When vampires are created, they have a choice. They can be evil, like most vampires, or they can be good.
Most can't make the right choice on their own.
When you give an infant vampire the choice between a human and an animal, they don't have the self-control to pick the animal. They need training and coaching from an older and wiser vampire. That's why the The Hepler Facility for Infant Vampires was founded... to train vampires to feed on animal blood.
But there are opposing forces. The evil vampires, most commonly known as the Wickeds, are against everything that the facility stands for. They despise the teachings and want to overthrow it. There are also Weres, Wickeds, and other creatures roaming about. Some are good, but others side with the Wickeds.
