A City, rampant with citizens. With humans.
And with those who surpass the bonds of mortality.
And with those who surpass the bonds of mortality.
Vampires and Werewolves meant nothing more than a bad dream. Even now, these creatures that prowl through the nightmares of children are naught but a fairytale. A thing of movies and fictional novels.
They don't exist in the minds of humans.
Just in their World...
They don't exist in the minds of humans.
Just in their World...
The feud began long before a redheaded queen sat on England's throne. Before William Shakespeare had yet set foot upon a London stage. Before the Spaniards founded the first European settlement in North America at St. Augustine. Before a young man named Galileo Galilei was disappointing his father by studying pendulums and other nonsense instead of medicine. Before the Purge began.
It's such that few, if any, know the true story of how Lycans and Vampires came to despise one another. Rather, they merely understand that the general hatred has become instinctive. A bloodthirsty need to extinguish the enemy in some, and an unconscious urge to avoid them in others. The intensity varying from creature to creature, but almost always there on some level.
And The City is no different.
Evolving from nothing more than a nameless village of a century ago, The City has always been the host of creatures unbelieved in by man. Only then, boundaries weren't bothered with and territories weren't paid attention to. There was no need.
Only recently, within the last decade or so, has a distinct code risen up. Humans aren't as basic as they once were. Their government and policemen take more notice when one of their kind disappears. Human witnesses to the true nature of the creatures around them are becoming a greater risk, and threat.
And so the Territories were established. To lessen the chance of exposure, Vampires took claim to the North portion of The City; setting their own basic laws for survival as they saw fit. The Werewolf Pack asserted its domain over the Southern section of The City; keeping its brethren safe within its complex hierarchy. By keeping to themselves, they lessen the risk of being truly discovered.
And for the most part, it works.
But there's always a fight. A provoked attack. A murder. Something that could at any time draw unwanted attention of mortal eyes. And there always will be, despite the rules and laws set down by both Vampire and Lycan alike.
Why...?
Because the hatred is instinctive...
