(Adult Kiara)
Kaira’s paws hit the ground at a fast paced run, her eyes were wide, fear moving her forward through the mountain side. Fire was burning everywhere, animals were scattering in every direction, the horrible sound of cackling trees burning and the smell of smoke burned through the once clear air. Slamming on her breaks she stopped just in time as a tree collapsed in front of her, halting her pathway for escape. Her eyes darted around quickly until she noticed a small opening between two trees that had yet to catch on fire. Running faster than ever before she bolted through the trees only to slam on the breaks once more, a few rocks slipping under her paws and tumbling down a cliff to rushing rapids below.
“Oh no... please no...” her eyes were filling with tears as she looked down towards the dangerous rushing water. But as she turned back another tree started falling towards her, the flames burning high on its branches. Screaming loudly a tree branch struck the side of her and sent her over the cliffs edge and into the water.
The water was like ice and the rapids bashed her around against rocks as she tried, and failed to swim against the current. Looking downstream she noticed the water was disappearing over the edge and that could only mean one thing...
“Help! Somebody, please, help!” she cried hoping someone, anyone would hear her. “Please!” Her legs kicked feverishly against the rapids, scraping her skin and one rock dinged her leg and she yelped in pain, her leg broken.
“Help!” she cried out one last time as the water sucked her under...

Esmeralda and Djali were wandering through Frontierland, looking for a place to settle down for a while. Esmeralda loved to live outdoors and travel around. Like the rest of the gypsies she loved her freedom, and the opportunity to roam around as she pleased. Djali loved his mistress and followed her where ever she went. The two friends were playing and having fun, when Esmeralda suddenly smelled smoke. Her emerald eyes widened and she looked over at Djali.
"Fire? Here?"
She looked around, and she noticed the air was a bit darker than it used to. She moaned and facepalmed.
"Please don't tell me those darn tourists forgot to put out their fireplace again!"
She wanted to rush to the place where the fire was, but then she heard someone cry out for help. Esmeralda looked around. The cries seemed to come from the river. Looking closer, she noticed a beautiful lioness in the rapids, and the water was sucking her under. Esmeralda quickly grabbed a rope from her belongings and tied one end around Djali's waist, knowing how strong he was.
"We have to help her before she drowns! Come on!"
The two friends rushed to the riverside. Esmeralda grabbed the end of the rope that wasn't tied to Djali, and threw herself into the river. She dived under the water. At first she couldn't see anything, but then she caught sight of a lioness laying completely still in the water. Esmeralda swam over to the lioness, wrapped her arms around her, and pulled her up to the surface. She turned to Djali and shouted.
"Okay Djali, I got her. Pull! Pull!"
Djali started backing, giving the rope around him extra support by clamping it into his mouth as if it had been a purple dress. Esmeralda swam towards the shore, holding one arm around the lioness, and the other hand on the rope. As soon as she could reach the bottom of the river, she waded to the shore, placing the lioness gently on the ground.

Kiara coughed, spitting out water, her eyes closed and she moaned a little in pain, her body immediately beginning to shiver. Slowly she opened her eyes and coughed again, trying to get all the water out of her lungs. Looking up through blurred eyes she noticed a creature standing over her and another creature off to the side. She lifted her head a bit and could barely see the big black smoke off in the distance.
“Please...” she whispered, knowing her life was in these creatures hands. “I...” Her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she flopped back down a bit, passing out into exhaustion and from the pain...

The Great Prince was on his daily roaming through the back areas of the park (containing forestry) unaccessible to the public until he noticed smoke rising steadily into the air and could sniff out the acrid smell of the smoke through his nostrils. Wondering if it could be people forming a campfire, he decided to check and make sure by quickly making his way toward the source of the smoke. Little did he know that he was in for a big surprise upon arrival.
Soon after he reached the source of the smoke from a safe distance, it appeared to him that this was the kind of fire that would engulf anything in its path if it had the chance. Echoes of cry for help went past his ears, and, reacting quickly and boldly, dashed off toward the voice until he came upon a gypsy rescuing an adult lioness from the water. Observing how Kiara was beginning to lose her strength due to exhaustion, he looked at Esmeralda and said, "If I can be of any help, I'll be glad to do it. Someone has to stop that fire before it's too late."

Esmeralda was kneeling by Kiara's side. She had wrapped her arms around the torso of the lioness, gently squeezing out so much water from her lungs as she could manage. She also did everything she could to clear the airways of the lioness. She spoke calmly and encouraging to the lioness.
"Come on, sweetie. Breathe. You can do it."
She started examining the lioness to see if she could see any wounds. Then she heard a voice behind her.
If I can be of any help, I'll be glad to do it. Someone has to stop that fire before it's too late.
Esmeralda looked up, noticing a fully grown deer. He looked magnificent, and Esmeralda would guess he was a high-ranking member of his flock. She looked up and offered him a smile.
"Great. Could you keep an eye on the lioness? I think I have something among my belongings that might stop the fire. But it will also cause some rain."
Esmeralda stood up and rifled through her pockets, and picked out a lilac pouch in a glittering material.
"This is powder from the heliotrop flower. When I toss this dust on the fire, it will cause rain to fall. I hope it will fall so much rain that the fire will be put out. Please stay here and keep an eye on the lioness and on my goat while I'm gone."
Esmeralda ran as fast as the wind through the forest, jumping over flames, until she found the source of the fire. Here she opened up her pouch and threw the Heliotrop powder on the flames. The sky above her became dark. She heard the sound of thunder, and soon the rain was pouring down, soaking the earth and putting out the flames. Esmeralda ran back to the deer and the lioness, leaning against a tree to catch her breath.

Kiara coughed out more water when Esmeralda worked on clearing her airways and she groaned, opening her eyes slowly. There was a new blurry shaped creature, this one stood taller than the other two and she wondered what was going on as Esmeralda spoke and then left. Her eyes rolled once again into the back of her head and she flopped down, breathing heavily.
At the sudden sound of thunder, the memory of the fire that had been raging, and the water that had sent her tumbling came back to her and she opened her eyes, fear gripping her. What was happening? Was the fire getting closer? How come no one was running away from it?
Just as Esmeralda returned Kiara tried to stand up but her back leg failed her and she cringed in pain, collapsing back to the ground. Her vision cleared up a bit and she looked at Esmeralda, the creature who had saved her and then looked down at her leg, bruising already starting to spread from the break.
“My... my leg,” she whispered, lying on her side. “The fire... what’s happening?”

Esmeralda finally caught her breath. A new thundering noise was rumbling across the sky, and she heard the lioness woke up, sounding afraid when she asked her questions. Esmeralda knelt down by her side, taking her in her arms, comforting.
"Do not be afraid, little one. The fire has been put out. It can't hurt you anymore. You are safe now."
The lioness tried to stand on her leg, but her back leg failed her, and she cringed in pain, collapsing back to the ground. Esmeralda examined the leg.
"Don't move, dear," she said softly. "You have broken a leg. I will have to bandage it. You can't hunt for a while, so I will take care of you until you can walk again."
Esmeralda found two twigs and cut them to the right size for Kiara's leg with her cutlass. Then she placed one twig on each side of Kiara's broken leg for support, before she started bandaging the leg, as tight as she possibly could. Hopefully, the broken bones would heal right, as long as Kiara could get enough rest. Esmeralda was determined to take care of the lioness to make sure she got that rest. With a gentle smile she finished her work.
"There, I hope this feels better. I know it can be a bit uncomfortable for you at the start, but it is necessary for the broken bones to grow together the right way. So please don't try to chew off the bandage. I will make sure you'll get all the food drink and rest you need untill you are better and we can remove the bandage."

[[ *is in awe of Kiara's posts*]] Kovu was resting peacefully when he heard shouting around him. Waking up with a start, he gradually pieced together from the scattered talk that there was a fire in the park. Frontierland to be exact. The lion faintly remembered the fires that his family had set to capture Kiara, how dangerous they had been and destructive. He had tried to block out all thoughts of that time, of his old ways as a killer. Getting to his feet, he used his nose to lead him to the fire. Soon he could follow the smoke trails in the sky. He roared for people to get out of his way, soon arriving at the enterance to Frontierland. Looking around, he heard a voice calling out for help near the water. His eyes widened. Kiara!Moving at full speed, he soon felt rain drops on his fur. Shaking them from his eyes, he finally arrived at the place where Kiara's shouts had come from. Esmerelda and Djali were there, as was a large deer. [[Have we rped together yet, Great Prince?]] Esmerelda was soaken wet and Kovu knew that she had been the one to save Kiara. "Kiara!" cried Kovu in a panic, seeing her broken leg. "Are you alright? What happened?" He laid down beside her and nuzzled her gently, the tears in his eyes mixing with the still falling rain.

Kiara looked at Esmeralda as she brought her into a comforting hug and told her not be afraid, that the fire had been put out. She relaxed, her fear dwindling inside her and she nuzzled a bit against Esmeralda’s hug.
Kiara watched as Esmeralda examined her leg and said it was broken, the fear returning to her as she realized she didn’t know how to fix it. She looked up in awe when the creature who had saved her agreed to take her in and help her get better and she blushed slightly watching as she worked on her leg.
“Thank you,” Kiara said softly looking at Esmeralda with a great appreciation. “Thank you for saving me, thank you for taking care of me.” She closed her eyes for only a second, and then she heard him, the voice she hadn’t heard in so long, calling out her name. Was she dreaming? Could it be...
“Kovu?” she whispered eyes opening and looking up as she noticed him standing there. Had she hit her head on the rock too hard? Was he really here?!
“I... I don’t believe it!” she gasped, more in shock over seeing him there then her own injuries. “I... I never thought I’d see you again.” When he asked what had happened she glanced back to the rapids and then looked up at him sadly.
“I was exploring and then there was fire, and I couldn’t escape,” she explained, her eyes filling with tears. “I tried to run away but I got stuck on a cliff... I had no choice but to go into the rapids, the fire would have killed me. She... she saved me.” Kiara looked towards Esmeralda and then back at Kovu.
“Kovu...” she whispered when he came over and laid beside her, nuzzling her. She nuzzled back, purring softly. “I’ve missed you... so much.” She saw his tears and felt her heart break at the sight of them, and she gently licked his cheek.

Esmeralda turned her head when noticing Kovu arriving the camp, and she watched how he rushed over to Kiara and laid down beside her, nuzzling against her. She also recognized the name Kovu had called out. It was the lioness he had told her so much about, the one from his childhood. Esmeralda had always known that this was the love of Kovu's life. It made her sad, but looking at the beauty of the lioness she could understand. She seemed to have a kind and caring nature as well. No wonder Kovu loved her so much.
Esmeralda smiled warmly and looked back at Kiara when she nuzzled against her. In spite of the pain in her heart, she couldn't help liking the beautiful lioness with the noble heart. And she couldn't feel jealous. Jealousy was not in Esmeralda's nature. She had always been warm and caring, like the gypsies who raised her as one of their own.
"So you are Kiara? Kovu has told me all about you. I can see why he loves you so much. You are beautiful, and I am not only talking about your looks. You have a noble soul as well."
She smiled and looked over at Kovu and Kiara.
"I am certain you two have lots to talk about," she said softly. "You should get some rest, Kiara. I will go away for a while so you can speak in private, but I will be back later to take care of you and see that you have everything you need."
She knew she had no right to keep these two away from each others, and she also knew that she could not keep her love for Kovu hidden for long. She could feel her heart breaking, looking at the two lions together, and with tears in her eyes, she quietly left the place. She kept walking until she found herself on the top of the Canyon.
Still soaking wet from the cold waters in the rivers, and with several wounds from when she was trying to put out the fire in the park, she sat down on a rock. From where she sat she could see Kovu and Kiara together. Kiara was licking Kovu's face lovingly, and he seemed to like it.
Esmeralda felt her heart break with every lick. She was thinking about the days she had been his wife, and all the love they used to share. She wondered if Kovu still remembered. A lonely teardrop trickled down her cheek, and she started singing quietly to cheer herself up.
It will be fine, nothing to fear. He'll be as happy as he was here. Things have worked out much better than planned. It makes you smile when fate gives a hand.
And maybe I'll forget how much he meant to me, and how I was almost his baby.... Maybe.......

(No, we haven't RPed together yet, Kovu The Great Prince listened to what Esmeralda had instructed him to do and nodded, acknowledging her and accepting that responsibility. While she was gone, the magnificent stag kept a careful watch over Kiara, hoping to himself that she would make it through. Before long, the rain came pouring down, and he chose to protect the injured lionness by standing over her and keeping her dry. What a noble deed he did, giving himself up to care for a life. Then he stood back to let the gypsy do her work in providing first aid to Kiara. Soon after, another lion came upon the scene and recognized Kiara as if they had known each other for a long time, and they both embraced one another through nuzzling. After Esmeralda used her kind words to comfort Kiara before departing, the Great Prince grinned in agreement, knowing fully well that Kiara would recover sometime soon as long as she was careful with herself. "I shall take my leave as well," he said in his gentle voice. "Take good care of yourself now." Then he slowly turned and made his way back into the forestry sections of the park alone.

Elisa was hiking through the mountain when the scent of smoke hit her senses. She hurried to higher ground, gasping as she took in the horrible scene. The other side of the mountain was completely ablaze. So many animals were in danger of losing their homes. How had this happened?
Just as Elisa pulled out her phone to call in the fire, the sky darkened. Lightning lit up the dark clouds before a clap of thunder shook the earth. Seconds later, the rain began to pour. She watched in amazement as the rain did it's work, smoldering the fire in a matter of minutes.
"A few minutes ago, there wasn't a cloud in the sky." Elisa said to herself, flipping the collar of her jacket up to add extra protection from the rain. She frowned as she felt the faint presence of magic in the air.
"Esmeralda?" Elisa wondered if her friend had stopped the fire. Elisa decided to have a look around. Spreading her wings and taking off for a glide, she scanned the grounds below her. If Esmeralda was here, she might need help.

Esmeralda was still sitting on the top of the rocks, but now with her back turned away from the depressing sight of Kovu and Kiara down on the ground. She was sitting with her arms around her knees, and her forehead resting against her arms.
Suddenly she heard a familiar voice behind her. She looked up - and noticed Elisa. She smiled, but there was a world of sadness in her eyes.
"Hello, Elisa," she said quietly, without her usual enthusiasm in her voice. "I hope your day is better than mine."

[[Awww, Annie! I love that show. Good choice, Esme.]]
Kovu looked over at Esmerelda, realizing what he had done. He had rushed over to Kiara out of instinct, his concern for her welfare overwhelming all other things. His long friendship with the lioness had taken over and now he saw that it had been taken the wrong way.
"Thank you for helping her," he said sincerely. "I am in your debt."
He became concerned when Esmerelda moved away. He had never seen the gypsy so broken spirited. He put on a brave front for Kiara, lying with her, but his mind was always on Esmerelda.
Time passed and he fell asleep. Opening his eyes, he raised his head from the ground and looked at Kiara. He slowly got to his feet and moved away into the darkness. He spotted a faint dot on the canyon ledge and knew it was Esmerelda. It took some time to figure out a way to get to her, but Kovu finally found a path. As he approached the girl, he saw that she was huddled on the ground. Oh, this wasn't going to be easy.
Then he noticed another person was with her, the strange angel woman he had met at Echo Lake. "Hello there," he said, announcing himself so that he wouldn't be attacked. "Uh, could I talk to Esme for a moment?"

Elisa saw Esmeralda sitting alone on a pile of rocks. She smiled as she soared down to her friend, not knowing the heartache she was suffering.
"Hey, Esmeralda." Elisa said.
Her eyes widened as Esmeralda lifted her gaze. The gypsy's emerald eyes sparkled with tears, and her voice held none of the enthusiasm Elisa was accustomed to hearing.
"Esmeralda." Elisa dropped to her knees in front of her friend. "What's happened?"
Before Esmeralda could say anything, Kovu appeared. He seemed... Elisa had trouble putting her finger on it. Nervous, maybe even a little guilty?
Elisa didn't like not having the answers she wanted, especially when it involved her best friend looking as if her heart might split in two, but if Kovu had done something, and was here to explain himself, she would give him that chance. Besides, she was the one trying so hard to get the two back together.
Elisa stood. "Of course. I'll give you both a few minutes."
She turned to Esmeralda. "I won't be far. Call me when you're ready."
