(I have permission to godmod Esme ) " Are you sure you want to go through with this...sire?" The snake asked Prince John as they approached the Marketplace in their carriage. "Why, but of course, Hiss! Now do not ask me that... silly question again, yes?" The Prince exited the carriage and saw Esmeralda dancing for the crowd, everyone enjoying her performance immensely. His eyes grew wide with delight as he watched from a distance, clasping his hands together. " I'm sorry sire." Hiss was tempted to drop the issue and watched the beautiful woman dance as well. After a while, he knew he couldn't let it go. " I'm just afraid that it won't work!" The Prince turned his head and glared at Hiss, his crown falling on his brow. He pushed it up. "OF COURSE, it will WORK, you cowardly cobra! My guards have surrounded the perimeter of this place, hahahhaa...haha yes, everything will go according to plan." He rubbed his hands together, chuckling devilishly. " Alright, sire. I know what Lady Tremaine told you was enticing--" Hiss started. Prince John snickered. "Yes, enticing, yes--" " But maybe this isn't the best of ideas, sire!" He sighed, looking up at him, seeing he was a bit entranced by the woman's dancing, not even listening. He shook his head. " If this plan goes bust I will be of no part of it!" The song was over and the crowd commended the woman. "Let the show, mwahahhaha haha...begin!" The Prince approached the gypsy dancer clapping enthusiastically and Hiss reluctantly followed behind. "Bravo! Bravo, hahha! BRAVO!" He cut his eyes at the people around him. "Out of the way--do not touch the royal robe! What are you thinking?" To this, the crowd mumbled grudgingly and dispersed. He cleared his throat and smiled at the woman. "May I say, you are such an elegant, talented, and.... entertaaaining dancer. You may have the privilege of kissing the royal hands." He held his hands out in front of her, his rings shimmering. " Charming," Hiss mumbled low under his breath.

Esmeralda had just finished her dance. When she heard the crowd cheer and applaud she smiled to Djali, who was waiting for her backstage. Once again they had succeeded in pleasing their audience. Esmeralda turned to her audience and bowed gently, this causing even more applause and demands for just one more dance. Esmeralda smiled. They always wanted more.
She had been so focused on her work, that she didn't notice the wagon that was hidden a bit away, or the two who were in it. And the music was so loud that even if she had seen it, she wouldn't have heard the conversation. La Esmeralda was famous for giving her soul to the art. That was what made her the best performer ever. She adored her audience, and they loved her.
There was some commotion in the crowd, and a lion with an oversized crown elbowed his way to the stage, followed by a snake. Esmeralda shuddered when she saw who it was. It was that sleazy lion who had looked at her at the Pet Show. She sighed. She had hoped she would not run into him again. But he was royal, and she had to be polite. She didn't have to suck up to him, right?
"Eh... Thank you, Sire," she said, a bit taken aback by his lack of manners, or respect for the persons about them.
When he offered her to kiss his rings, she grimaced and took a step back, shuddering in disgust.
"No thank you sir, I am married...."
Even if Kovu had left her to return to Kiara, she was still carrying his ring. And in her heart, she still loved the lion which once had been her husband. No man could ever replace him, or take his place in her heart.

"My word!" The lion said in offense by her refusal. But a smile crept upon his face when he thought of what he had in store for the oblivious gypsy. Little did Esmeralda know, Lady Tremaine wanted revenge on the dancing gypsy and gave Prince John the idea of capturing her, to keep for his own. Now that he was king (since his rotten brother was otherwise too...occupied to carry the crown at the moment), he would naturally need a queen! Esmeralda was perfect since Prince John always had a fascination with fortune tellers, and, not to mention, she was just beautiful!
He snickered a bit but stopped himself, trying hard to be serious. "Well, it is apparent that you don't know what an honorable opportunity is when it is handed to you, yes? No matter, maybe you'll accept this one. Hiss?"
Hiss sighed and said in as reluctant and unenthused of a voice as possible, "Prince John would like to invite you to dinner in his royal quarters as an honor and reward you with several jewels, gold, and....trinkets of the like."
Prince John glanced at Hiss displeased but turned back to Esmeralda. "Hahaha...yes! And seeing as the guards and workers at my castle..." He snickered. "Yes, I said my castle," He continued. "...are getting a bit tired of our routine jester, I could reimburse you to dance for them. Hahaha, doesn't that just sound...haha...splendid, mmmmmm?"

Esmeralda noticed the smile that crept over the lion's face and was on guard instantly. He was not acting like her fans usually did. She doubted he would be satisfied with her autograph. She looked around trying to find something to defend herself with, or some way to escape.
Djali had noticed too, and lowered his tiny horns, ready to defend his mistress. But Esmeralda looked around, noticing the armed soldiers that suddenly were everywhere. She looked over at Djali again, her eyes cautioning him against attacking a royal person. She would hate to see her best friend ending up at some royal dinner table.
When the royal person spoke to her, she gritted her teeth and looked suspiciously at him, her emerald eyes narrowing. She stood proudly with her head lifted, and replied, without any trace of fear.
"I know indeed what an honourable opportunity is. Which is why I am declining your offer, Sire. I seriously doubt a man with a crown too big for his head knows what honor means."
She listened to the snake while he started reading up the invitation. It didn't even sound heartfelt, and Esmeralda rolled her eyes.
"Jewels, gold, trinkets? Mon Dieu, how stupid do you think I am? People like you never pay so well to be entertained by people like me. So, no matter how good the payment, or the enchantment by entertaining a bunch of beerstomached bullies, I think I'll pass on this one. So for now.... goodbye!"
She gave a signal to Djali, and he followed his mistress to the edge of the stage, and they both threw themselves from the stage and landed on top of her audience. A hundred eager hands lifted gypsy and goat above the crowd, in an attempt to bring them to safety.

Prince John narrowed his eyes at the woman when she started hurling insults at him. "How DARE you speak to r-r-royalty in that manner?" But she continued and by the time she was finished talking, Prince John was fuming, his hands curled into fists at his sides. "Look here! My crown looks just FINE!" Suddenly Esmeralda and her goat escaped over the crowd. "OOOOOO!" He jumped up in down in frustration, childishly. "She will pay dearly for that mouth of hers! DEARLY, I say!"
After his brief fit, The Prince followed them, knowing that they wouldn't get too far. When they landed on the ground, Prince John's large rhinoceros guards surrounded them, pointing spears and arrows at her and the goat. John laughed loudly.
"Ah HA! Ah HA! The gypsy girl has been...hehe...naughty hasn't she, yes?" Prince John said appearing in between two of his guards. "Well, hopefully she has learn her lesson as Prince John will not tolerate such blatant mockery, disrespect....heh, foolishness." He waved his hand. "Seize her at once!" He chuckled as he started to see his plan unfold in front of his eyes. The gaurds grabbed her and put her in chains. "Hahaha yes and....take the goat too! Hiss needs the company as well, haha!"
Hiss glared. "I do NOT!"

Esmeralda landed on the ground, and suddenly found herself surrounded by a gang of rhinoceros guards.
Merde!!! And I thought Frollos soldiers were ugly!!!
She noticed the Prince fuming in the back ground, but she had no time for him now. She looked around, trying to find something to protect herself. She had to get Djali out of here, before he ended up as stew. She didn't want HIM to get in trouble. She snatched a sword from the nearest soldier before he had time to react, and she fought bravely before the soldiers managed to overpower her and put her in chains. Even in chains she continued struggling.
"Let me go, you idiots! How dare you!!!"
She kicked the soldier that tried to lift up Djali, and sent him head first into a bush with sharp thorns.
"Leave him alone. DJALI!! RUN!!!!"
The goat started running away, as fast as his four little legs could carry him. The last he saw of his beloved mistress was that she was chained in iron chains, and dragged away by the guards.

Prince John flinched as the woman put up a good fight with the guards. He was quite impressed. But of course, she was no match for such force. In the midst of the struggle, he saw the goat running away. "NO! You incompetent fools! You let the goat get AWAY! Are you guards good for anything?!" The Prince shouted. He huffed, defeated. "I wanted the goat!" He whimpered. Composing himself, he ran to catch up to the guards to the carriage. They struggled with the feisty Esmeralda until they were able to put her in the carriage. Two guards sat on both sides of her, their bows aimed at her. Prince John and Hiss followed them inside.
Prince John laughed. "I don't think we've been properly introduced, " John started as the carriage started off. He put a hand to his chest. "I am the one and only Prince John of England and I love money, gold, and treasures. I also love long walks on the beach, hahaha! Yes." He laughed heartedly. "We must get to know each other, my dear gypsy, in light of you becoming my wife in the very near future. The wedding will be just lovely! Lovely, I say! Lovely, yes!"

Esmeralda was dragged after her chains untill she was standing in front of the Prince and the string of rope that called himself Sir Hiss. She was now pretty angry, and did not care to be polite anymore. Still, she kept her cool and her words were filled with the sarcasm La Esmeralda at her worst was so famous for. She was secretly relieved that Djali had gotten away, but of course she wouldn't show her worries to her enemies. So she put on her cool face, and remained calm, but sarcastic.
"So, when you can choose between a beautiful woman and a goat, you prefer the goat? Your taste is quite... unusual, Sire. But I guess that is what I can expect for a man who prefers the crown to be too big for him...."
She was shoved into the carriage and cursed silently under her breath, fuming with rage. Someone were going to pay for this... she wished that Kovu was here. He would not have liked this.
The idiot Prince and his string of rope shared the wagon with her. Her eyes narrowed and she watched them fiercely, ready to bite if they tried anything. She heard the sleazy lion trying to introduce himself, but she was not interested.
"I am glad there is not more than one of you... for the sake of your poor people. They must suffer tremendously under your reign."
She looked over at him, wondering slightly if there were any possibilities to exchange the sand on his favorite beach with quicksand, preferably while he was walking there....
"I have never agreed to becoming your wife, Sire. In fact, I would rather kill myself!"

The great lion could tell something had happened long before he had arrived. The market was in distress, most of the crowd whispering what had happened. They thought it was a stage show, but so real! When she was captured by the evil prince! Perhaps if they returned, they would learn what had become of the beautiful girl gypsy? Aslan frowned at the thought that had verified when a terrified Djali ran up to him. "Where is your mistress, little one?" He asked, his voice ringing with worry and sadness for what had probably happened. He had not felt this since the White Witch had taken Edmund. "Where is Esmeralda?"

Djali looked up at the giant lion that had stopped him, but the tiny goat was not afraid. He had seen the gentle nature of the large animal, and knew that his mistress trusted him. He bowed to Aslan before starting to talk to him in animal language, the only language he knew.
"My mistress was dancing on the stage, and we were getting a lot of applause from the crowd. But then suddenly a lion and a snake appeared and started talking to my mistress. My mistress became suspicious, because they didn't behave like our fans normally do. The lion had a crown too big for his head. He called himself Prince John, and the snake was named Hiss.
They invited her to come to their castle and perform for the soldiers, and promised her gold and jewels, but she didn't believe in them, and told them so.
The lion was furious by my mistress' rejection and my mistress called on me. We tried to escape by throwing ourselves from the stage... but the rhinoceros guards caught my mistress and stopped us. They would have caught me too, but my mistress grabbed a sword and fought bravely, and I managed to escape."
A tear fell from his big round goat's eyes.
"I failed to protect my mistress! And the last thing I saw, was that the soldiers put my mistress in chains and dragged her away. They shoved her into a wagon, and I heard the lion speaking to the snake about a marriage.... whatever that is...."

The great king listened to the goat's tale, sadly. He himself could speak the language of the beast, having to do so before the creation of Narnia. He bowed his great head, his eyes reflecting his agony. However, he decided the little goat needed an answer, "Do not be ashamed, young one." He replied, "For even if you were human yourself, with a sword at your side, you still would be unable to stop such a vast amount. However, do not be in tears!" He said, his noble head nodding to the smaller animal, "Your mistress shall be saved! A marriage is a ritual some use to take a mate, but it shall not be completed."
Looking over to some trees that lined the park, he smiled slightly. "Come with me, small one." And walked over to the trees. They had some sort of red flower on them, perhaps native only to this land. Shaking his mane slightly, Aslan lifted his head and blew upon the flowers. One of the flowers snapped itself off the tree and turned into the form of a bird made of petals. It flew up to the sky and disappeared.
It reappeared, where the carriage was already moving swiftly. It flew softly down into the open window and touched Esmeralda's cheek. Suddenly, it glowed, twisting around Esmeralda's throat. When the glowing stopped, it revealed a neckalace. The peice was the red lion, the symbol of Narnia. It had a green eye that matched Aslans, gleaming out at the passangers.
The chain was unbreakable, and would remain such until Esmeralda gave up hope.
And if Prince John touched it, he would get a nasty warning.

((Awwww, Aslan, what a beautiful post! *snugglehugs lion* ))
Djali looked up at Aslan, and now a glimpse of humor appeared in his eyes. He had known his mistress all his life, and was glad when he could give Aslan some information that might soothe him a bit.
"I thank you for protecting my mistress, My King. In return I will tell you everything you want to know about my mistress. I have lived with her all my life, so I know her better than anyone else."
He snickered when he was told what a marriage was.
"Hah - I would see the person that can make my mistress to ANYTHING against her will. She is stubborn as a mule. When she sets her mind to something, it will happen, no matter how impossible it seems to be. She is also an optimist by heart, and thinks that nothing is impossible.
She is brave and loyal and daring, and loves her friends and family passionately. She would gladly die to save the rest of us. She is a strong fighter, and I have to admit that she has made progress with her magic. She has a very hot temper when someone enfuriates her - so if this John will force her to mate him - he will have big trouble. She will probably use every trick in the book to keep him away, and she is bright enought to think out some nasty insults. Is there anything else you want to know about her?"
He followed Aslan to the trees with hope in his eyes, knowing that the lion would find a way to save his mistress. With big eyes he watched how the lion shook his mane, and how the flower changed into a bird and took off. He looked up at Aslan again, his eyes grew even bigger.
"Wow - I've never seen anyone do THAT before. You really ARE the greatest!"
Esmeralda was sitting in the wagon, worried sick about Djali, but didn't dare to show it in front of her enemies. She worried about her people, and everyone that depended on her. How would they live if she was not there to protect them and take care of them.
Something that she first mistook for being a bird flew softly through the open window, touching her cheek. She smiled, trying to caress the bird, but it suddenly started glowing, twisting around her throat. When it stopped glowing she noticed a necklace.
Esmeralda lifted her chained hands and touched the piece carefully. She saw a red lion, with green eyes, and she thought it looked like Aslan. A deep blushing colored her cheekbones, and her heart skipped a beat. Her own emerald eyes glittered, and she smiled secretly. She felt calm and safe, knowing that Aslan was thinking of her. And she promised herself silently that she would never give up hope.
Aslan... my king.... Thank you so much for your gift. I promise you, now that I know you will save me.... I will never give up hope.... Take care of Djali for me... he is so tiny and helpless.

Prince John laughed at Esmeralda's comment about the goat. "Well, hahaha, it was quite...apparent that I've already captured you, my dear. I simply wanted the goat as extra!" He snickered a bit but then glared at the guards next to her. "I would've gotten him too if it weren't for these useless overgrown...mmmammals!"
His attention was drawn back to Esmeralda again, and he grinned while twirling his whiskers around his finger. "Ah-ha! Tremendously, yes yes, well everyone must sacrifice for the sake of the greater good, hehehehe, am I right?" He nudged Hiss and snickered. "And again I say my crown is just...!" The carriage hit a bump and his crown fell over his eyes. "...heh, fine." He pushed it back up and turned to Hiss.
"Now we must plan plan PLAN, sir Hiss!" He waved his hand at Hiss to move him along.
"Yes, sire!" He said and grabbed a pen and ink with his tail, ready to write.
"We must plan this wedding. Now I want a extravagant parade!"
"Extravagent, yes..." Hiss said, writing.
"I want to be carried by my servants on a float made of GOLD, with my new bride..."
"Made of gold, yes!"
"Oh how grand! How memorable!" He clasped his hands in delight. "Ah-HA HA! Ah-Ha ha ha! All of England will remember this day!" Suddenly he felt a breeze and turned his head. By then the bird that flew in the carriage had already transformed into the necklace. He looked at Esmeralda suspiciously, his eyes narrowing. But then he spotted the necklace and his eyes lit up.
"My! Where did you ever get that, my beautiful little emerald, mmm?" He gazed at it admirably. "Well!" He snickered. "Well I think we all must know the meaning of sacrificial giving, and no time like the present to start my little Emerald! Ah-ha ha!" He reached out his hand and grabbed the necklace, aiming to yank it from her neck.

(oh snap! Your gonna get it!)
Immediatly, the neckalace started to glow. The whole carriage was filled with a presence of something both beautiful, yet terrible. A lion's face would have appeared in Prince John's mind, face twisted with a vicious beauty. Suddenly, a deafening roar filled the cabin, echoing outside it. The horses panicked, they knew what that roar was. The roar of an angered King. They started to bolt, wanting to get away from the angered roar as fast as possible. The driver tried to control them, but they seemed to scared to care.
Aslan's face disappeared from Prince John's mind, the furious roar disappeared with the glow. Yet the atomosphere still felt pressed, as if someone was watching them.

John's eyes grew wide as the necklace started to glow. "What is this foolery?!" The lion said quizzically. Suddenly a lion's face appeared in his mind and a piercing roar went through his ears. Immediately, the frightened Prince leaped back with a yelp.
"Sire! What in heaven's name is happening?" Hiss exclaimed. "What did you see?"
"BWAA!" The Prince covered his ears and shut his eyes, cowering in a fetal position in his seat. Suddenly the carriage began to pick up speed for the horses began to get excitable.
"Sire!" Hiss exclaimed again, fear in his voice.
"DON'T 'SIRE' ME! DO SOMETHING YOU SLACKING SNAKE! " He screamed, opening his eyes only to glare at Hiss.
"What am I to do? I can't control the horses from here!" Hiss shouted back.
"Bwwaaa!" He whimpered. Soon the carriage slowed down, the glow was gone, and the image in his head ceased. The Prince grabbed the snake stretched him full length.
"--gah!" The snake choked.
"You WORM in SNAKE'S CLOTHING! USELESS! INCOMPETENT! WASTE OF SPACE!" He yanked him after each insult he shouted. He then let Hiss go.
"S-s-sire!" He gasped. "I'm sorry!"
"Tell me what that thing is!" The Prince demanded, pointing at the necklace.
"I-I-I don't know sire! Maybe it would help if you told me what you saw...? You must have seen something, you looked so frightened, like a child looking for it's mother, I say...out of no disrespect of course." He asked timidly.
The Prince's eyes softened and his expression buckled. "MOMMY!!!!" He proceeded to suck his thumb and grab his ear in whimpers.
"Stop that at once sire! Is that how you want to be seen in front of the lady???" Hiss demanded.
