Esmeralda smiled sadly and looked up at Elisa.
"You really look like an angel with those wings," she said quietly. "Thanks Elisa, I will call on you when I need you again."
She turned to Kovu with the sadness of the world in her emerald eyes, expecting him to tear the heart out of her chest and step on it. For some reason she wished he just would kill her and get done with it. It would be less painful than this torture; sitting here not knowing where she had him. The tears were still glittering in her long, dark eyelashes.
"You came to see me?" She said calmly, but with a hurt tone in her voice.

Kovu watched as the angel woman left before turning back to Esmerelda. To see such a vibrant, strong woman crumble was heart breaking. He could hear the tone of her voice and winced.
"I suppose your pretty upset with me, huh?" he said, sitting next to her. "Listen, I know this isn't easy. It's not for me either. I never though that I'd see Kiara again, let alone in such a frightening position. It was only natural for me to be concerned. Let's face it, Esme. If it wasn't for her, I would still be the killer my mother wanted me to be. Can you at least be greatful of that?"

Esmeralda looked over at Kovu. She had wounds too. Her skin was burned after she had ran over the parks, jumping over flames to find the source of the fire and put it out with her magic. She had cuts and bruises after swimming in the rapids to try to save Kiara's life. But none of these wounds hurt as much as the wounds in her soul when she had seen Kiara kiss him. Esmeralda loved Kovu more than life itself, and to see him with another woman was just more pain than she could bear.
Her emerald eyes looked into his, the hurt visible.
"Kovu, I wish you still were a killer, like your mother trained you to be. If you were, you would have the decency to end my life right away, instead of torturing me like you do. Every moment you are away from me is a living hell. And now that you got your woman back you will want to be with her, I suppose."
She turned her head away, tears glittering in her emerald eyes.
"Tomorrow there will be a ship going back to Europe. Djali and I will try to get on that ship, and return to France. It is less painful to be tormented by the witchhunters than to pinning away by a heartache that seems to take no end."

Kaira stirred awake and opened her eyes slowly, the first thing she noticed was that she was alone and the second thing was that the air was getting cooler and she was shivering. She could hear the rapids rushing beside the bank she was lying on and could hear the forest teaming with its nocturnal wildlife. “Kovu?” she called out softly, not sure what was going. Maybe she had dreamt him before, or maybe she had hit her head on one of the rocks too hard. But where was the other creature and her little friend, the ones who had saved her, surely she hadn’t dreamt them... Moving to get up she gasped, her leg burning in pain and she fell back down breathing heavily and looking back towards it. There was something wrapped on it, something the creature who had saved her had helped place on it, so surely she couldn’t have dreamt them! But why had they left? Had she done something wrong...? Determined and more than a little stubborn Kiara moved to her paws again, holding in a scream of pain as she dragged her back right leg behind her. She moved across the rocky terrain, searching for any signs of where the mysterious creature who’d saved her life was. She only stopped walking when she heard a familiar voice and one less familiar voice in the distance. Finding a pathway to the voices was hard, but she was glad when she did come across one. Moving closer to where Kovu and Esmeralda sat together, she stayed hiddened and listened... Can you at least be greatful of that?" “Kovu...” Kiara whispered sadly, hearing his words hurt her. He never thought he’d see her again? Did that mean he never wanted too? It had been a long time, a very long time. She closed her eyes and looked away, only looking up again when Esmeralda spoke to him finally. Her emerald eyes looked into his, the hurt visible. "Kovu, I wish you still were a killer, like your mother trained you to be. If you were, you would have the decency to end my life right away, instead of torturing me like you do. Every moment you are away from me is a living hell. And now that you got your woman back you will want to be with her, I suppose." She turned her head away, tears glittering in her emerald eyes. "Tomorrow there will be a ship going back to Europe. Djali and I will try to get on that ship, and return to France. It is less painful to be tormented by the witchhunters than to pinning away by a heartache that seems to take no end." Anger boiled inside Kiara when she heard Esmeralda wish he was still the killer he once was and she growled lowly, not liking the idea of that. She didn’t know who this creature thought she was but Kovu wasn’t a killer, not anymore! He had a kind heart, he’d always had a kind heart, it was just warped in Zira’s dark plans... Her growling came to a stop as she listened more to what Esmeralda said and suddenly realization hit her. This creature was in love... with Kovu. The creature who had saved her without even knowing who she was, the creature who had cared for her wounds and promised to look after her, the creature who was now upset upon her return... She could see why Kovu would fall for such a creature, but why would he push her away? Surely the relationship between herself and Kovu couldn’t be to blame? “Dont leave...” Kiara said softly, emerging from her hiding spot, her back leg dragging loosely behind her. “You cant go.” She looked at Esmeralda and then to Kovu, not even realizing the tears in her own eyes. “You’re right... me and Kovu were in love,” she told Esmeralda looking back at her. “But that... that was so long ago, things are... things are clearly different now. I can see how much you love him, you don’t even need to say it... and Kovu doesn’t need to say it either... I can see it in his eyes, whatever it is that is keeping you apart has hurt you both so much.” She paused and looked down towards the ground, a few tears falling past her furry cheeks. “I... I want you both to be happy... together,” she said, looking up at them with a small smile. “I really do.” Kiara’s face suddenly scrunched up in pain and she collapsed onto her side, her eyes closed tightly shut, her body shivering as a fever started to break out and she turned pale, losing consciousness... (OOC: Kovu & Esme, you two have been breaking my heart for far too long! Hopefully this post is a push in the right direction... and besides... you promised you'd take care of Kiara's wounds muahaha! you aren't going anywhere Esme! *Pooh runs up and snuggles you tight* *Kiara licks you*)

Elisa stood behind a large tree, wondering how Kovu and Esmeralda were coming along. She hated the fact that her friend was so hurt, and she hated not knowing why. She could tell that Kovu had something to do with it, but despite this, Elisa couldn't bring herself to be angry at the young lion. She could see in his eyes the pain he carried with him, and she could tell whatever it was that had happened, he felt terrible for it.
Elisa frowned as she heard a soft growling noise. Glancing behind the tree, she gasped as she saw a lioness appear. Horrified that she might attack her friends, Elisa was ready to tackle the big cat if necessary. However, that didn't seem to be the case as the features on her face softened, and she slowly walked up to Esmeralda and Kovu. Elisa was still too far away to hear what they were speaking of, but she could see the passion on the lioness's face.
She wished that she could come closer to hear what was being said, but she respected her friend's privacy. Besides, Esmeralda would surely tell her what happened if she wanted to.
Suddenly, the lioness collapsed to the ground. Privacy would have to wait. Elisa rushed forward, ready to help in anyway possible.
"What happened?" Elisa asked. "Who is this?"

((*Snugglehugs Elisa, Kovu, Kiara and Pooh, chuckling with laughter*: Hush you guys, you're giving away the plot! ;D Me leave? Not before you carry me away in a box! I love you all too much too leave. *clears throat*: Back to the plot))
Esmeralda suddenly heard a soft voice telling her not to leave, and she turned her head towards the sound. She was surprised to see the beautiful lioness had followed her up on the mountain. Esmeralda's eyes were filled with tears when she remembered the poor animal's broken leg, and she could only imagine how much pain it must have cost the lioness to come here. She rushed over to the lioness and wrapped her arms around her, holding her protectively, like a mother would protect a sick or injured child.
"Kiara, what are you doing here, sweetie? You shouldn't walk on that leg of yours! I do appreciate your offer - but I don't want YOU to suffer because I am an idiot who can't control my emotions. It wouldn't be right, sweetheart. Kovu was your boyfriend first. I do not deny that I love the boy, he is handsome, noble and charming."
She bursted out laughing and looked into Kiara's eyes.
"Well - you gotta admit that we both have great taste in men, huh? What about we share him? Then he can love both of us - we will both be happy and he doesn't have to choose?"
Esmeralda turned when Elisa returned to her, giving her a smile.
"Hello, Elisa. This is Kiara. She is one of Kovu's girlfriends, and I saved her from the rapids. I am glad I did, but I fear her leg is broken. I have bandaged her, and if she doesn't move more than necessary, I think her leg will heal perfectly."
At that moment Kiara cringed in pain and collapsed, and Esmeralda turned to the lioness again, starting to examining her, furrowing her eyebrows in deep concentration, like a doctor preparing for an operation.
"The climb up here has been too hard for her. I will need to get her back to the camp - now! I will prepare her something to drink to lower the fever."
She lifted up the unconscious lioness and carried her gently in her arms, making sure not to brush into the bandaged leg. Then she started the climb back to the camp.
"Kovu, make sure the path is clear before me, I can't risk tripping and falling while carrying Kiara. And Elisa, please look after Djali for me, he is so reckless when we are in the mountains."

Elisa nodded at Esmeralda's request. She gave Djali a friendly pat as he nuzzled against her.
"Come on, Djali." Elisa said. "How about we go for a flight? That way we can help Kovu."
Djali gave a nervous bleat, but jumped into Elisa's arms.
"I won't let go, I promise." Elisa said.
She turned to Esmeralda. "We'll see you in a bit."
Elisa spread her wings and took off once more.

Esmeralda nodded and gave Elisa a smile.
"Thank you, Elisa," she said and started making her way down the mountainside with the unconscious lioness in her arms. "You really are an angel."
She turned to Kovu and smiled.
"Don't worry Kovu. Kiara will be well again. As soon as I get back to the camp, I will make her a tea that can get her fever down. I will wake by her side tonight, and make her drink this tea every third hour, until the crisis is over."
There was no anger, hurt or frustration in her voice anymore. Now there was only the warmhearted concern a doctor feels for his patients. Esmeralda had promised to protect Kiara. And she never went back on her word.

Kovu turned away at Esmerelda's cold words. He hadn't expected her to recieve his explenation happily, but never so viciously. She was going to leave? Returning to Paris would mean certain death to her. He could never allow that.
"Esme, please try to understand . . .," he pleaded but broke off when Kiara arrived. He could see that she was in a great deal of pain, both from her leg and from the emotions she was feeling. He couldn't believe what she was saying. Kiara was giving up without a fight.
He leapt forward when Kiara passed out, helping her to the ground safely. He was glad to see that Esmerelda was still caring towards the lioness. He could never be able to express his greatfulness for that.
At this time the angel woman returned and offered to help lead the way back to camp. Kovu watched as Esmerelda hoisted Kiara in her arms, ready to help if he had to. Seeing that she was alright, he turned down the path and searched for a way back to the river.

Esmeralda looked at the hurt expression in Kovu's eyes, and immediately regretted her cold words. Knowing how much it had taken of him to be the wonderful person he was, she had never meant them. Holding Kiara with one arm, she nuzzled against him, caressing his mane with her free hand.
"Oh, Kovu, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you, honey. Can you forgive me? Those words were unnecessary hard, and unfair to you. I didn't mean them. I am proud of the wonderful person you have become in spite of your mother's upbringing. But can't you see how much I still love you in spite of all we have been through - and that it hurts to see you with another? You didn't even ask if I was okay when I pulled her out of the rapids. I felt left out and ignored - as if I didn't matter for you anymore. But that doesn't make it okay for me to say those words to you. I am sorry. I love you, Kovu. I always have."
She looked down at the lioness in her arms, and there was a warm and tender smile on her face.
"Looking at her, I understand why you love her, Kovu. She is beautiful. You have an excellent taste in women. I will do everything in my power to heal her back to life."
She followed Kovu along the path, hoping she could find a way to heal the scars she accidentally had added to his poor already broken heart.

Mufasa heard the cries of Kiara. At first he didn't know who it was but either way he thought that the person deserved help. He didn't know that Esmeralda was there until he could see from a distance that it was indeed Kiara, Kovu, Esmeralda, and even some others. Mufasa rushed over there as fast as he could.
And then with a deep voice each knew that it could be no other, he stood over Kiara and Esmeralda and spoke. "You are not alone!.......For I am here with you and for you now!"
He then took his look away from Kiara for a moment and hugged Esmeralda and then spoke. "I thank you for saving my Granddaughter! Esmeralda,...You are a hero! I still love you like a daughter..I always have and I always will...but again...Thank you!"
He then turned his look to Kiara and then tried to comfort her. "I missed you Kiara!....So much you have grown!...So much I've missed!....We'll no worries...for I am here now!"

Fire. It was everywhere. Burning the forest, trees falling over, animals running, but something he heard got his attention. It was a call for help, running as fast he could toward the sound but he was too far away to make it to the source in good time.
When he finally got close enough to see what had happened, he immediately hid to not be seen. He saw Esmeralda tending to a lioness. It wasn't as if he was avoiding Esmeralda, but his feeling for her were not going to go away very easily. In fact, giving up on their romance so she could be happy was the only thing he thought he could do.
That was until Kovu arrived on the scene. Gaston knew Esmeralda had a lot of troubles with her past and didn't mean the things she said but it hurt him to see her like that. As he watched them speak to one another he felt as if he where watching what he had just gone through. When the lioness, Kiara, give up her long lost love without a fight it hurt.
That was it, he headed toward the group. Esmeralda still holding the lioness in her arms, and although there where many things Gaston could say in this situation a serious fave and tone where the only things that could be seen.
"Give her to me. I can carry her faster than you can. There is somewhere nearby we can keep her warm. I have dealt with many injured, both men and animals during my hunts. I may not be a medic, but we should easily be able to help her."

Esmeralda smiled when Mufasa called her a heroine. She blushed and looked down at the lioness in her arms.
"Do not praise me yet, Mufasa. She is still in a critical condition. I will have to work hard to save her completely."
Then Gaston suddenly arrived on the stage, and she blushed by the sight of him. That was... until he asked for Kiara. She sighed deeply. She was injured too, after throwing herself into the rapids to save Kiara's life, and then running through the fire to put out the flames. Why didn't anyone notice her wounds? Why did they only notice Kiara?
She looked down at the wounded lioness in her arms, stroking her fur gently.
It is not your fault, Kiara. Men are jerks. Some days I just hate them all.
She looked up at Gaston again, and replied calmly.
"It is nice to see you again too, Gaston. Even though neither you or Kovu seems to care how I feel. But it's not your fault. You are just men. Both of you. If you'll excuse me, I have a patient to take care of, before I take care of my OWN wounds, which neither of you seems to care about."
She put her nose in the air and passed Kovu and Gaston, continuing down the path. If they were so short-sighted, she preferred to be on her own. Kiara was still in her arms, and she did not intend to leave her patient out of her care. Especially not to those two!
(( ;D OoC: Esmeralda seems to be insulted by the fact that none of the men have noticed her injuries. It will take some real sweet talking to make her forgive you guys. Maybe a bit care had been in order? Love you guys! XDD ))

"I am sorry my...." Gaston stopped himself mid speak realizing what he was about to say and started again.
"I only wanted to help take care of the lioness so you would be able to to take care of yourself. If I had it my way I'd be holding you in my arms right now...." Gaston stopped a second time, focusing himself to the task at hand. There where a lot of things he was holding on to and he was attempting to restrain himself.
"All I want to do is call a truce for right now. I'll help you in whatever way I can. Don't try and run away from me in your condition. I want to be strong for you this time, I could mend your physical wounds, but even I could never mend your heart. "
Gaston quickly caught up to Esmeralda and whispered in her ear something he thought he still needed to say.
"I still care for you my dear sweet gypsy."
He then moved so that he was standing in front of Esmeralda with a slight smile to comfort her.
"I'm afraid you don't have a choice about this one Esmeralda. I demand that if you won't let me help you, then let me help the lioness for you so ha you can help yourself."
