Jane continued to lie there, arms folded with a dissatisfied look on her face. Why did everything for her have to turn out in shreds? Her love life, and now THIS?! It was like somebody decided that everything should go wrong for Jane Porter. And why? Did she deserve it?
Jane huffed, and out of anger and spite, screamed. "Why does everything happen to ME?" She yelled.
Right now, she wanted to be anywhere but the jungle. She wanted to be in a mansion in England, with lots of servants and maids. Dream on, Jane, she thought to herself. There's a better chance of cows flying than that ever happening.
But she knew she'd have to do something if she wanted to survive out here. She was sure that Pocahontas and Esmeralda had probably given up looking for her. They probably believed that there was no way that Jane could have survived that river. But maybe Jane would surprise them - she didn't want to worry them.
She willed herself to get up, and set off barefoot through the jungle. If I could do it before, I can do it now! Jane thought.

Esmeralda had just waded onto land, given the fish to Pocahontas and wringed the water out of her hair and dress. She helped Poca searching the trail in front of them, her keen eyes noticing marks in the soil. Marks left by the same size of shoes Jane was wearing. Her emerald gaze darted over at Pocahontas.
"Poca! Footprints, and the same brand of shoes that Jane is using. Could it be....?"
She increased her pace, wanting to find her friend again before something happened to her. In the distance she could hear someone shouting.
"Why does everything happen to ME?"
Esmeralda turned to Poca again.
"It's Jane! The voice, the temper, it has to be her!!! JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!!!" She shouted from the top of her lungs, hoping that Jane would hear her.

Pocahontas took the fish from Esmerelda and found a stick to kill it with. Searching around, she found a vine from a nearby tree and tied it around the fish's tail to carry it.
"Try to find a stick, Esme," she advised. "We can use them for spears to protect ourselves and hunt."
Pocahontas brightened up whe she saw Jane's prints in the dirt. When Esmerelda announced that she had seen Jane, Pocahontas looked around. It didn't take long to see where Jane had gone.
"It looks like she's gone into the jungle," Pocahontas told the gypsy. "We shouldn't go in there alone. Wait for me here. I'll go down stream and see if I can't find the canoe and remaining supplies."
Making sure the gypsy understood, Pocahontas set out at a sprint, eyes moving continuiously from the trail to the river beside her. It wasn't long before she found broken wood floating in the water. It was the shattered remains of the canoe. There was a wall of rocks across the river, almost like a dam. Pocahontas dived into the water and began to search for any of their supplies. After a half hour in the fridged water, her search turned up empty.
Swimming back to the edge, Pocahontas wringed out her long hair and followed the trail back to Esmerelda.
[[Let me know when to bring Kovu in.]]

((A jungle is a very likely place to meet a lion. I think it would be okay to bring Kovu in now. But then again, when wouldn't I like to bring in my favorite kitty? ;D ))
Esmeralda watched interested at how Pocahontas used a stick to kill the fish before tying a vine to the fish's tail to carry it. She brightened up in an impressed smile.
"Great idea, Poca! Your people are wonderful. I really hope I can meet your tribe one day. Are they far away from here?"
Esmeralda looked around, and managed to find two bamboo sticks. She beamed with joy as she offered one of them to Poca.
"These are effective weapons. They look thin, but try to get whacked by one of those. I doubt anyone would dare attack us after a meeting with this one. Now if I only could find some rocks, I could make us some sharp edges for the spears. Or we could carve the edges from fishbones. We have not lost all our equipment. I have a dagger in my belt. Old habit. I'm a gypsy."
Esmeralda smiled and gave Poca a not when she was told to wait. Esmeralda's safari uniform clinged to her body because of the heat, and she was glad she had bought the hat to protect her head from the heat. She didn't want to get a sunstroke.
While she was waiting for Pocahontas, she started carving out some water cups with her sharp dagger, holing them out so they could hold water. She made three such water cups. One for Poca, one for Jane, and one for herself.

[[Would you rather have him show up after camp is made or before?]]
Pocahontas hurried along the path and spotted Esmerelda waiting for her. When she saw what the gypsy had made, she was surprised and proud.
"That is a brilliant idea Esme," she said examining on of the cups. "You have some great skill that will help us survive. My people would adore you, perhaps adopt you if you wish. They live far away though. Several days travel from here on the water, longer on foot. I'll have to find a new canoe before I return. I hope to take you back with me."
"Well, none of the supplies survived. We will have to trust in our own skills to make it through the night. Have you heard anything of Jane yet?"

((If he shows up before, he can laugh at the girls for thinking that they can set up a camp without any men to help them.... ;D Btw: Wouldn't it be fun to have Quasi there with him, for some "male bonding time? I have an idea that Jim Hawkins and Warren also would enjoy a camp like this: Boys versus the Girls. What do you say? ))
Esmeralda laughed and looked down at the wooden cups she had made. Compared to the things Quasimodo could carve with a knife, these cups were rather poorly made. But they were still useful.
"Why, thank you Poca," she laughed. "A little bellringer taught me. You wouldn't believe all the amazing things Quasi can make with a knife and a piece of wood."
She smiled when Pocahontas mentioned that she would be adored and even adopted by her people.
"I would love to meet your people. If they are just as wonderful as you, I will love them like family. Sorry you lost your canoe. I can help you make a new one if you like. It shouldn't be so hard, with the right tools and materials. I would love to come with you to meet your people."
She listened to Poca's account and nodded calmly. She had expected as much, and was prepared to make it through the night with what they had.
"I have only heard Jane scream from a distance. Not in fear, but in fury. If anyone dares to provoke her now, they will have to run away from her, and not the other way around."
Esmeralda laughed teasingly, trying to hide her concern for their friend.

**** Pocahontas ****
Pocahontas smiled when Esmerelda talked about Quasi's work with wood. It was clear that the two really loved eachother. When Esmerelda agreed to come back the the Powhatan villiage with her, even helping her build a new canoe, Pocahontas hugged her friend tightly. She quickly moved away, realizing that she was still wet from her scouting mission for the supplies.
"If you will help me make my canoe, I will gladly take you back with me to my villiage. Perhaps we can discuss the journey in camp tonight. But first we must find Jane."
Pocahontas laughted as well when Esmerelda joked about Jane's fury. But she was also worried, know what kind of wild creatures live in the woods around her home. The jungle shouldn't be that different.
Finding a pair of small rocks from the river, she sharpened some spear heads for the sticks. She was now greatful for Kocoum, whom she had seen making spears and secretly learned it from him. Remembering what had happened to the man, Pocahontas quickly wiped away the tears from her face and tucked her long hair behind her ears.
**** Kovu ****
Kovu rested on the cold ground, his long tail wrapped around his back paws. There was a warm fire nearby, offering warmth and light to the camp. The lion opened his eyes, his keen ears catching a strange sound. But it was gone before he could determine the source.
"Did you hear that?" he asked the other boys. "Maybe we aren't out here alone?"

((*cracks knuckles* It's on, girlies!))
Warren
The teenage pyro sat right next to the fire, twirling one of his fingers in the orange flames. Warren rolled his eyes to himself. This was the LAST TIME Jim talked him into a camping trip. So much for roughing it... Hey Warren, can you start the fire? Hey Warren, can you heat up my drink? Hey Warren... Every single time someone needed a stupid flame, they came to him. They had brought matches, hadn't they? Go use them!
"I didn't hear anything..." Warren mumbled to the talking lion.
Jim
"Nah, I think I did..." Jim said, lying on his sleeping bag as he roasted a hot dog.
"It sounded like yelling..." Jim said through a full mouth.
"It sounded like... a girl."

Kovu glanced over at the moody teen that Jim had invited. He really didn't know much about either of them, but would like to learn more. He turned his attention to Jim as the boy enjoyed a strange piece of meat.
"So what do you have there?" he asked the boy. "Is that meat?"
When Jim pointed out the sound could have been from a girl, Kovu smiled to himself. He missed Esmerelda, thought he tried his best to hide it. "So are you interested in girl's yet Jim?" he asked, hoping it was a too personal question.

Jane's ears perked up at the sound of her friend's voice. Were they really looking for her? All of a sudden, Jane felt rather special! They did care! Jane smiled to herself - she should try and find them, so that they wouldn't get too worried.
She tore off - still barefoot - through the jungle, in search of them. They couldn't be far, if Esmeralda's voice had carried towards Jane. Frantically, causing her dress to suffer even more damage, she followed the sound of their voices.
It doesn't sound like they're alone, Jane thought to herself in confusion. But who else could be there?
Jane was completely lost in her thoughts, as per usual, and before she knew it - THWACK! She stumbled over a tree branch and into the clearing, face first. How embarassing, how perfect, how -
Looking up, she found herself looking at a teenaged boy. Who looked awfully familiar ... oh, right. He's the one Jane crashed into on Christmas Eve - the one who's space flyer-thing she had ruined.
Nervously, she gave a smile and a sheepish wave to the boy.

Esmeralda looked around and smiled.
"You know, Poca, the cry I heard wasn't too far away from here. Sooner or later Jane will be hungry. Why don't you and I set up camp first, and start making a fireplace and some hot dinner. If we put herbs in our dinner, the smell just might be what we need to attract Jane."
She looked around in the forests.
"To make a canoe, we need some good bendable branches, Birch for instance. We also need something to make the canoe water restistant. I could probably make up something if I just find the right herbs...."
She sighed.
"I hope Jane is alright. I can't stop worrying about her."

Jim raised an eyebrow at the lion.
"Yeah... I think it's meat." Jim shrugged. "Earth food is weird. It sort of tastes like Bonza beast, though."
Jim rolled his eyes at Kovu's next question. A little prying today, aren't we? Jim thought.
"Yeah, I guess I'm interested..." Jim mumbled. "But I don't think it's the same for them. Girls don't exactly throw themselves at me, if you catch my drift."
At that moment, a girl burst into the clearing and practically threw herself at Jim. The Montressor native shut his now wide-open jaw as he recognized her... it was the lady that he had walked right into on Christmas Eve. That solar surfer had taken weeks to fix... aparently solar power converter cells did not exist on earth.
"What the..." was all Jim could say.
