Kovu immediately realized that he had been a little forward with Jim and opened his mouth to appologize. Suddenly he heard something moving in the jungle around them. He jumped to his feet and got ready to confront the attacker. He could see a streak of bright yellow before a girl fell into their camping area.
"Jane!" he cried in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
He move over to the woman and helped her to her feet.

Pocahontas listened to Esmerelda's plans for the camp and nodded in agreement. As she went around collecting the supplies, she spotted a trail in the jungle that appeared to be recently used.
"Esme, come look at this!" she called. "It looks to be recently used. Do you think that Jane may have went this way?"

What was she doing here? What were they doing here was more like it! Jane looked in bewilderment as she saw Kovu. This was just unbelievable! She stumbled to her feet with Kovu's help, and opened her mouth to speak.
"Wha - you? Umm, er, Pocahontas! Esmeralda! Canoe ... water! Lost, err, here! Somewhere, and - "
Jane facepalmed. Words never came out right when you were directly out of peril. Of course, Jane could always make a total idiot out of herself in the jungle. She took a deep breath and composed herself.
"Um," she began. "Well, I - I was supposed to be camping with Pocahontas and Esmeralda ... but we - I - got a little off-track."
She turned her attention to the teenager. Jane wasn't sure if he was angry, or not. Better make an apology fast, she thought, and made her way up to him.
"Uh, sorry about ... well, you know. Christmas Eve and that flying-thing and all of that."
Clearly her apologies were not much better than her rants.

Esmeralda went over to Poca to study the trail. Her keen eyes soon found traces after Jane's shoes again.
"I have been so long with Djali, that I am used to track things," she joked laughingly. "But yes, this trail has recently been used, and by Jane. These marks belong to a female shoe."
She started following the trail and stopped with a puzzled look on her face when she heard voices.
"Poca. I thought we were alone here. But that was Jane... and some other voices... belonging to boys!"

Quasi sat on near the campfire, on the upside of Warren. To the amusement of the two young boys he`d been rather wide eyed, as the fire boy, as he called him in his head, had lit the campfire with his bare hands. That were to put it mildly.. he threw another quick glance at him, still not sure what to make out of him, something about him reminded him of Hades. He shrugged it off, surely it must be just the fire, he assured himself.
He turned his head, as he too heard the nearby screaming.
Following the conversation between Jim and Kovu, he grinned slightly. He agreed pretty much with the boy`s saying that earth food was weird, only in Quasi`s case it were more like 20th century food is weird.. Skip a few centuries and suddenly the food suddenly looks like it`s from another planet..
Suddenly a very.. yellow woman came bursting out of the bushes, apparently a friend of Esmeralda, he realizes as he heard her telling about their camping. What a conciusness... or was this the official camping day..? If so, they had forgot to tell him. ( >.< )

**** Kovu ****
Kovu was worried when he say how flustered Jane was, but he smiled when he heard that the girls were camping nearby.
"Oh, they are, are they?" he said slyly. "Perhaps we could pay them a visit later on tonight. Would you like an escort back to your camp, Miss Jane?"
**** Pocahontas ****
Pocahontas studied the track that she had found. Esmerelda mentioned that she had heard voices. "The boys?" she repeated, looking up at the gypsy. "What could they be doing here? I certainly hope that Jane would run into them rather than some vicious animals."
She began making the shelters for the night, using any straight sticks and trees to make the walls of the "house." Bushes and wide leaves became the roof and bedding inside. Apart from the canoe mishap of earlier, the camping experiance was working out perfectly.

Esmeralda went over to Pocahontas, smiling gently.
"Here, let me help you with that...."
She used her knife to cut down some vines, then she started tying the sticks and trees together, making them stronger if there should be wind or rain. she was glad that Poca had done this before. She too started gathering bushes for the bedding. When she was done, she started gathering dry twigs and wood for the campfire.
She turned to Poca again.
"It is a pity we don't have a pot to boil our food in. What I brought with me of equipment was taken by the river. But if you like, we could drive a spear through the fish and grill it on the fire. Or prepare it on a flat rock, though it takes a little while to heat up a rock enough for cooking something on it."
Her sharp ears heard the voices again.
"They are mentioning Jane. So Jane is alive, but worried about us. I heard one voice that I am certain belongs to Kovu. Who the others are, I don't know yet."

Pocahontas agreed to roasting the fish on the spears and set about clearing an area for the fire. She dug a pit with a sharp rock and used sticks to make a platform to roast their dinner.
Pocahontas could make out the voices as well. "They sound close if we can hear them from here," she pointed out. "Perhaps we can visit with them later tonight? Pull some pranks maybe? What do you think, Esme? We could use a laugh after earlier."

Esmeralda knew they would need some more equipment, and while Pocahontas made the platform to roast their dinner, she found three pieces of wood, and started carving in them. When she was done, she had made three dinner plates. She came over to Poca, offering her one of the plates with a smile.
"Now we don't have to place warm food in our laps."
Hearing Pocahonta's suggestion a mischievous grin appeared on her face.
"Hey, you know me, Poca. I can never resist the temptation to prank someone. Should we plan something now, or take it as it comes?"

Pocahontas took the plate from her friend and smiled. "You are very resourceful, Esme," she praised. "My father would love to meet you."
As the fish cooked, Pocahontas sat cross legged by the pit and watching the night sky. When Esmerelda asked if they wanted to plan the pranks, the indian grinned mischeiviously. They didn't call her "Little Wanton" for nothing!
"Well, I think we should wait until Jane comes back. That way we know what we are getting ourselves into. Also, I would hate to pull Jane into our practical jokes. She doesn't deserve to get hurt. But what kind of plans do you have in mind?"

((Since I love your fanfic ideas, I can live with that, as long as you promise to return to us later ;D ))
"Thank you, Poca. You are very resourceful yourself. I would love to meet your father as well. If he is like you, I know I will love him. And so will Djali."
Esmeralda chuckled with laughter and sat down next to her, sniffing the lovely scent of the fish. Her emerald eyes scanned the area, and she noticed some herbs she had used for spice to the food at home in France. She darted over to the herbs, and picked some of them carefully.
"Poca, we are in luck! Do you need spice on your fish?"
She held her palm against Poca, showing her the herbs she had found. She grinned broadly when she noticed the mischievous smile in Poca's face. This was one of the reasons she loved Poca as a sister. They had the exact same sense of humor. Poca was also a great friend, and sweet and reliable. The best friend Esmeralda could have.
"I agree we wait for Jane. I don't want her to get hurt either. Besides... she should have the opportunity to choose if she wants to join us in our pranking. I haven't any plans yet. I want to find out who we are going to prank first, so we can choose a prank that goes with their personalities. What do you think of that idea?"

Warren just stared open-mouthed as a lady in a tattered yellow dress came flying into the clearing.
"I dunno, Jim, it seems the ladies do seem to throw themselves at you." Warren said, a bit sarcastically.
Warren raised an eyebrow as the lady spouted out random sequences of words, obviously a bit flustered. And she seemed to know Jim... a past girlfriend maybe? Jim didn't seem like an 'older women' kind of guy... Warren chuckled to himself.
"Heh, the girls are out camping?" Warren laughed. "Maybe we should help 'em out. It's not like girls can rough it out here."
Warren ignited a fist and relit the fire.

Kovu glanced over at Warren and chuckled. "That may be true, Warren, but not with these girls. Pocahontas is an indian princess. She practically grew up in this kind of enviorment. As for Esme, well, let's just say that she can survive anything."
He gave Quasi a knowing glance. "But perhaps we should check on them just to be sure. Where are they camped, Jane?"

Jane was still a little bewildered that the teenager still hadn't replied to her apology. At least she was being sincere! Hopefully he wasn't one to hold grudges, but honestly, it was Christmas Eve!
Jane was just about ready to say something else - possibly to tell him off a little - when she noticed something a little odd. One of the boys had just lit a fire! Of course, that wasn't what was so odd about it - it was that he had done it with his hand!
Jane's mouth dropped in surprise. "How - how did you ... ?" She began, until Kovu jumped in with a question, and Jane temporarily regained her sanity.
"Well, to be honest, I don't know," Jane said in reply to Kovu. "I kind of got carried downstream after the canoe tipped. I don't know where the other two are."
Hopefully they weren't planning anything mean either. Jane hated to think that she could be involved in something against her friends.
