sides. "You should see your faces, mis amigos! It is too funny!"
After a brief but ecstatic laughing fit, he wiped his eyes, saying, "Hokay, here is the real stick. Will you try it again?"
Handing the stick to Our Hero, the rooster suddenly slapped himself on the forehead. "Ai, I almost forget. You must wear the...how you say..."
Here he produced a red bandana. "...the blindfold. Only then are you ready to break the pinata."

"Well, no wonder it didn't break!" Our Hero said. "I thought something was going on."
He then put on the red bandana and took a swing at the pinata...

As Our Hero prepared to swing, Panchito grasped the rope that held up the pinata. He alternately pulled and released, causing the colorful globe to move up and down.
This, for once, was not a practical joke. It was the traditional way to break the pinata, with friends doing their best to make it más estrictas for you.

Our Hero quickly became frusterated and took off the bandana.
"Why can't I hit it?" he complained. "I know I'm swinging it in the right direction! Panchito, is this another joke of yours or something?"

"No, my friend," he laughed, "it is the only way to break the pinata. You swing the stick and I pull the rope. Like this."
Panchito demonstrated, this time with Our Hero watching.
"You see, si? Would you like to try again?"
Now that the flamingo knew the trick, things might go a little differently.
