Movie(s) your character is in:
The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
Character's Personality:
Eric isn’t the typical fairy-tale prince. He dislikes his royal duties and would choose sailing over performing them any day. He has a strong sense of justice and would rather solve confrontations peacefully, but he will defend those he cares about if the situation becomes violent.
Character's History:
Eric was born a prince in a kingdom by the sea. His mother died when he was very young and his father died soon after. He was an only child, so the task of ruling the kingdom fell upon his shoulders alone. The caretaker who his father had christened, Sir Grimsby, looked after him and tried his best to prepare him for the difficult job of being the king. He encouraged him to marry a princess and take the throne, but Eric refused.
Eric was very awkward and shy during his childhood, and had trouble making friends. He only came in contact with nobles and royalty, and they didn’t seem to share his love of the sea. Eric wasn’t very self-confident, and doubted that he would ever be the great king that his father was. Because of this he was very apprehensive about taking up the throne. He instead spent his time sailing out on the deep blue sea. It was his sanctuary and only sense of comfort. He was joined by his trusty and loyal sheepdog, Max. His other interest was music. He would play his fife to keep up his spirits. Since he traveled so much, he was able to play many different tunes from around the world.
On Eric’s eighteenth birthday, the Royal Galleon sailed off from the dock near his palace. The prince and the sailors were going to celebrate his birthday on the vessel that night. However, a hurricane blew in and destroyed the ship. Eric fell into the sea, unconscious from the explosion caused by the fire engulfing his galleon. Luckily, a certain mermaid by the name of Ariel rescued him from a watery grave. She sang to him, and Eric was smitten. Her voice haunted him, and he was intent on finding the girl who rescued him. A few weeks later, a girl who looked like the one who saved his life showed up on the beach. Eric at first thought she was in fact his savior, but when he learned she couldn’t speak, he dismissed the thought. Nevertheless, he offered her shelter at his castle. Soon, Eric found himself falling for her. Grimsby advised him to forget about the dream girl and confess his love to this one. But just as he was about to, he heard the mysterious voice again. He was hypnotized and was going to marry the supposed owner of the voice, when a battle ensued at their wedding. During the struggle, Eric learned that the mute girl was really Ariel and the brunette he was going to marry was the Sea Witch she had sold her voice to for legs. Eric defeated Ursula, the Sea Witch, and married Ariel after her father transformed her into a human for good. A few years later, the couple had a daughter they named Melody.

Eric walked into the Magic Kingdom, his blue eyes wide. It was beautiful. The scent of sweets drifted through the summer air. He could hear the laughter of children as they too explored the kingdom. In all his travels, Eric had never been anywhere like this.
At the end of Main Street, USA, the dark-haired young man could see a huge and beautiful castle. It was built rather differently than the one back home, but it fit the setting well. Suddenly, he heard singing. He turned around to see a group of four men dressed in colorful vests, bow ties, and hats. They seemed to be some sort of quartet. Eric smiled as he listened to their song and after a while decided to move on.
The prince strolled into Frontierland, whistling the tune that the Dapper Dans had just sung to him. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this before.” He said with a grin as he looked about the area. He could see a steamboat traveling across the river. A couple of kids on the boat waved to him and the teenage prince waved back. He looked across the river to see a small island. It looked like a raft was getting ready to leave for the patch of land at that very moment. Eric boarded the raft quickly, as he was curious to see what exactly was on the island. As the raft docked, he looked at a nearby map. “Tom Sawyer Island..wonder who he is.” Eric mumbled as he examined the map. He turned and saw a barrel bridge nearby. He walked out on the bridge cautiously. Little did he know, someone was right behind him. The child jumped and Eric almost lost his footing. “Whoa!” He exclaimed. The child laughed hysterically and Eric couldn’t help but chuckle.
Eric left the barrel bridge and crossed the suspension bridge nearby. He decided to explore the area to see what he could find. He came by a dark tunnel and chose to take a look. If Ariel were here she’d have a field day. The tunnel was almost pitch black and twisted and winded in on itself. As he walked through it, Eric couldn’t help but shiver. He exited the tunnel and found his way back to the bridges.
Eric sat down at a table next to the river. This place was rather relaxing than the hustle and bustle of palace life. He wondered where Ariel was. After a few minutes of relaxation, he stood up and went off in search of her.
