(( Man, I'm crying over Teague too! Beautifully written Esme, that just broke my heart. ))
Elisa didn't want to take the money, and was about to insist to Captain Sparrow that him taking her aboard his ship was more than enough, however she decided against refusing him. She had only known the Pirate for a mere half hour or so, but could immediately see a father figure in him. She would be forever grateful for his kindness, and resolved to be the best pirate she could be for him.
Elisa smiled at Pocahontas' invitation. "Sure, I'd love to."
The two women walked through the early morning fog, stopping in various stores before Pocahontas suddenly spotted a dear friend of theirs.
Elisa raced along side Pocahontas, giving Esmeralda an enthusiastic hug once the Indian princess released her. She beamed as Pocahontas told Esmeralda about their upcoming adventure.
"Captain Sparrow has invited me along as well. Can you imagine? A cop turned into a pirate. Of course, with the captain being the Keeper of the Code, I doubt I'll have moral issues."
Elisa was about to suggest that Esmeralda meet with Teague to see if he would need an extra hand, when the detective suddenly noticed that the gypsy hadn't yet said a word, and that the smile on her face upon seeing her friend didn't quite reach her eyes. Elisa was even more startled when she realized that Esmeralda's eyes were bright with unshed tears.
"Esme?" Elisa asked, concerned. "What's wrong?"

((Awwww! You two make me cry as well! Your posts are wonderful. Love you guys! *hugs* ))
Esmeralda smiled and hugged her two friends, trying to hide the tears in her eyes. She didn't want to let them see her like this, and yet she couldn't hide the truth for them very much longer. They would have to discover it sooner or later.
"I know, my friends. I hope you will have a great journey. I have come here to sail with you in Captain Sparrow's place."
She looked over at them, knowing they soon would start asking the questions she had hoped she could spare them.
"I think it's best you come with me to The Misty Lady. I have a lot of explaining to do, and it is not good news I bring. I have to inform his crew of the situation. But there will indeed be a journey. Teague wanted this."

Elisa sighed as she absentmindedly tightened the sails on the Misty Lady. She, Esmeralda, and Pocahontas boarded the ship after saying farewell to it's captain, Teague Sparrow. She was still dealing with the shock of his sudden departure. She wondered why she didn't notice before how tired the pirate looked when he introduced himself.
Elisa looked to the harbor. A number of people who had also been in Teague's life were supposed to be joining them on this voyage. She wondered when they would arrive.
Teague's crew were honorable men. They too, grieved for the loss of their captain. When Esmeralda broke the news to them that he was gone, they removed their hats, placing them over their hearts as they looked out to the horizon. One pirate shouted out "Keep to the Code!", a phrase that was met with cheers, and more honorable shouts gracing Teague's memory.
Unable to maintain her composure, Elisa leaned against the ship's mast before sliding down, burying her face in her arms as she started to cry.

Pocahontas sat in the corner of the ship, watching the water roll against the sky beyond. She hadn't spoken to anyone since Esmerelda had told them about the late captain. The gentle wind blew her long hair, as if in an attempt to cheer her up, but to no avail. Not only had she lost her own mother, father and her people, she had lost the man closest to her, second only to Kenai.
A burrly pirate came up to her, spitting uncoothly on the deck of the ship. "Hey, indian girl," he called to her. "Ya ain't being ferried back to what ever place you came from for nothin'. Ya need to be pullin' ya own weight around here."
Pocahontas tensed at the man's words and slowly turned to him, face stern as tears rolled from her cheeks. The man had clearly not expected this strong response and faultered, wagging his jaw in awkwardness, before hurrying off to his duties.
The indian watched him go and saw little Djali galloping towards her, his tiny hoofs unmistakable on the wooden planks of the ship. "Oh, little one," she sobbed, scooping the goat into her arms and burrying her face in his fur.

Esmeralda noticed the sadness among the crew members, and it broke her heart to see her two best friends crying. She went over to them and embraced them, trying to comfort them as best she could.
"This is not the way Captain Teague Sparrow would have wanted us to remember him," she said. "He would have wanted us to make an adventurous journey to his honor. He loved you both as his own daughters - you too Elisa, or he wouldn't have helped you."
She pulled out two boxes from her belongings, and placed one box in Poca's hand and the other in Elisa's hand.
"Captain Sparrow wanted to give you something to remember him by. He was prepared for this journey, and has left gifts for all his friends and loved ones."
On Pocahontas' box there was a letter attached which read: "My dearest daughter, Yes, I think of you as my daughter. I was the one who had the honor of giving you away on your wedding day. That was one of the happiest day of my life. You were so beautiful in your wedding dress, and I was just as proud of you as if you had been my daugher for real.
When you are reading this, I am no longer among you. But I hope you still will accept my offer to travel with "The Misty Lady." I will always remember you with love in my heart.
Your loving "Father", Captain Teague Sparrow."
Inside Pocahontas' box, there was a ruby necklace, and the main piece was shaped as a heart, with diamonds around it.
On Elisa's box there was a letter attached which read: "Dear Elisa, Though I haven't known you for a very long time, I know you would have been like a daughter for me, if I hadn't been forced to leave. Do not mourn my loss, dear child, I am not dead.
Urgent business is taking me far away. When I write this, I don't know yet the outcome of my business. I know there will be dangers lurking in every corner, and I have to fight these dangers on my own. Even if I am no longer here when you read this, I hope you will accept my invitation to travel with "The Misty Lady." I will always remember you with love in my heart.
Your dear friend, Captain Teague Sparrow."
Inside Elisa's box there was a sapphire necklace, and the main piece was shaped as a heart, with diamonds around it.

When Elisa finished reading the letter, she wasn't sure if she should laugh or cry. When the realization finally set in that Teague was still alive out there, the two emotions clashed, and Elisa began to laugh through her tears.
"He's alive..." Elisa said, her voice shaking. "He's alive."
Unsure of what to do at this point, she pulled Esmeralda and Pocahontas into a tight embrace, still laughing as the tears fell from her eyes.
Pulling away, she smiled at her friends.
"Come on." She said, clasping the necklace around her neck. "We have a ship to get ready!"

Esmeralda smiled and looked over at Poca and Elisa, hugging them tightly. She too knew that Teague was alive. It was no ghost that had disappeared in the tiny boat that night. Esmeralda had seen enough of ghosts to know the difference between ghosts and humans.
"Of course he's alive, what had you expected? At least so far. I feel that there is a reason why he chose to face his dangers alone. I tried to tell him that we could come with him and help, but he wouldn't listen to me. Not even Mrs. Sparrow's voice was enough to stop him. She joined him, by the way. But she told me to tell Panchito she would return to him some day..." ;D ((Inside joke for Panchito))
She noticed that the crew was still working slow, and decided to do something about it. She placed herself on the middle of the deck, and started singing. The pirates stared at the gypsy in disbelief when they noticed she knew their songs. Then they started singing with her while they got "The Misty Lady" ready to sail.
Hoist the Colours (POTC 3) Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die.
The king and his men stole the queen from her bed and bound her in her Bones. The seas be ours and by the powers where we will we'll roam.
Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die.
Some men have died and some are alive and others sail on the sea – with the keys to the cage... and the Devil to pay we lay to Fiddler's Green!
The bell has been raised from it's watery grave... Do you hear it's sepulchral tone? We are a call to all, pay head the squall and turn your sail toward home!
Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die.

Yo, ho, haul together Hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars Never shall we die...
High above the deck, Jim hung upside-down from the shrouds, plucking on a cherry acoustic. A familiar mist voice floated up to the ratlines, and Jim smiled. Esme.
Never shall we die... he sang in his own rough voice. Jim slung his guitar over his back and pulled himself right side up, watching Esme, Poca, and Eilsa below. Teague's departure had been hard on everyone. He could still feel the tears welling up inside of him, but they wouldn't come. He would be strong for Teague.
Jim swung down from the shrouds, walking over to Esme in the middle of the deck.
"Esme..." Jim began. "Just... thanks. You were like a daughter to Teague... and that makes you my sister. Even though he's gone, this family's still here."

Esmeralda smiled and embraced Jim, pulling him in to a hug and ruffling his hair gently, like a loving big sister would.
"Haven't you heard, Jimbo?" she asked cheerfully. "Teague isn't dead. There were some things he had to go to sort out. Last I spoke to him, he mentioned something about The Code and danger. I couldn't quite grasp what it was, but it seems he had to go on an official business as The Keeper of The Code. Our father is alive!"
She released him for as long as it took to find a strangely guitar-shaped box.
"But he wanted to give you this gift to remember him by. He didn't know how long he would be gone. And he hoped we could take a journey together on "The Misty Lady." I can sword-fight, but I have no idea how to control a ship. Maybe if we work together, we can both learn?"
She looked around, her eyes seeking the tuff of brown hair belonging to Captain Teague's "wee Princess", Pen-Pen.
"Now where is Pen-Pen? I have a present for her too, and besides, I promised to take care of you while he was gone. Since I am older than you two, I will be the big sister in the family. Pocahontas and Elisa here are considered as Teague's daughters too. So say hello to your new family."
She turned her attention to Pocahontas and Elisa.
"Poca, Elisa, this is Jim Hawkins. He is Captain Teague Sparrow's adopted son, and also his youngest crew member. Teague is very proud of him, and so am I. I am proud to have a brother so young and yet so brave."

"The family just keep's getting bigger and bigger..." Jim remarked, looking over at his new sisters, Elisa and Poca.
Then his attention snapped right back to the guitar case that Esme had handed him. It was from Teague? Jim undid the clasps with trmbling fingers, his imagination running wild with what kind of guitar there could possible be inside...
Jim threw back the lid and let loose a rather high-pitched squeal.
"OHMIGAWD!!!" He drew out from the case an ebony 1959 Les Paul, complete with a whammy bar. What was even more interesting was the detail on the guitar's body, which was a white replica of the design on Captain Flint's flag.
Jim stared at it for a few seconds, then made a mad dash to his bunk. His hammock was completely covered in tools and spare parts. Jim rummaged around for one item in particular: an amp. It had been a relatively simple matter to make it run on batteries, just adjust a few wires and shove a few D-batteries inside.
Jim flipped the amp on and plugged in a wireless adapter in his guitar, then plucked one string experimentally. The guitar sang out a single note, clear and strong.
Jim cranked up the volume and broke into a Van Halen riff, screaming over his instrument.
A few crew members up on deck turned and rolled their eyes... The cabin boy had a new toy.

Pocahontas released Djali as Esmerelda joined her. She hugged her best friend tightly, forcing back the tears that flooded her heart. When she saw Teague's gift and read his letter, the indian choked out a laugh. She remembered the crazy events of her wedding, from Kovu and Esme's last mintue doubts to the quarrel that almost insued from Kovu's family. She saw that the necklace was very precious and was honored to recieve it.
She slipped the necklace over her head as Elisa got her gift and she met the cabin boy, Jim Hawkins. Perhaps this trip would be an adventure after all. It had been so long since she had had one. As Esme roused the crew with a song, Pocahontas looked around for something to do.
"Well, Capitain," she said to Esmerelda. "What do you want me to do?"

Esmeralda hugged Pocahontas tightly. When Poca hung her gift around her neck, Esmeralda showed her that she too had got a similar neckless. Esmeralda's neckless was made of Emeralds. She too laughed heartily at the memories from the wedding.
She still remembered Kovu's touching words about his love for her, and she knew in her heart that she still loved him as much as she had done that day. Now that she knew they could never have each other, she maybe even loved him more than ever. She knew she could never love that way again. Her heart belonged to Kovu, even if she couldn't say it out loud.
Esmeralda laughed at Jim's reaction when he received his guitar, and when he stormed into his room and started playing, she knew they weren't going to see him for a while. After the song for the crew, when Poca asked her what to do, she went closer to her friends and whispered to them.
"Well, I didn't dare to admit it to these experienced sailors, but even if I am a trained swordfighter, I don't know how to steer a ship. Neither can I read or write, so I can't read a sea map. Could you two help me out?"

Pocahontas was worried when Esmerelda confessed that she was not knowledgeable of ship running. "I wish I could help," said Pocahontas saidly. "But I am as helpless as you. The largest vessal I've ever piloted was a canoe. Perhaps Jim could help us."

Esmeralda heard the sounds of the guitar blasting all over the ship, and chuckled with laughter. It reminded her of the eagerness with which Zephyr always explored a new toy.
"No, don't disturb him. Let him have fun with his new toy. I will get the hang of this, eventually. I think the elder crew members may be willing to help us out. They were all loyal to Teague. I don't know the younger crew members that well. But if you see an old chap in a striped jersey around here, called Red Billy, Captain Teague always spoke warmly of him. I think he will be the right person to ask - as he was always standing by the wheel while Captain Teague himself had a day off. He also warned us against a certain pirate disaster called Larry - it had something to do with cannons, and the Pride of the British Navy."
((Inside joke from the thread KABOOOOOOOOOOOM!, where the np player Larry was sinking the greatest pride of the Royal Navy, "The Victory", with one shot of his cannon. This is how our former Norrington met Captain Teague Sparrow for the first time on WoD. Both Larry and Red Billy are np characters, so please feel free to godmod them as you like.))

Elisa smiled at Jim as the young teenager readily accepted she and Pocahontas as members of his family. His excitement over the guitar Teague left him was contagious, and she smiled as he played a riff of a Van Halen song. The crew members seemed irritated, but Elisa didn't think he was bad at all.
She listened as Esmeralda and Pocahontas talked about how to go about sailing the ship. Elisa didn't have much experience herself, aside from her dad's electric boat when they rode it on the Hudson river every summer.
"Well, I guess we'll just have to wing it." Elisa said. "Besides, we've got an entire crew of able bodied seamen with us. We'll be fine."
