Prince Florimond had been called to duties in the Far East, as much as it pained him to leave his beloved kingdom, but most of all...his beloved Snow White. It seems Florimond's father, the King, had become ill, and, unable to go himself, sent his son of his behalf. Florimond was to go to the city of Agrabah to speak with the Sultan himself...or so the King had said.
As the prince came upon the city gates, the guards looked at him with cold stares. "Have I done something wrong?" Florimond thought, staring back at the two large men. "Do I have something on my face?" It took him a moment to figure out they must have been suprised by how odd he looked. With his pale skin and flamboyant European clothing, Florimond certainly stood out from the crowd. Clearing his throat, he spoke in a regal, loud voice, trying to seem intimidating to the guards. "I'm Prince Florimond, who has been sent on his father's behalf to speak of private matters with the Sultan himself." The guards looked at Florimond, then each other, and nodded. They opened the large wooden doors that led into the arid city. Florimond, somewhat frightened of the men (Who wouldn't be?), hurriedly walked past them, giving them a slight nod of thanks before finding himself on the main street of Agrabah.
A thought passed through the prince's head as he walked down the dirt road, townspeople staring at him, with some even stopping to do so. This made Florimond feel out of place as the thought completed in his head. Perhaps he should buy a gift for Snow White while he was here! And why not one for the Sultan as well! Florimond was unfamiliar with the way the city worked, and thought that presenting the Sultan with a gift would symbolize friendship between the two kingdoms. Stopping at a stall, Florimond selected a ruby necklace for Snow White, one that matched his beloved's blood-red lips. He also selected several rolls of fine silk as a gift for His Majesty.
After paying for the goods, Florimond placed the necklace in the rolls of silk and rolled the silk to a point where he could carry it easily. He felt quite sure he would make a good impression upon his arrival at the palace, but things didn't always turn out the way one planned...
