"I do have a good memory of some sorts, but not that good," Reepicheep admitted to Gadget. "It's a good thing it's winter now, because we can follow Bambi's tracks back the way we came." He showed the others what he meant by going out to the mouth of the cave and pointing out where Bambi left his hoofprints in the snow. "Though then again, they may be covered up by now from the wind."
"You mean we may never get out of here?" Bambi asked, feeling a bit pessimistic.
"Ah, don't you fret, dear Bambi. We'll do our best to get you two back home. You have my word."
Bambi thought of the warrior mouse's promise, brightened up a little and grinned lightly. "OK, let's do it."
"That's the spirit!" Reepicheep exclaimed, though in a quiet tone so as not to attract the wolf army's attention. He then went over to Bambi, had Bambi lay down, got on his back and said, "Let's move. Though we may have our scents covered, we still ought to keep out of sight. Can you do that, Bambi?"
"You can count on me!" Bambi grinned.
Meanwhile, out in the forest, the wolf army had split up and went sniffing around for any signs of life that would be an easy catch for an easy meal. Maugrim was not in the best mood to go hungry this winter.

Gadget wasn't really sorry to be leaving Narnia. I mean, it was interesting to see a new place, but the snowy wasteland had a certain sameness after a while. Though she wasn't sorry to have met Reepicheep.
"It shouldn't be too much longer," she predicted. "We haven't really come all that far since leaving the wardrobe."

Reepicheep helped Gadget into place on Bambi's back before Bambi himself would proceed to leaving the cave and out into the forest again, following his own hoofprints in the snow as best he could.
One of the wolves from Maugrim's army seemed to have picked up Bambi's scent from the hoofprints, and before long, he was on Bambi's trail and made a long howl to inform the army that he spotted a fresh meal.
Bambi gasped at hearing the howl and made an immediate dash for it through the woods, ignoring his tracks and heading to nowhere in particular.
"Hang on tight!" Reepicheep informed Gadget while holding onto Bambi's fur. "We're in for a wild ride!"

Oh, man, despite her pine sap idea, the wolves were on their trail. If the pack caught up, would even Reepicheep's sword be able to save them?
Gadget wrapped the fingers of one hand in Bambi's fur and held onto the mouse warrior with the other.
The fawn ran so fast that Gadget felt her feet fly backward; she could barely keep from falling off into the snow. If that happened, she knew she'd be a goner.

Bambi dodged this way and that among the bushes and free-standing trees in the forest while he desperately thought of searching for the wardrobe. He knew he had to get rid of the wolves somehow, but all hope seemed initially lost. Then, he unexpectedly ended up at a snowy ledge not that high up from the Great River, and there was another ledge right across the river, which gave him an idea of jumping across it to lose the wolves, so he quickly got a good running start from a long distance, gained the momentum that he needed and leaped, hoping that he would land on the other side safely.
Reepicheep had his eyes shut the whole time Bambi had been running, yet when he opened his eyes once during the giant leap across the river, he could feel a brief moment as if he were floating in space; somehow, that felt incredible to him. Before he knew it, he felt the force of gravity pull down on him as Bambi had made it to the other ledge by landing on his stomach. Looking up to see what had happened, he raised his head and looked back to see that the wolf pack was too late to try and follow the trio and walked away in a huff. "Ha! We made it! We're alive!" he cried joyously, laughing and hugging Gadget tight.
Bambi's heart felt a great relief in knowing he could do a huge leap like that again. "Whew! Boy, if my dad were here, he would have been so proud of me again," he said as he stood up on his four feet, grinning proudly.
"He certainly would, Bambi," Reepicheep replied with a satisfied smile. "He certainly would. Well done."

Bambi ran like the wind, making Gadget glad she'd met up with a fawn and not a turtle or something.
When the little group neared a cliff, Gadget yelled, "Look out!" but added, "Oh, never mind," when they landed safely on the other side.
"Wow, that was some jump!" she said, returning Reepicheep's friendly hug. "We should be able to find the wardrobe easy, now that there are no wolves to worry about."

"You're quite right on that, Gadget," Reepicheep replied. "Lead the way, Bambi!" he exclaimed with triumph, pointing a claw straight ahead in a dramatic fashion.
Bambi nodded and presumed to lightly trot to where the entrance through the wardrobe stood. Along the way, Reepicheep grew curious about what lay through the wardrobe beyond the lands of Narnia that he had known so much about. "Now, tell me, what lays ahead through this 'wardrobe' you two have talked about?" he asked. "Are there more dangers and adventures than I've ever known before?"
"Oh, yeah," Bambi explained. "You have no idea what our world is like, but I'm sure you'll like it just as much as being here in Narnia, right, Gadget?" Before long, he could spot the lamppost that served as a sign that he had made it back to the wardrobe.

Gadget thought about the villains and menaces she'd faced with the Rescue Rangers.
"Well...there are dangers. And plenty of adventures. But maybe not the kind you're used to."
"Like, for instance, instead of a White Witch, you might have to dodge a white Volkswagon or something."
She found herself wondering how Reepicheep would like the modern world she came from.

"Like, for instance, instead of a White Witch, you might have to dodge a white Volkswagon or something" "Ohh, a white Volkswagon, eh?" Reepicheep asked, picturing the Volkswagon as a large monster with similar traits to a dragon. Then he said with determination, "Well, if Aslan could fend off creatures like that with his mighty strength, so could I!" Bambi proceeded to walk through the opening and past the fur coats that hung on the sides. "Hmmm, this is a strange-looking cave here," Reepicheep noted as he was brushed against the hanging fur coats. "Not exactly like stalactites, but these hang like them, sort of." Before long, Bambi had reached the other side and swung the wardrobe doors open with a knock of one of his front hooves before hopping down onto the hard floor and bask happily at the atmosphere of the park he had known and visited for a long time. "Hmmm. Well, this is it," he said to Reepicheep. "Welcome to our world." Then he started lightly trotting out of the Journey to Narnia attraction and out into the Mickey Avenue Area to show Reepicheep around. Reepicheep stared in awe at the crowds of people walking around and the modern wonders the park had to offer. "Woow. So this is what your world is like?"
