Simba, believing that he could manage himself anywhere left the supervision of his parents and snuck into the outlands. He kept to the trees in case of any unwanted pursuers. He started at a run, but soon realised that no one was following him so he slowed to a walk. He never noticed how beautiful the outlands are. Sure it doesn't have green trees and grass, or magnificent waterfalls but it was peaceful. Simba continued walking taking in the scenery, until he didn't know where he was. He looked backwards, the pridelands no where in sight. "How far did I go?" Simba mumbled to himself. "Oh no, im lost" he cried.

Pumbaa was lazing on his back under the shade of a tall, green tree. Timon was resting on the warthog's stomach with his hands behind his head. He smiled to the sky. "Can life get any better, Pumbaa?"
Pumbaa sighed which sounded more like a huff. "Nope." Timon rolled his eyes at his friend's lack of conversation. It was nice to relax all the time in this jungle-type place, but Timon was becoming a little restless however. Suddenly he frowned. "Pumbaa, do you ever think about our old life? With Simba and all? I miss that lil guy."
Pumbaa lifted his head to look at his small buddy. "Of course, Timon. I do too." His tone now matched Timon's.
Timon was about to reply when he heard footsteps. He sat up, alert. After a moment he heard someone cry out about being lost. Pumbaa heard it too and he rolled over to get up, almost squashing Timon in the process. Timon emerged from one of Pumbaa's hooves and glared at the warthog, who turned a shade of red in embarrassment. They peeked out from behind the tree to see a lion cub. Timon's face lit up. "Could it be?"
Pumbaa took a bit longer to recognize the face. "Simba?" Pumbaa called out excited, hardly believing his eyes.

Simba jumped at the sound of a familiar voice. "Who's there?!" Simba yelped. He turned around and had to look twice finally realising who it was. "Timon, Pumbaa?" He stutted, "Is it really you?" He didn't really have to ask, any one could spot a snot dripping worthog and a meerkat together from a mile away and still know who it is. "What are you doing here?" He asked relieved.

They both emerged from behind the tree and out into the open once Simba responded. Timon and Pumbaa both wore matching beaming smiles at the sight of their good friend. Timon opened his arms in greeting as he approached Simba.
"Simba! Long time, no see, eh?" Timon looked at Simba with surprise. "What are we doing here? Why, we live here now, of course!"
Pumbaa nodded in agreement then asked, "What are you[/] doing here?" He turned his head to the side in wonder. Yes, he was glad to see Simba, but he was also concerned at seeing Simba so far away from the Pridelands.

"I came out for a walk.... Im heading back in a minute" Simba said covering up the fact that he's lost. "You guys are living here?!" he bellowed, finally clicking to what they said "In the outlands?" he continued, "You'll get yourselves killed." Simba's heart began racing, he was worried about the saftey of his friends.

Timon raised an eyebrow. "You came this far just for a walk?" It was showing on Timon's face that he didn't believe Simba. "Hmm, then who yelled out they were lost?" He pretended to think about it, placing a hand to his chin in thought.
Pumbaa chucked at Timon's act. He then heard what Simba had said and he stopped suddenly. He threw a nervous glance to his little friend, it hadn't crossed the warthog's mind. Timon waved a hand at Simba in dismissal. "Pfft, there's no danger here! This is paradise." He smiled smugly, still proud to call this place home.

"Yeah, I come this far for a walk all the time" Simba waved his paw at him in a reassurence gesture. I am going to be king one day, and kings don't get lost, Simba thought. "And now that you mention it, I did here someone cry out and say that there lost" He said. "Maybe we should go look for whoever it was"
(Taking a different direction, therefore a better window for an introduction of different characters.)

Timon still looked at Simba suspiciously, still not believing that he'd come here on purpose. Pumbaa however, swallowed the lion's story hook, line and sinker. Pumbaa nodded again, this time at Simba.
"We'll help you look, we can't have a lost creature here, can we Timon?" He looked over to Timon, not noticing the look the meerkat was giving him.
"Oh, suuure! We'll be happy to help look for someone who isn't there." He rolled his eyes dramatically, but yet again Pumbaa missed the sarcasm in Timon's tone. "We're with you, Simba." Pumbaa added after hearing Timon's approval.
Timon brought a hand to his forehead and sighed. Why did he even bother?

"Thanks guys, well we better get going. It's going to get dark soon." Simba knew that Timon didn't believe him, but Pumbaa seemed consistent on his every word. "Oh please let someone be lost out there" Simba preyed. He was about to start off when a sudden rumble erupted from his stomach. "Im hungry" He whined to Timon and Pumbaa. (He he he. Bug eating time lol)

"Yeah, now what way did the voice come from?" Pumbaa looked around, trying to see anything out of the ordinary. Timon couldn't believe that Pumbaa had fallen for Simba's lie but he decided he might as well go along with it.
"Simba, where did it come from?" Timon smirked slightly, challenging him. But then when he heard a rumble, he jumped. He was just getting into panic mode when he realised it had come from Simba. Timon placed a hand to his chest and sighed in relief.
"Geez, kid, don't do that." He perked up though at the thought of food. "Well, seeing as you're hungry we should eat before we set out for this search." He waved a hand in a gesture for Simba to follow. Pumbaa knew where they were heading, so he trotted over to a log and lifted it.
Timon bent down and picked up a bug, then slipped it in his mouth. "Ooh, my favourite. Crunchy!" He announced with his mouth still full. Pumbaa pulled a face at this.

Simba followed Timon and Pumbaa to the log. He gagged watching Timon eat the bug, he heard every crunch, it made him gag some more. He was never comfortable with the concept of surviving of bugs alone, but to stall time he grabbed one in his paw, he lifted it above his head. He closed his eyes and held his nose with his over paw, hoping it would reduce the taste. He let go of it and it fell into his open mouth. Holding his nose didn't help, he could still taste it. Unfortunately for him he chose a slimy one, all he could think of was snot. The bug wriggled, tickeling his throat. He swallowed some spit to wash it down. "Yum" he lied. "Slimey" he said to please Pumbaa.

Timon and Pumbaa both failed to see Simba's reaction when Timon continued to munch on the bugs. They could never believe that no-one wouldn't like them. Pumbaa spied a long, slimey worm, so he bent down and slurped it up, finishing off with a loud burp.
"Mmm, the slimey ones make the meal, right Simba?" He looked at the lion with satisfaction, glad that Simba preferred the slimey ones. Timon was bringing another bug to his mouth, but he stopped, holding the bug mid-way from his mouth.
"Slimey? Pfft. Simba, Simba, Simba. You know it's the crunchy ones that are best." He glared at Simba, daring him to go against him, then threw the bug in his mouth and make a show of licking his fingers afterwards like it was the tastiest thing on earth.

"I reckon both are nice." He lied. He'd only tasted the slimey one, he was dreading tasting the crunchy one, the slimey one was bad enough. He looked at Timon, and saw his face. Well I better make Timon happy too. He grabbed a crunch bug and doing the exactly the same thing before, he dropped it. Crunch, Crunch. The crunching sound made him shiver in disgust. He swallowed. Oh here it comes he thought. Simba started gagging. This time it wasn't a false alarm. And then it came. All over Timon and Pumbaa's feet.

Timon smiled in satisfaction as Simba ate a crunchy one. "See, kid? It's better than the sli..." He stopped mid-sentence when Simba began to gag, then next moment he brought it up, all over them. Timon shook his foot in disgust. "Geez, did you have to share it?"
Pumbaa was looking smug. "See, Timon? The slimey ones must be better... Simba liked it that much he didn't chuck it back up." Timon glared at Pumbaa's gloating, then retorted, "The slimey one probably made Simba queasy, then when he ate the good one, it was too much for his stomach, right Simba?"
The two both looked at Simba, waiting for his decision.

Simba brought his head up to meet eyes with Timon and Pumbaa, he still tasted the unwelcoming taste of vomit in his mouth.
When Timon asked which one made him vomit he considered not answering to spare their feelings, but he must tell them the truth in case they make him eat it again.
"Your both nuts" Simba said, "they were both disgusting, I rather die then eat that again". His eyes darted between Timon and Pumbaa, "I don't have to eat that again do I?" He didn't wait for an answer, "now can we get some real food?" He asked pleadingly.
